Penn State offensive lineman participating in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

Penn State offensive lineman Eric Wilson is the long Nittany Lion in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

The Senior Bowl may get all of the recognition when it comes to college football all-star games, but this weekend is a pretty important one for a number of players hoping to catch the eyes of the NFL. The first of the three most notable college football all-star games will be played this weekend with the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl kicking off in the Rose Bowl on Saturday evening.

Penn State offensive lineman Eric Wilson will be among those playing in the game, which is the only college all-star game directly connected with the NFL. Wilson will get one final chance to put on the pads and helmet and show what he can do against other talented players from across the college football spectrum as they hope to show NFL scouts they belong in the professional ranks.

Wilson started in 12 games for Penn State in 2021 after transferring to the program from Harvard. With the Crimson, Wilson played in 22 games from 2017 through 2019 (Harvard and the rest of the Ivy League did not play football in 2020 due to the pandemic).

The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl will air on NFL Network beginning at 6 p.m. ET. Wilson is the 10th player from Penn State to make an appearance in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Moving forward, the East-West Shrine Game will be played on Thursday, February 3 in Las Vegas. Linebacker Ellis Brooks and defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo each accepted invitations to play in the game.

The Senior Bowl is scheduled for next Saturday, February 5 at 2:30 p.m. ET. Tariq Castro-Fields, Arnold Ebiketie, Jesse Luketa, Jordan Stout, and Jahan Dotson have all accepted invites and are on the National team roster to be coached by the staff of the New York Jets.

2022 NFL Draft Profile: Arnold Ebiketie

Arnold Ebiketie’s monster season at Penn State makes him an NFL draft prospect to watch closely.

As we continue breaking down the talent level of current Penn State 2022 NFL Draft prospects, we continue on the defensive side of the ball with Penn State defensive end Arnold Ebiketie.

The Temple transfer did nothing but turn heads all season for both Penn State and draft analysts, and it’s clear why.

He has soared his way up draft boards and has even found is way into first-round mock drafts.

Let’s take a more in-depth look and break down the game of Nittany Lions 2022 NFL Draft prospect Arnold Ebiketie.

With just two games left in the regular season, not only are we closer to bowl season, but we are also closer to the 2022 NFL Draft. We’ve spent the past few weeks highlighting some key Penn State players that have been in first-round mock drafts.

Guys like Jahan Dotson, Brandon Smith and Jaquan Brisker have all been featured in first-round 2022 NFL mock drafts. This week, however, we have a new name selected in the first round out of Penn State. This player has done nothing but soar his way up the draft boards the past few weeks.

The newest Penn State player featured in a first-round mock draft by CBS Sports is defensive end Arnold Ebiketie. CBS Sports writer Chris Trapasso has Ebiketie being selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 13th overall pick.

The Vikings desperately need pass rusher help. Sure, they did extend Danielle Hunter, but they still lack depth on the outside. The Temple transfer has had an impressive season at Penn State and would be a nice addition to a team in need of help getting to the quarterback.

Ebiketie has developed into one of the most productive players on the Penn State defense this season. He has become much more active with his hands and is extremely quick off the ball.

Ebiketie is having a career year with the Nittany Lions, with 31 solo tackles, 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Ebiketie also excepted to receive a Senior Bowl invite this week down in Mobile, Alabama. Jesse Luketa has accepted his invite already.

There are a good amount of analysts out there that have Ebiketie as a day two draft pick, but his rise this season has been noticeable. This is a talented edge rusher class, but if Ebiketie keeps this performance up, he could hear his name called earlier than expected come April.

As of right now, it seems very likely that Penn State will have four defensive players selected in the first two rounds of the draft. You can now add Ebiketie to that list of impressive players coming out of State College.

5 takeaways from Penn State’s Week 4 win vs Villanova

Penn State’s passing offense and defense were on point against Villanova, but the running game has to improve.

After starting off the 2020 season in abysmal fashion with a program-worst 0-5 start, Penn State has done nothing but win games since. Penn State’s 38-17 victory over Villanova on Saturday afternoon in Beaver Stadium was the eighth consecutive win for the Nittany Lions dating back to the midway point of the 2020 season.

Penn State head coach James Franklin can feel really good about his team jumping into Big Ten play for the remainder of the season knowing his offense has big-play potential but also has some things to improve on the rest of the way.

Here are five takeaways from Penn State’s latest victory.

Sean Clifford continues to impress

Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford became just the second passer in program history to throw for 400 yards in a single game (401 yards, officially). Clifford’s third career four-touchdown performance also saw him make a move up on the school’s all-time career touchdown passing list. Clifford’s Week 4 performance saw him moving up a few all-time passing lists in Penn State history, and he’s clearly not done yet.

Clifford continues to impress with his poise and decision-making. He was intercepted for the second time this season, but neither has come on a poor decision. His first against Auburn was a deep pass that was disrupted by contact from an Auburn defender as he released the ball in Week 3. His second, this time against Villanova was on a pass that was right to his receiver but bobbled. It certainly wasn’t Clifford’s fault. If Penn State continues to get play like this from Clifford, this offense will have more big plays on the way.

Parker Washington has cemented his status

Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

We sort of already knew Parker Washignton was likely to be the team’s second-best receiver this season. Washington was the team’s second-leading receiver last season behind Jahan Dotson, and it is looking like we are well on our way to seeing the same result this season. But on Saturday, it was the Parker Washignton show with a game-high 148 receiving yards on five receptions. Washignton also scored two touchdowns.
