2020 Bears Schedule Breakdown: New York Giants

The Bears will play host to the Giants in Week 2 of the season. How might they stack up?

In Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season, the Chicago Bears will welcome in the New York Giants in what will officially be their home opener. The two teams met twice last year – once in the preseason and again in Week 12 – with the Bears leaving Soldier Field with a 19-14 victory.

It marked Giants quarterback Daniel Jones’ second career start, and he is now in the driver’s seat for QB1 duties after Eli Manning’s retirement. In the contest last year, Mitchell Trubisky passed for 278 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Khalil Mack played a vital role with a strip-sack late in the third quarter that set up a two-yard Trubisky keeper for the score. The Giants don’t figure to be much better than last year, so the Bears have a prime opportunity to start the home schedule off on the right foot.

What have you done for me lately?

The Giants have taken the last four-of-six in this series, but they haven’t won at Soldier Field since their Super Bowl season in 2007.

Key Stats:

Allen Robinson has averaged 105.0 yards-per-game against the Giants, the second-most in his career with at least a two-game sample size. The Bears also held Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley in check last year with just 59 rushing yards, of which 22 came on one play. They will need to do the same again in 2020.
