Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Hawks (26-33) and Brooklyn Nets (23-36) face off Saturday. Tip-off from Barclays Center is set for 3 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Hawks vs. Nets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Brooklyn leads 2-1

Atlanta was routed by the Brooklyn Nets 124-97 Thursday while failing to cover as a 1-point road underdog. The Hawks have been held under 100 points in back-to-back road games. Thursday’s loss ended a short 2-game win streak for Atlanta.

Brooklyn shot 51.1% from the field and 47.8% from deep in the win while also out-rebounding the Hawks 43-39 and winning the turnover battle 14-10. Brooklyn has won 2 of its last 3 and has covered the spread in 5 consecutive wins.

Hawks at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 110, Hawks 107

Moneyline

LEAN NETS (+100).

Brooklyn is at home where it is 16-12-3 ATS. Atlanta, which is 9-18 ATS on the road and 11-17 straight up on the road, won’t have its leading scorer in G Trae Young (26.5 points per game).

Since the line is Nets +1, why take the point when we can get even-money with a straight-up win?

Against the spread

PASS.

I like the Nets to win outright, so I’m not going to bother taking the point. If you want insurance of the 1 point, I get it. Just don’t bet more than 1½ combined units between the Nets ML and the Nets spread.

Though these are not records to brag about, Brooklyn has been the better team ATS this season at 26-30-3, while Atlanta is 19-40 ATS.

Plus, Brooklyn has covered the spread vs. Atlanta in their last 5 meetings, dating to the middle of last season, and is 7-3 ATS vs. the Hawks in the last 10.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 218.5 (-110).

The Under is 5-1 in Brooklyn’s last 6 games and is 8-2 in its last 10 outings.  For the season, the Under is also 32-26-1 on the season in Nets games.

While Atlanta is 32-27 O/U on the season, the Under is 4-1 in its last 5 games, and top-scorer Young is out.

This is only a lean because the Over has been slightly safer for Atlanta this season and because the Over/Under battles have been even in recent Atlanta/Brooklyn matchups — 2-2 in the last 4, 5-5 in the last 10.

Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Hawks (38-38) battle the Brooklyn Nets (41-35) Friday. Tip from Barclays Center is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Hawks vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Brooklyn is 2-1 straight (SU) and against the spread (ATS) vs. Atlanta this season, but those 2 Nets’ victories came before they traded F Kevin Durant. The Over cashed in 2 of the 3 matchups.

Atlanta beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-118 Tuesday but failed to cover as a 3-point home favorite. It is 4-3 SU over its last 7 games, alternating between wins and losses. The Hawks are also 4-3 ATS over that span, improving to 34-42 ATS on the season.

The Nets are coming off a 123-114 win over the Houston Astros Wednesday, failing to cover as a 10.5-point home favorite. They are 2-6 SU and ATS over their last 8 games, slipping to 38-36-2 ATS this season.

Hawks at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 118, Hawks 114

Moneyline

LEAN NETS (-105).

The Hawks have not been great on the road this season. They lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves (125-124, March 22) and San Antonio Spurs (126-118, March 19) in their last 2 road battles and are just 2-7 over their last 9 road games. Atlanta is 16-22 away from home.

Brooklyn has won 2 of its last 3 games but is just 2-4 over its last 6 home matches. However, those losses came to the Cavaliers (twice), Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings — all much better teams than Atlanta.

Against the spread

The spread was OTB at the time of publication, but this is likely to be a 1- or 2-point spread when it is available and I’d rather just PASS anyway and focus on the moneyline.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 241.5 (-110).

The Hawks are 2-5 O/U in their last 7 games and are 1-2 O/U in their last 3 road games.

The Nets are 4-4 O/U in their last 8 games, yet none of those had a total this high. This will be the Nets’ highest total of the season.

The Nets rank 20th in pace and rank 18th in points per game (113.5). With defensively-talented players like F Mikal Bridges, the Nets should be able to slow down Atlanta.

Take the UNDER 241.5 (-110).

Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

The Atlanta Hawks (13-12) will take on the Brooklyn Nets (14-12) on Friday at Barclays Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Hawks vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Hawks were blown out 113-89 by the New York Knicks on Wednesday as they failed to cover as 2-point underdogs on the road. Atlanta has now lost 2 games in a row and 5 of its last 7 games.

The Nets secured a 122-116 victory against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, but fell short of covering as 10.5-point favorites. Brooklyn has won 5 of its last 6 games.

Hawks at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 117, Hawks 108

Moneyline

Even though the Nets are favored to win at home, AVOID the moneyline in this game. Taking Brooklyn straight up isn’t worth doing considering the minimal return you’ll receive if the Nets win.

Against the spread

NETS -6.5 (-120) appears to be the logical choice in this game with how both of these teams have been playing recently. The Hawks are without Murray, so G Trae Young is going to be relied on to initiate most of the offense.

The Hawks are 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games against teams with a home winning percentage of greater than .600. Plus, Atlanta is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 road meetings against Brooklyn.

Over/Under

With Murray sidelined for the Hawks, UNDER 227.5 (-105) is an intriguing wager in this game. Young can score points in bunches for the Hawks despite his shooting woes thus far, but he won’t be enough to hit the Over.

The Hawks have hit the Under in 13 of their last 17 road games against a team with a winning home record. Meanwhile, the Nets have gone 4-1 to the Under in their last 5 games.

Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

On Wednesday evening, the Atlanta Hawks (4-3) will head north to take on the Brooklyn Nets (4-3) at Barclays Center. The game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawks at Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Hawks are coming in 1-2 in their last three games with two double-figure losses to playoff-contending teams in the East. After a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, this team is struggling amid the new rules regarding unnatural shooting fouls.

That’s hurting a player like superstar G Trae Young, who is down to 5.3 free throws per game. However, Nets’ SG James Harden has been arguably the most impacted by the rule change.

With Brooklyn having been carried by SF Kevin Durant while the former MVP adjusts, the Nets will enter a high-profile, nationally televised game as favorites. Brooklyn has won three of its last four games.

Hawks at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 113, Hawks 105

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The value is more with the Hawks at (+160), but given that I don’t think they’ll come out on top, I’m passing on this one and looking for the most value in the points.

Against the spread

BET the NETS -4.5 (-120) as the better side of the spread. The Nets didn’t start out the season well, but they’ve managed to fill the role emptied by Irving’s absence.

Over the last three games, the Durant-led side has had the third-best defensive rating. On the season, Brooklyn ranks ninth in defensive rating, having been blown out several times resulting in a negative net rating. That compares favorably to the Hawks positioned at 17th.

Nonetheless, Brooklyn has looked far better recently. Harden had his first triple-double in their last game. He’s starting to figure the new rule out, shooting 19 free throws the game prior.

With Durant’s length and the veteran savvy off the bench, I expect the Nets to come out on top, and given the way the NBA plays with late-game fouling extending some performances, I expect them to cover the near six-point spread.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 220.5 (-110) as the better side of the total. As noted the Nets defense has been improved recently.

Also, it’s key to note Young’s decline in free throw attempts. League-wise, scoring has been down. The Hawks are averaging more than five fewer points per game this season.

Despite having Young, the Hawks are oddly 28th in three-point attempts per game. Considering Atlanta is a bottom-ten team in pace and the Nets also rank outside the top ten, a slower game seems in store.

Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Atlanta Hawks (3-1) try to bounce back from a loss to the Brooklyn Nets (3-2) in the second of a back-to-back between the two teams on New Year’s Day. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Barclays Center.

The Nets outlasted the Hawks 145-141 as 5.5-point home favorites in what was the most high-octane matchup of the NBA season. Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant was spectacular as he poured in a season-high 33 points on 11-for-22 shooting with 11 rebounds and 8 assists. But a couple of the Hawks’ building blocks came to play as fourth-year PF John Collins and third-year All-Star PG Trae Young both scored 30 points in Atlanta’s loss.

Atlanta has scored 141 points in each of their previous two meetings with Brooklyn dating back to last season—both with Young in the lineup—but only scored 86 points in the first game vs. the Nets last year, which Young missed with an injury.

Below, we analyze the Hawks-Nets NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Hawks at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 127, Hawks 113

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE because I like the favorite but have a personal rule of not betting an NBA team in the regular season favored -150 or greater.

Against the spread (ATS)

Brooklyn’s early season troubles with controlling the glass showed itself last game when they were out-rebounded 64-45 by Atlanta. But if the Hawks don’t maintain that same tenacity on the glass, then I don’t see how they can beat the Nets Friday.

Atlanta is 27th in defensive rating, and Brooklyn is the only playoff team last year they’ve faced thus far. Plus while Hawks-Nets come into Friday’s game as first and second in points per game in the NBA, Brooklyn has a higher net in effective field-goal percentage.

BET NETS -6.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

It’s easy to assume we’ll get a similar Hawks-Nets game like the one we saw Wednesday, but these teams are only a combined 3-6 O/U so far this season and it’s not like their offensive firepower is a surprise. Bookmakers have already moved this total down from a 247-point consensus opener to its current number.

From a basketball POV, I like the Nets to slow down the pace of this game and try to run some more half-court offense as a pose to getting into an up-and-down shootout with a young upstart like the Hawks. Officially, I lean UNDER 244.5 (-105) for a half-unit.
