Auburn at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 74, Ole Miss 71

Moneyline

PASS.

The Tigers are rolling and are the better team. They should come out on top despite being on the road, but they aren’t worth playing as -275 favorites.

Against the spread

BET OLE MISS +6.5 (-115).

The Tigers have won often on the road but haven’t covered with any consistency. They are just 1-4 ATS in away games and 2-3 ATS as single-digit favorites this season. The Tigers are 2-5 ATS in conference play as well.

The Rebels are 5-3 ATS in conference play and 2-2 ATS in their last 4 at home. They have scored at least 72 points in 6 of their last 7, so they should be able to keep pace with Auburn’s efficient offense.

Considering those trends, back OLE MISS +6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 148.5 (-105).

The Rebels have a capable defense, allowing 69 or fewer in every home game this season. In SEC play, they have allowed 51 to Georgia, 65 to LSU, 63 to Texas A&M and 69 to Texas at home, going Under in all 4 games.

The Tigers have scored 70 or fewer points in 2 of their last 3 games, going 1-2 O/U. They have allowed 68 or fewer in 4 of their last 5. With that in mind, back UNDER 148.5 (-105).

Auburn at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Auburn at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Auburn Tigers (3-3, 1-2 SEC) visit the 9th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (6-0, 2-0) Saturday in a conference clash. Kickoff from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is slated for noon ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Auburn vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Auburn comes into this game looking for a big win to turn around a so-far disappointing season. The Tigers are on a 2-game skid, with both losses coming against SEC opponents – first at home to LSU 21-17 Oct. 1, then at No. 2 Georgia 42-10 last week. This will be the Tigers’ 4th straight game vs. an SEC foe, with their lone conference win coming at home vs. Missouri in a 17-14 OT victory Sept. 24. They are led by QB Robby Ashford, who has completed only 48.0% of his passes (59 of 123 attempts) for 874 yards with only 4 TDs vs. 3 interceptions.

Ole Miss is looking another big win vs. an SEC opponent. This will be the Rebels’ 3rd straight game vs. a conference opponent, winning the previous two – first vs. then No. 8 Kentucky 22-19, then at Vanderbilt 52-28 last Saturday. They are led by QB Jaxson Dart, who has completed 63.6% of his passes (91 of 143) for 1,358 yards with 8 TDs compared to 5 interceptions.

Auburn at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 48, Auburn 10

Moneyline

AVOID.

While this should be an easy win for Ole Miss, I would never recommend betting on a game where a team is this heavily favored. Upsets in college football do happen, and in a midseason conference game like this one, anything is possible. The risk is not worth the reward.

Against the spread

OLE MISS -14.5 (-108) is the way to go.

As mentioned above, Ole Miss should win easily and I see the spread being your best bet here. Auburn’s offense has looked terrible, failing to score 13 points or more in its 2 games vs. a ranked opponent. Counting the entire season, the Tigers have only scored 20 or more points twice, and both those outings came in the first 2 weeks of the season vs. unranked opponents (Mercer and San Jose State).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 55.5 (-107).

Ole Miss should be able to run up the score. The offense should be able to put up at least 40 points to help the Over. However, the Over is not nearly as safe as the ATS bet. Because of Auburn’s lack of an offense, I could very well see this Ole Miss defense allowing less than 10 points, in which case the Under will win.

My prediction is that the Over will win, but if you’re not confident, just stick to betting the spread.
