Auburn’s two-game losing streak hasn’t really cost the Tigers in any way when it comes to bowl projections.

247Sports released their latest projections after Week 13 of the college football season and still have Gus Malzahn’s team heading to Orlando to play in the Citrus Bowl. The only difference is that this week it is Northwestern that the Tigers are slotted to meet.

This could be a Top 15 team vs. unranked matchup in Orlando, a location Auburn is familiar with during bowl season. The Tigers have underperformed this fall relative to expectations while the Wildcats are an upset loss away from being unbeaten and likely ranked inside the Top 10.

Auburn and Northwestern have met once before, that coming in the 2010 Outback Bowl. The Tigers pulled out a 38-35 victory in what was a wild game.

There are not many things you can count on in the year 2020 but one of them is that Auburn will probably play its bowl game in Florida and the Tigers will probably play a team from the Big Ten.

Over at Sporting News, Bill Bender has released his latest bowl projections and has Auburn facing Indiana in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl in Orlando on New Year’s Day.

The Hoosiers are currently 5-1 with their only loss coming at Ohio State, 42-35. They will be without star quarterback Michael Penix for the rest of the season after he tore his ACL in Saturday’s victory over Maryland this past Saturday.

The two programs have met just once before, that coming in the 1990 Peach Bowl. Auburn pulled out a 27-23 victory in the old Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta.

Updated bowl projections from College Football News

The latest bowl projections from College Football News has Auburn playing Indiana in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Auburn took it on the chin this past Saturday in a 42-13 loss to rival Alabama. The Tigers look to rebound when they host No. 5/6 Texas A&M on Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

A win against the Aggies would likely improve the Tigers bowl projections but, as of right now, Gus Malzahn’s team is projected to play upstart Indiana from the Big Ten in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl in Orlando on January 1 by College Football News.

The Hoosiers’ only loss of the season came against No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus, a close 42-35 defeat to the Buckeyes. Tom Allen’s team will be without starting quarterback Michael Penix the rest of the year after he tore his ACL in the win over Maryland this past Saturday.
