The COVID-19 barber situation is officially in the past as Daniel Kilgore has been cleared to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to get good news as it relates to a COVID-19 scare sparked by multiple close contacts with a barber who tested positive.
Yesterday, the team officially activated WR Demarcus Robinson from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Today they’ll do the same with backup C Daniel Kilgore. According to a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kilgore has been cleared of the virus ahead of Super Bowl LV, testing negative all week long.
Kilgore was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week after having been exposed to a barber who tested positive for the virus. Kilgore was reportedly mid-haircut when the barber was informed of his positive test. He apparently told the barber to finish his haircut but had a laugh about the situation on Twitter by updating his profile picture.
Kilgore started four games for the Chiefs this season, three early on in the year when starter Austin Reiter dealt with a knee injury. He also started in Week 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With an ailing offensive line, Kilgore is an important depth piece for the team, so having him back today for their final walk-through ahead of Super Bowl LV is important, especially if the team were to suffer an injury during the course of the Super Bowl against the Buccaneers.
