Hawks at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 107, Hawks 102

Moneyline

PASS.

The odds are better on the Knicks (-155) spread.

Against the spread

BET KNICKS -3.5 (-105).

The Hawks have lost and failed to cover in each of their last 3 road games and are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 overall. They are playing without Young, who is a key part of their offense. Atlanta is 19-41 ATS this season.

New York is 31-28-2 ATS this season and is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 as a favorite. While Brunson is questionable, the Knicks proved their ability to play without him after his early exit in their Saturday road win. While this game should be close, expect the Knicks to come out on top by more than 2 possessions.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 215.5 (-115).

Atlanta has hit the Under in 7 of its last 10 games including 3 of its last 5 on the road and 5 of its last 6 overall. It has scored 109 or fewer in 3 of its last 4 and have held opponents to 114 or fewer in 3 of its last 4.

New York has hit the Under in 8 of its last 10 including each of its last 6 and each of its last 5 at home. It has scored 107 or fewer in each of its last 3 and 6 of its last 8 while allowing 111 or fewer in 5 of its last 8.

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Hawks (35-36) open a two-game road swing Tuesday with a game against the New York Knicks (30-41). Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. Below, we look at the Hawks vs. Knicks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Hawks are coming off a 117-112 home loss to the New Orleans Pelicans Sunday but had won four of their previous five games. They are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with a five-game lead over the 11th-place Washington Wizards and New York Knicks with 11 games left on their schedule. The 10th place team will participate in the play-in games to determine the final two playoffs seeds in the East.

The Knicks are wrapping up a four-game homestand Tuesday. They were blown out by the Utah Jazz 108-93 Sunday after winning the first two games of the homestand. New York has won five of its last eight games but lost 11 of 12 prior to that. They trail the Hawks by five games for the final play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.

Hawks at Knicks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 108, Hawks 105

Money line

The Knicks are 3-0 against the Hawks this season. They have not been great at home at 15-20, but the Hawks have struggled with a 12-22 record on the road this season.

The Hawks have lost three straight games on the road and five of their last six road games.

Take the KNICKS (+125).

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Hawks are 29-42 ATS overall this season and 10-24 ATS on the road. They have covered the spread in only two of their last 10 games. They failed to cover the spread in any of the three games against the Knicks this season.

The Knicks did not cover the spread in their last two games but did in seven straight outings before that. However, they are 14-21 ATS at home on the year.

While the money line is the better bet because of the payout, you can give yourself some points to play with and take the KNICKS +3.5 (-115) if you aren’t as certain about the straight-up win.

Over/Under

The previous three games between the two teams had totals of 189, 188 and 225. The Hawks failed to score 100 points in two of the games.

The Knicks only score 106.0 points per game, the fourth-lowest average in the league but have the eighth-best scoring defense at 106.8 points allowed.

The Hawks average 112.9 points per game and give up 112.1 points per game. They have not been held under 100 points in their last 10 games and have averaged 117.5 points per game in that stretch.

However, I think the Knicks’ defense will prevail.

Take UNDER 226.5 (-115).

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks Game 2 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks Game 2 NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The 5-seed Atlanta Hawks and 4-seed New York Knicks play Game 2 of their Eastern Conference first-round series Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hawks vs. Knicks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Hawks scratched out a 107-105 victory in Game 1 at MSG Sunday in front of a raucous crowd, the largest indoor gather post-pandemic in New York City.

The Knicks won their final three regular-season games, but they lost Game 1, and they have now failed to cover in three of the past four outings. The Under is 5-1 across the past six games, too.

Hawks at Knicks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 113, Hawks 109

Money line (ML)

KNICKS (-135) is a good bet for the bounce back, and they’re a strong play straight up rather than worrying about covering the spread. Game 1 was a tight affair, and Game 2 has the makings of another nail biter.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

KNICKS -2.5 (-105) haven’t played in three days. They are rested while looking for the bounce back. The Knicks are 13-4 ATS across the past 17 as a home favorite and 9-4 ATS in their past 13 at MSG. While the Hawks +2.5 (-115) won the opener, they’re still just 1-4 ATS in the past five trips to NYC.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 213.5 (-110) is worth a play in Game 2. The Over has connected in five of the past seven meetings in this series and four of the past five meetings in New York. Game 1 went Under slightly, but Game 2 will inch across the finish line for Over bettors – likely in the final minute or two.

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks Game 1 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks Game 1 NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The 4-seed New York Knicks host the 5-seed Atlanta Hawks Sunday at Madison Square Garden for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hawks-Knicks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Atlanta won the Southeast Division, finishing one game ahead of the Miami Heat, but are the 5-seed heading into the playoffs because the Hawks were swept in the season series by the Knicks.

New York clinched the 4-seed and homecourt advantage in the first round by winning its final three games and getting a little help from the Milwaukee Bucks who beat a Heat team that held the tiebreaker over the Knicks in the last week of the season.

The Knicks have won six of their last seven meetings with the Hawks (6-0-1 ATS) and a double-digit ATS margin in all six of those victories.

Hawks at Knicks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 113, Hawks 107

Money line (ML)

We are getting “reverse line movement” as the KNICKS (-115) have more money wagered and actual bets placed on them are becoming cheaper as this game opened with New York favored 2.5 points but is now a pick ’em.

Typically, bettors would be wise to avoid betting the more popular side that bookmakers are making cheaper under the “trap game” theory.

However, I’m okay rolling with the average Joe because we’ve seen this all year with the Knicks. They are one of the more popular teams in the NBA and New York is the feel-good story of the playoffs.

Oddsmakers keep giving the Knicks juicy odds, the “sharps” have continuously faded them, and New York backers have made a lot of money this season.

The Knicks’ 63.4% cover rate (45-26-1 ATS) is the highest mark in the NBA since the 2013-14 Phoenix Suns a 64.2% cover rate (52-29-1 ATS).

Finally, New York has the better coach and the best player in this series, and probable Most Improved Player of the Year, Julius Randle, has torched Atlanta.

Randle is averaging 37.3 points per game on 73.2% true shooting (.581/.500/.818), 12.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game in his three games against the Hawks this season.

GIMME the KNICKS (-115) for 1 unit.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS because the New York’s money line is only five cents on the dollar more expensive than Knicks -1 (-110), and we aren’t playing for a chop.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 213.5 (-110) for a one-third unit because five of the last six Hawks-Knicks meetings have gone Over the total.

Also, these teams have a combined 19-6 O/U record when Atlanta is a slight ‘dog, and New York is a slight favorite (the spread is between 1-2.5 points).

My hesitancy is the Hawks actually play really good perimeter defense (third in defensive 3-point percentage), and both teams play at a bottom-10 pace.

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

After extending their winning streak to seven games Tuesday night, the New York Knicks (32-27) will be back on their home floor Wednesday as the Atlanta Hawks (32-26) come to town. Tip-off at Madison Square Garden will be at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hawks-Knicks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Hawks have been playing some great basketball lately, winning eight of their last 10 games, including their last two against the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic. They sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, a half-game ahead of the Knicks. Atlanta has held up well on the road this season, too, going 16-15 away from home.

The Knicks have also won eight of their last 10 contests, helped by their current seven-game winning streak to push them five games above .500. Their most recent win was by 12 points over the Charlotte Hornets Tuesday night, a game in which they were favored by 5 points.

New York beat Charlotte despite PF Julius Randle scoring only 16 points, well below his season average of 23.6 points per game.

Hawks at Knicks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 112, Hawks 108

Money line (ML)

The Knicks continue to play well on both sides of the ball, holding five of their last 10 opponents to 101 or fewer points.

They’ve won seven straight and though the Hawks are playing well, too, New York’s defense will give them fits.

I like the KNICKS (+105) to win straight up tonight.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Knicks are short underdogs at home. It’s the seventh time in their last 11 games they’ve been spotted points.

They’ve covered the spread in 10 straight games, and in their last 10 meetings with the Hawks, the Knicks are 7-2-1 ATS.

Take the KNICKS +1.5 (-110) to cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total had gone Over in each of the Knicks’ last four games before the Under hit Tuesday . For the Hawks, the Under is 4-1 in their last five games.

So long as Atlanta isn’t without all of its aforementioned injured players, the OVER 218.5 (-110) looks good.
