Bears announce undrafted free agent class of 11 players

The Bears announced the additions of 11 undrafted free agents to their roster, including Khalil Mack’s brother Ledarius Mack.

The Chicago Bears welcomed seven new members to their roster with their 2020 draft class. But they weren’t done bringing in some young talent that will be looking to earn a roster spot.

On Tuesday, the Bears announced the signings of 11 undrafted free agents, including Khalil Mack’s younger brother Ladarius Mack,

What was surprising is that Chicago didn’t sign an undrafted free agent quarterback, which indicates they’re sticking with Tyler Bray as the third-string QB behind Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles.

Chicago also added two running backs, which will get a crack at highlighting the Bears’ running back room.

Take a look at the undrafted free agents below:

  • Mississippi St DT Lee Autry
  • Yale OG Dieter Eiselen
  • Maryland LB Keandre Jones
  • WIU LB LaCale London
  • Buffalo LB LeDarius Mack
  • FIU RB Napoleon Maxwell
  • Duke DT Trevor McSwain
  • Oregon St RB Artavis Pierce
  • FAU LB Rashad Smith
  • LSU OT Badara Traore
  • Kentucky WR Ahmad Wagner

WATCH: Highlights of Bears UDFA pass rusher Ledarius Mack

Preseason just got a whole lot more interesting. Who could pass up the chance to get both Mack brothers on the field at the same time?

With the 2020 NFL Draft in the books, the Chicago Bears turned their attention to undrafted free agency, where they welcomed several rookies to their 90-man roster.

One of those undrafted rookies was Buffalo edge rusher Ladarius Mack. That’s right, the Bears got Khalil Mack’s younger brother.

While Ledarius isn’t at the level that his big bro is, he did have a knack for getting after the quarterback during his time at the University of Buffalo. In 2019, Mack had 24 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

“Khalil’s brother, that’s definitely something we’re looking forward to,” coach Matt Nagy told reporters. “It worked out for us.”

The Bears are currently set at pass rusher with Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn leading the charge, along with depth from newly-minted fifth-round draft pick Trevis Gipson and free-agent acquisition Barkevious Mingo.

Little Mack certainly faces an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, but if he impresses during camp, he could certainly earn a place on the practice squad.

Suddenly, preseason just got a whole lot more interesting. Who could pass up the chance to get both Mack brothers on the field at the same time?

Take a look at what the Bears can expect from Ledarius Mack:

It’s no secret that Khalil Mack requires a special gameplan for teams that have to face the formidable pass rusher. Mack is relentless when it comes to getting after the quarterback, and sometimes, it can feel like there are two of him on the field.

Now, there actually could be two Macks on the field for the Bears at the same time.

Mack’s brother Ledarius Mack has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Bears.

Like his big brother, Ledarius Mack was an edge rusher at the University of Buffalo. But unlike Khalil, the Bears didn’t have to give up two first-round picks. Granted, they’re much different talents at this point.

In 2019, Mack had 24 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries at Buffalo.

Currently, Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn headline the Bears’ pass rush, with free-agent acquisition Barkevious Mingo and fifth-round draft selection Trevis Gipson serving as depth.

We’ll see if Ledarius can follow in his big brothers steps with the Bears. Well, let’s just start with earning a roster spot.
