It seems Bayonetta 4 might already be in the works at PlatinumGames.

On Friday, franchise creator Hideki Kamiya teased the fourth installment while responding to fans that weren’t happy about Bayonetta 3‘s ending.

“I didn’t think it was unexpected at all, but it seems that the ending of [Bayonetta 3] wasn’t conveyed correctly to everyone,” Kamiya said on Twitter. “So I think [Bayonetta 4] will be an unexpected development for everyone. After all, when [Bayonetta 4] comes out, I’m sure there will be people who say, ‘You added that as an afterthought,’ so I’ll say it now.”

Kamiya is alluding to an enormous plot spoiler here, so we’ll refrain from the details. It’s undoubtedly an off-the-cuff way to announce a video game, that’s for sure.

There’s been no mention of Bayonetta 4 before these tweets, so it’s more or less a confirmation that PlatinumGames is working on another. However, given that Bayonetta 3 came out last month, the fourth entry is probably many years away.

Bayonetta 3 did see some controversy at launch. Voice actor Helena Taylor claimed she was only offered $4000 to reprise her role as the title character. Shortly after, a report by Bloomberg stated Taylor was offered significantly more — which she later confirmed.

Bayonetta 3’s levels may be linear, but they still provide plenty of hiding spots for secrets, especially when it comes to the game’s collectibles. We’ve already got a guide on where to find all Umbral Tears in the game, but now we’re covering the verses. Many of these verses are unmissable and will be presented to you as you progress through each level, but a select few are hidden away.

You’ll need to get these verses to get the best rank for each chapter, so we’ll tell you where you can find all of them, and make sure you’re looking out for their distinctive gold, red, or purple glow.

While Bayonetta 3 may not be some sprawling open-world game, it still has plenty of secrets hidden in the nooks and crannies. Umbral Tears are a collectible that you definitely want to get your hands on as fast as possible as they unlock new challenge levels to keep the game going and put your skills to the test.

Each of the game’s 13 main chapters has three to collect, taking the form of a crow, cat, and frog. They glow red and aren’t too hard to spot once you know what you’re looking for, but there’s always bound to be one or two that you just can’t get your hands on. Bayonetta 3 has finally been unleashed upon the world, and the team at Platinum Games is already working on upkeep. This day-one patch is relatively small, so it won’t stop you from playing the game for too long. It makes a few necessary adjustments and makes some last-minute additions for features that were only just ready in time for launch.

The Bayonetta games split themselves up quite neatly into chapters, letting you progress through the story in manageable chunks if you’re not the binging type. With this highly anticipated sequel releasing today, you may want to know how long it might take you to see everything there is to see, although, you can replay a chapter at any time once you’ve completed it, so the fun theoretically never has to stop.

It’s less than 24 hours until Bayonetta’s third adventure finally graces us. It’s been eight years since the last game in the series and it’s fair to say that fans are pretty excited about what Bayonetta 3 has to offer. Some people are so excited that they’re going to want to start playing the second the game becomes available, it’s just a matter of knowing when.

Voice actor Hellena Taylor has released a new statement regarding her initial Bayonetta 3 pay offer from developer PlatinumGames, now saying it was $10,000 — significantly more than her initial claim.

Earlier this month, Taylor released a series of videos on Twitter urging fans to boycott Bayonetta 3 due to PlatinumGames allegedly only offering her $4000 for the lead role. Later, reports from Bloomberg and VGC disputed Taylor’s comments, claiming the studio was willing to pay her $15,000 at minimum.

On Monday, Taylor attempted to clarify where the $15,000 pay figure came from, specifically citing a dialogue with Bayonetta franchise creator Hideki Kamiya.

“I feel the need to defend myself and my reputation in the industry,” Taylor said on Twitter. “I explained that their first offer was too low. That offer was 10,000 dollars total.”

“I then wrote in Japanese to Hideki Kamiya, asking for what I was worth,” Taylor continues. “He replied saying how much he valued my contribution to the game and how much the fans wanted me to voice the game. I was then offered an extra [$5000].”

Thus far, neither PlatinumGames nor publisher Nintendo has publically commented on Taylor’s allegations. 

Bayonetta 3 is coming out on Oct. 28, 2022, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

Over the weekend, voice actor Hellena Taylor called for a boycott of Bayonetta 3 — claiming she was only offered $4000 for the starring role by developer PlatinumGames. However, it seems the proposed rate was allegedly much higher than that.

A report by Bloomberg claims that PlatinumGames was going to hire Taylor for at least five voiceover recording sessions – paying between $3000 to $4000 each time. Meaning the total payout would be around $15,000 at minimum. According to the story’s two sources, Taylor didn’t take that offer, and wanted a six-figure contract in addition to residuals for every copy sold.

In the same report, Taylor denied these assertions as “an absolute lie” and that PlatinumGames was “trying to save their [expletive] and the game,” she said in an email to Bloomberg.

“I would like to put this whole bloody franchise behind me quite frankly get on with my life in the theatre,” Taylor continues.

Other reports also corroborate the higher rate for Bayonetta 3, most notably VGC — which ran an independent investigation after Taylor’s initial call for a boycott. As of right now, PlatinumGames and Nintendo have yet to issue any formal statement.

Bayonetta 3 will release for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 28, 2022.

Voice actress Hellena Taylor is calling on fans to boycott Bayonetta 3, claiming that developer PlatinumGames allegedly offered her only $4000 for the lead role.

Since the first Bayonetta 3 gameplay trailers, many have been curious why Taylor did not reprise her role as the title character. Over the weekend, Taylor explained why in a series of videos shared on Twitter.

“As an actor, I trained for a total of seven and a half years. Three years at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art Lamda with voice coach Barbara Berkery, and four and a half years with the legendary Larry Moss in Los Angeles,” Taylor said. “What did they offer to pay me? The final offer to do the whole game as a buyout, flat rate, was $4,000 [USD].”

“This is an insult to me. The amount of time I took to work on my talent and everything that I have given to this game and to the fans,” Taylor continues. “I am asking the fans to boycott this game and instead spend the money that you would have spent on this game donating to charity.”

As of this posting, neither PlatinumGames nor publisher Nintendo has responded to Taylor’s claims. However, that will likely change in the coming days.

Bayonetta 3 is coming out for the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 28, 2022.
