Bears place DE Roy Robertson-Harris on injured reserve

The Bears lost a valuable member of their defensive line as DE Roy Robertson-Harris was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

The Chicago Bears lost a valuable member of their defensive line when it was reported that defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris was having season-ending shoulder surgery.

The Bears made it official by placing Robertson-Harris on injured reserve on Thursday with the shoulder injury he suffered against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8.

In eight games this season, Robertson-Harris recorded 10 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and five quarterback hits with six starts. Robertson-Harris is slated to be an unrestricted free agent after this season. Earlier this offseason, Robertson-Harris signed a second-round tender and signed a one-year contract worth $3.259 million.

With Robertson-Harris landing on injured reserve, the Bears will be leaning on defensive end Brent Urban and defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr., who have both proven to be valuable members of this Chicago defense.

Bears NT John Jenkins is eligible to begin practicing this week

The Bears have designated nose tackle John Jenkins to return from injured reserve after missing three games with a thumb injury.

The Chicago Bears are going to get back a valuable member of their defensive line as they prepare for their Week 6 contest against the Carolina Panthers.

The Bears have designated nose tackle John Jenkins to return from injured reserve. He was placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb against the New York Giants in Week 2.

With the new injured reserve rules in 2020, players are eligible to return from IR after three games. Now as the Bears start prep for the Panthers, Jenkins is eligible to begin practicing.

In two games with the Bears this season, Jenkins recorded two tackles against the Detroit Lions. This was Jenkins’ second stint with the Bears, after he played in eight games with one start for the Bears in 2017, where he recorded eight tackles.

The Bears run defense has struggled this season and getting Jenkins back will certainly help.
