The Auburn Wire’s predictions for Tigers vs. LSU

The staff at The Auburn Wire make their predictions for Auburn vs. LSU.

We have arrived at the last day of October and, with it, the beginning of the second half of the 2020 Auburn football season. The Tigers host LSU in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday in a game that is expected to be close. The Bayou Bengals are currently three-point favorites over at BetMGM.

So who will pull out the victory between the two Tigers? The staff here at Auburn Wire have made our predictions.

Shea Brennaman

Auburn vs LSU is another must win situation for Gus Malzahn. Malzahn is 2-5 against the Bayou Bengals and hasn’t won since 2016. LSU displayed shades of greatness last week with their win against South Carolina, but are still allowing opponents over 5 yards per carry in rushing totals. If I’m Chad Morris I use the run game to my advantage and pump up Tank and Shivers’ numbers while Kevin Steele gets ready to create pandemonium for a freshman quarterback. I don’t like that the line swung to LSU’s favor in the middle of the week, but I think that win against South Carolina was just eye candy and I’m not buying it. Auburn for the win.

Prediction: Auburn 31, LSU 28

JD McCarthy

TJ Finley will be making his first road start Saturday and I expect Kevin Steele to have a game plan ready to make it a rough one.
The LSU defense is one of the worst in the SEC against the pass and struggles to make tackles. Auburn will be able to move the ball on the ground and take a couple shots through the air to Seth Williams.
Prediction: Auburn 27, LSU 20

Just like last week, my mind has gone back and forth on the final result of this game. Yes, LSU looked good against South Carolina. Yes, Auburn should be 1-4 and not 3-2. Yes, LSU lost to a 1-4 Mississippi State team.
To be honest, I just think LSU is a better team no matter who is in at quarterback and that will be the difference.
Prediction: LSU 28, Auburn 24

Early line has Auburn as slight favorites over LSU

Auburn is coming into Saturday’s game with a three-game losing streak to LSU.

It’s that time of the year when Auburn and LSU meet up so buckle up because you never know what is going to happen in this rivalry game.

The good people in Vegas have released early lines for this week’s slate of games and have the Tigers as two-point favorites over the visiting Bayou Bengals.

Auburn has lost three straight to LSU since the bizarre ending of the 2016 game when it appeared Les Miles’ team had scored the game-winning touchdown as time ran out but, on review, the clock had hit 0:00 before the snap. Miles was fired the following week, leading the way for Ed Orgeron to take over.

Here are some other early lines for SEC games this week:

Ole Miss (-18) at Vanderbilt

Mississippi State at Alabama (-33)

Arkansas at Texas A&M (-15)

Missouri at Florida (-15)

Georgia (-13) at Kentucky
