Bears WR Javon Wims suspended two games for punching Saints DB

Punishment has been handed down to Bears receiver Javon Wims following his ejection from Sunday’s game against the Saints.
Wims punched Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson twice — in the helmet — which instigated a melee on the field early in the third quarter.
Wims has been suspended for two games, the NFL announced on Monday. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Wims will appeal his suspension.
Bears head coach Matt Nagy called Wims’ actions “completely unacceptable,” and it something that ended up costing his team early in the third quarter in Chicago’s 26-23 overtime loss to the Saints.
Wims is eligible to return to the Bears’ active roster on Nov. 17 following Chicago’s Week 10 match-up against the Vikings on Monday Night Football

REPORT: Bears WR Allen Robinson inquires about trade

The Allen Robinson contract situation has taken a turn for the worse, it appears.
According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Robinson asked the Bears about the possibility of a trade after the two sides continue to be far apart in contract extension talks.
Semantics matter here. Biggs isn’t reporting that Robinson requested a trade. But the fact it’s even coming up is an ominous sign.
It seems highly unlikely that the Bears would actually consider trading Robinson. He’s the team’s most important offensive weapon.
Bears players took to Twitter with an #ExtendAR campaign, proof of just how valued he is around Halas Hall.
The fastest way for GM Ryan Pace to lose this team is by allowing one of its leaders to be disrespected and discarded. Robinson deserves better, and he deserves a new contract

RB David Montgomery being smart as he recovers from groin injury

There was a time not too long ago when many were wondering what the Bears would do at running back without David Montgomery to start the season.
Montgomery, who suffered a groin injury during training camp practice on Aug. 26, was believed to be out anywhere from two to four weeks.
But Montgomery appears to have recovered quickly from his groin injury and his availability for Sunday’s Week 1 opener against the Detroit Lions is more than favorable.
After practicing in full both Thursday and Friday, there’s a good chance that Montgomery will be ready to go Sunday against the Lions

Bears expected to name Mitchell Trubisky starting quarterback

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears are expected to name Mitchell Trubisky the starting quarterback.
Trubisky enters his fourth season with the Bears after being a No. 2 overall pick back in 2017.
Trubisky has often been the subject of ire from Bears fans who believe the QB has held the team back with poor play and decision-making
