Husker Ben Scott named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

Ben Scott is one of 40 centers named on the list.

Nebraska center Ben Scott was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List on Friday. The Rimington Trophy is given to college football’s ‘most outstanding center.’

Scott officially came to Lincoln in January 2023 and was an integral part of the Nebraska football offensive line. He started in 12 games, 11 of them at the center position. He had a solid year settling into his new surroundings and was named an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection by coaches and media.

Scott should be an integral part of a Nebraska football offensive line that looks to return several key veterans and starters. His return to the program for the 2024 season will be important, with a youth movement in the quarterback room underway.

The Rimington Trophy is named for former Nebraska center Dave Rimington. He played at Nebraska from 1979 to 1982.

Rimington is one of the most decorated offensive linemen in college football history. He is the only two-time winner of the Outland Trophy and finished fifth for the Heisman Trophy in 1982.

Nebraska has one winner in the history of the Rimington Trophy. Dominic Raiola won the first-ever award in 2000.

Only 66 days remain until Nebraska’s 2024 season begins.

The countdown rolls on and only 66 days remain until the beginning until the start of the Nebraska Cornhuskers 2024 season on August 31 against the UTEP Miners.

The player spotlight is now shifted to Huskers offensive lineman Ben Scott.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound center out of Honolulu, Hawaii was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection last year after starting in 11 of 12 games for the Huskers at center. A preseason watch list member for the Rimington Trophy in 2023, he’ll once again be on the list this preseason.

Prior to his time with the Huskers, Scott spent three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils appearing in 28 games over three seasons.

In 2024, Scott will be looked upon once again to be one of the leaders of the Huskers’ offensive line and will be expected to be one of the top center’s not just in the Big Ten but in the country.
