College Football News predicts close battle between Auburn, Mississippi State

Auburn and Mississippi State are both looking for a much-needed win when they take the field on Saturday in Starkville.

It is no secret that Auburn is struggling as the Tigers go into their regular season finale against Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday night. While Gus Malzahn’s team is currently favored by 7.5 points over the Bulldogs, some are picking Mike Leach’s squad to pull the upset.

That includes Pete Fiutak of College Football News. Per his preview:

“What’s Going To Happen

Mississippi State will rise up in the regular season finale – it still might get a bowl game out of all of this.

Continually lost throughout this season has been a defense that’s been good enough to get by. There were the expected problems against the top teams, and getting ripped up by Vanderbilt wasn’t fun, but for the most part, it’s been okay.

After getting pounded on last week by the A&M running game, the Tiger D will get picked on by the Mississippi State passing attack.

Auburn vs Mississippi State Prediction

Mississippi State 27, Auburn 24″

It will be an interesting game as Kevin Steele’s defense tries to contain the Air Raid attack led by State quarterback Will Rogers. It will also be a chilly night in Starkville as the temperature at kickoff is expected to be 55 degrees.

Who do you think pulls out the victory?
