Auburn opens as favorites over Mississippi State at BetMGM

Auburn will look to break a two-game losing streak as the Tigers travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Saturday.

Auburn is stumbling into its last regular season game of 2020 after losing back-to-back games for the first time since 2018.

Luckily for the Tigers, they get to play against a team that is even more on the struggle bus in Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are 2-6 in Mike Leach’s first season in Starkville and have seen a slew of players either opt out or transfer.

At BetMGM, Auburn has opened as a 7.5-point favorite over State for the 7:30 p.m. ET matchup on Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.

The Tigers held a 20-14 lead against No. 5 Texas A&M this past Saturday but were outscored 17-0 in the fourth quarter and held to just 21 total yards in the last 15 minutes in a 31-20 loss.

Early Vegas line has Auburn a touchdown-plus favorite over Mississippi State

Auburn will enter its regular season finale as favorites against 2-6 Mississippi State as the Tigers and Bulldogs battle in Starkville.

Auburn will have to deal with the sound of cowbells rings on Saturday night in Starkville as the Tigers take on Mississippi State in their regular season finale.

Per an early line from Vegas, Gus Malzahn’s team are favored by eight points over the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State has struggled in its first season under Mike Leach, currently standing 2-6 with its only wins coming against LSU and winless Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs have seen quite a few players opt out or transfer including preseason All-SEC running back Kylin Hill.

The Tigers are coming off their second straight defeat in a 31-20 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. Kevin Steele’s defense was gashed on the ground for 313 rushing yards by the Aggies in the loss.

Auburn is coming off its best performance of the season in a 48-11 victory over LSU last Saturday and will take some momentum into the matchup against Mississippi State in Starkville this coming Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs pulled out a close 24-17 victory over Vanderbilt this past Saturday to win its second game of the year, it’s first victory since the season-opening win over LSU.

The experts at BetMGM don’t think highly of the Bulldogs’ chances against Gus Malzahn and the Tigers as Auburn is currently a 13.5-point favorite.

Mike Leach’s offense put up 44 points against LSU in the season-opening win but have scored a total of 54 points since in five games. It is Leach’s first season in charge in Starkville and numerous players have decided to transfer or opt out of the season, including star running back Kylin Hill.
