Texas A&M senior OL finished the 2024 season as the country top run blocker’s

Texas A&M right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams is entering his final collegiate season as the nations top run blocker

Texas A&M’s 2024 offensive line didn’t receive the praise it deserved compared to what we witnessed the season prior, as first-year OL coach Adam Cushing’s immediate impact in the trenches is a great sign for the program’s future.

Offensively, Texas A&M produced 2,734 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, combined with 2,734 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns, aided by the run blocking from senior offensive lineman Ar’maj Reed-Adams, who started at right guard for most of the 2024 season.

In late December, just weeks after the conclusion of the season, Reed-Adams announced his return for a final season with the Aggies amid rumors that he would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, as every 2024 starter, including left tackle Trey Zuhn, left guard Chase Bisontis, injured center Mark Nabou, and right tackle duo Dametreious Crownover and Reuben Fatheree.

According to Pro Football Focus, Reed-Adams finished the season with the highest run-blocking grade in the nation (86.1) and a 79.8 overall defensive grade, while 18 offensive linemen earned at least 60 grades for the season.

With the return of star running back Le’Veon Moss, paired with Reuben Owens, Amari Daniels, and two freshmen additions, Texas A&M’s running game will be the focus under OC Collin Klein, making Reed-Adam’s return more critical.

Texas A&M vs. USC final injury report ahead of Friday’s Las Vegas Bowl

Here is the updated injury report for Texas A&M before the Aggies take on USC in Friday’s Las Vegas Bowl

Texas A&M (8-4) will face USC (6-6) in the annual Las Vegas Bowl on Friday night as coach Mike Elko looks to end the year on a high note and lead his team to its first nine-win season since the 2020 campaign.

This week, the Aggies and Trojans made a stylish entrance in Las Vegas, as both teams aim to conclude the 2024 season with victories, carrying momentum into the 2025 offseason.

However, this matchup is another opportunity for Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed to improve as a passer, which will go a long way toward achieving stark improvement heading into spring football.

On Thursday, Mike Elko and USC coach Lincoln Riley spoke to the media, previewing several position groups and player progress. At the same time, Elko also noted several injury updates centered around sophomore running back Rueben Owens and junior starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams.

KBTX Texas A&M reporter Travis Brown shared a photo of Reed-Adams with his left arm in a sling. The experienced offensive lineman suffered multiple injuries over the season, and it seems unlikely that he will participate on Friday.

Concerning Rueben Owens, Elko stated that despite his solid week of practice, nothing is guaranteed regarding his snap count:

“He has had a good week of preparation. He is not all the way back. That is a five-month injury. We are at four months.”

Elko also stated that since his last press conference earlier this month, there were no more player opt-outs.

Note: TexAgs’ Billy Liucci confirmed that running back Amari Daniels, linebacker Scooby Williams, and cornerback Jayvon Thomas will not play against USC.

Texas A&M vs. USC in the Las Vegas Bowl will occur on Friday, Dec. 27, at 9:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN.

Texas A&M will possibly be down an offensive lineman for the Las Vegas Bowl

Texas A&M offensive lineman OL Ar’maj Reed-Adams is questionable after being spotted in a sling for the Las Vegas Bowl luncheon

Texas A&M (8-4, 5-3 SEC) will face the USC Trojans (6-6, 4-5 Pac 12) on December 27 in Las Vegas in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl.

While USC faces a shortage of players, the Aggies will also be missing several contributors on Saturday night. At the Las Vegas Bowl luncheon on Thursday, starting offensive lineman Ar’maj Reed-Adams was spotted wearing a sling on his left arm. Although there’s no official update at this time, more information is expected as game time approaches.

Currently, he is listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury. Reed started every game and was part of a solid group that finished 22nd in the nation at almost 200 yards a game. If he does miss the game, it will be a tough spot to fill, but it will allow one of the younger guys to gain some valuable experience.

Texas A&M OL Ar’maj Reed-Adams has announed his future plans

Texas A&M starting right guard Ar’Maj Reed-Adams will return for the 2025 season!

Texas A&M’s 2025 offensive line is on pace to return four out of five starters from the 2024 season, which now includes starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams, one of the top-rated pass protectors and run blockers in the country during his first season in College Station.

Per Pro Football Focus, Reed-Adams was one of the top-performing blockers on the team, earning a 76 offensive grade, 79.9 pass-blocking grade, and 81.0 run-blocking grade.

Though his return is significant, it is a surprise, considering he was projected to be a second or third-round pick in the NFL Draft. Kudos to head coach Mike Elko for demonstrating that the emerging culture at Texas A&M is encouraging players to come back, contributing to the Aggies’ pursuit of a spot in the College Football Playoff.

After transferring from Kansas, Reed-Adams earned his way into the starting lineup due to his size, strength, and aggressive play. He is also one of the more versatile offensive linemen on the roster due to his experience at both tackle spots.

Ar’maj Reed-Adams joins running back Le’Veon Moss as the third and fourth players to announce their returns for the 2025 season.

Notable Pro Football Focus grades after Texas A&M’s 34-24 win against Mississippi State

Here are some of the notable PFF grades from Texas A&M’s 34-24 win over Mississippi State

14th-ranked Texas A&M (6-1, 4-0 SEC) remains in first place in the SEC standings after defeating Mississippi State 34-24 on Saturday afternoon, as the Aggies will host 8th-ranked LSU inside what could be a sold-out Kyle Field in Week 9.

While a win is a win, Texas &M’s offense left too many plays on the field, mainly due to starting quarterback Conner Weigman’s poor footwork and accuracy issues that led to two costly interceptions. However, enough plays were made through the air and on the ground, including junior running back Le’Veon Moss’s two rushing touchdowns.

Defensively, head coach Mike Elko and DC Jay Bateman made several adjustments that led to an impressive second-half outing, as the Aggies pressured Bulldogs freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren and essentially shut down Mississippi’s passing attack.

After the game, Pro Football Focus released the latest grades from the matchup. Here are the most notable grades on both sides of the ball for every Texas A&M contributor:

Offense:

Quarterback Conner Weigman finished the game with a team-low 48.5 PFF grade, a 36.1 offensive grade, and 33.1 passing grade within a clean pocket. Weigman’s two interceptions came in a clean pocket, as the signal caller was only pressured. Overall, this was one of his worst career performances.

On the offensive line, starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams was stellar once again, finishing with the second highest pass blocking grade (85.8), while starting left tackle Trey Zuhn led the team with an 88.2 pass blocking grade, which is good for third among 209 offensive tackles.

In 38 snaps, senior wide receiver Jabre Barber finished with a team-high 78.9 offensive grade, and and 80.4 receiving grade after leading the team with 92 receiving yards.

Defense:

Defensively, junior linebacker Scooby Williams led the unit with an 84.6 defensive grade, paired with a 84.9 run defense grade and a 77.7 pass rushing grade after recording six tackles and two tackles for loss, including his first career interception.

Sophomore linebacker Taurean York led the Aggies with 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, earning 69.0 defensive grade and a team-high 84.7 tackling grade in one his his better career performances.

On the defensive line, defensive tackle Shemar Turner and defensive end Rylan Kennedy were consistently in the backfield making plays, finishing with impressive defensive grades and pass rush marks:

Shemar Turner: 84.3 defensive grade (season-high), 76.9 run-defense grade, 75.9 defensive grade, and a 79.2 pass-rush grade.

Rylan Kennedy: 75.9 defensive grade, 53.9 run-defense grade, 70.8 pass rush grade.

Texas A&M will host LSU at home on Saturday, Oct. 26th, at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ABC.

Texas A&M’s Week 7 Bye Week injury report features plenty of good news

Texas A&M should be in the best shape its been health wise before taking on Mississippi State next weekend

Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0 SEC) is a little less than a week removed from demolishing a top-10-ranked Missouri team 41-10 last Saturday afternoon. The Aggies moved to an impressive 3-0 in SEC play and are leading the conference standings.

After the win, head coach Mike Elko quickly noted that despite dealing with several injury issues this season, including starting quarterback Conner Weigman, who dealt with a shoulder injury before returning against the Tigers, the team is in great shape health-wise.

In his first start since Texas A&M’s Week 2 52-10 win over McNeese, Weigman completed 18/22 for 276 yards in one of the more memorable and impressive outings in his young career as the redshirt sophomore looks to remain the starter after backup Marcel Reed went 3-0 in his absence.

While it isn’t known if Weigman is 100% healed, another week and weekend off to rest and recuperate should have him back to preseason form.

Elko also noted after the game that starting right guard Ar’Maj Reed-Adams, who has dealt with a lower-body issue, is “fine,” while center TJ Shanahan, who has missed the last two games, could be back against Mississippi State, as Elko is holding out hope going into next week’s practice.

Texas A&M’s final injury report ahead of facing Missouri

Could Conner Weigman start against Missouri?

Texas A&M (4-1, 2-0 SEC) will face the undefeated 9th-ranked Missouri Tigers (4-0, 1-0 SEC) for an early 11:00 a.m. kickoff on Saturday afternoon. Aggies’ head coach Mike Elko continued to play coy regarding who will start at quarterback, with redshirt sophomore Conner Weigman returning to practice this week.

On Saturday morning, ESPN CFB insider Pete Thamel revealed that Weigman is healthy enough to play. At the same time, Elko pointed toward the signal caller, who could return to the starting lineup after missing the last three games.

However, according to the final SEC availability report, Weigman and starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams are listed as game-time decisions just minutes before kickoff.

Only two players are listed as out for Missouri, defensive end Darris Smith and quarterback Sam Horn, while wide receiver Marquis Johnson is listed as questionable.

Overall, both teams entered the game with minor health concerns.

Note: Conner Weigman was lining up with the first-team offense during warmups.

Texas A&M will host Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:00 a.m. CT. The game will air on ABC and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Texas A&M Pro Football Focus grades after defeating Bowling Green

Here are some of the Pro Football Focus grades from Texas A&M’s 26-20 win over Bowling Green

Texas A&M (3-1, 1-0 SEC) defeated Bowling Green 26-20 in a game that was way too close for comfort from start to finish, as quarterback Marcel Reed made his second consecutive start amid Conner Weigman’s ongoing shoulder injury.

In a game where the Aggies never trailed, it certainly felt like the home team was playing from behind, as Reed and the offense failed to find consistency through the air, while the run game stalled out on multiple possessions but still produced 235 yards on the ground.

Defensively, the D-line was great against the run, limiting the Falcons to 85 rushing yards, while Shemar Turner and Shemar Stewart recorded their first sacks of the year. While defensive end Nic Scourton finished second on the team in tackles, the junior knows the pass rush must improve.

“I thought the D-line played OK. We are supposed to be a dominant force on that defense… It’s a lot of holes and stuff that we can fix and put less stress on the backend.”

While the score was close compared to the pregame expectations, Pro Football Focus’s newest player ratings show progress from several players on offense and defense.

Along the offensive line, starting left tackle Trey Zuhn III (88.8 pass-blocking grade) and right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams (86.1 pass-blocking grade) did now allow a pressure in 30-plus pass-pro snaps. At the same time, backup center Koli Faaiu, who came in for the injured TJ Shanahan, finished the game with a team-high 80.8 offensive grade.

Returning to Scourton (6 tackles, one tackle for loss) and Stewart (2 tackles, one sack), both defensive linemen recorded the highest defensive grades on the night. In the secondary, safety Marcus Ratcliffe recorded his third interception in three consecutive games, recording three tackles on the night. Here are the rest of the notable PFF defensive grades.

  • LB Scooby Williams (81.5)
  • LB Taurean York (82.0)
  • LB Daymion Sanford (80.9)
  • CB Will Lee III (81.1)
  • CB Jaydon Hill (80.0)
  • S Marcus Ratcliffe (70.4)

Note: In an earlier article, we examined quarterback Marcel Reed’s PFF grades.

Texas A&M will face Arkansas inside AT&T Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN.

‘We just got to be better’ players react to Texas A&M’s 26-20 win over Bowling Green

Even in a win, Texas A&M enters next week with a lot of unanswered questions

Texas A&M (3-1, 1-0 SEC) defeated the visiting Bowling Green Falcons (1-2) on Saturday night, only to leave a packed Kyle Field with an underwhelming 26-20 victory that certainly could have gone the other way if it wasn’t for kicker Randy Bond’s four field goals.

It was a win that felt like a loss to the fans, media members, and even Aggies head coach Mike Elko, who knows that resting on your laurels usually results in similar outcomes to what we saw on Saturday night.

“This is what I said to the guys… ‘If you ever relax in this game, it will find a way to humble you instantly.'”

“You have a big road win and you tend to relax because that human nature… You can’t do that.”

Offensively, backup quarterback Marcel Reed made his second consecutive start, finishing the game with 173 yards through the air and two touchdowns while running for 91 yards. However, he was inaccurate for most of the game due to a lack of wide receiver separation and poor blocking up front.

After the game, starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams and defensive end Nic Scourton joined Elko at the podium to speak to the media. Adams noted the offense’s loose play, which resulted in several lapses, including a late fumble by running back Le’Veon Moss.

“It just got a little loose at the end. We kept the intensity the same throughout the week.”

“Things don’t change because we won a road game. We just got to be better.”

Scourton, who finished the game with six tackles, a tackle for loss, and a QB hurry, felt like the defensive line played well throughout the game but, like all of us have observed, noted that this unit has not lived up to its preseason hype, recording just two sacks on the night.

“I thought the D-line played OK. We are supposed to be a dominant force on that defense… It’s a lot of holes and stuff that we can fix and put less stress on the backend.”

However, one bright spot on defense was holding Bowling Green to 89 yards on the ground. This was the second consecutive game this season that A&M’s defense has kept teams under the 100-yard mark.

Initial injury reports ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 2 matchup vs. McNeese State

Here is Texas A&M’s initial injury report ahead of facing McNeese State, barring any last minute changes

Texas A&M’s Week 2 home matchup vs. McNeese State represents an opportunity for the Aggie offense to find some life after scoring only 13 points in the season opener 23-13 loss to Notre Dame, starting with vast improvement from starting quarterback Conner Weigman.

During Saturday’s game, several Aggies across the roster dealt with injury issues, especially on the offensive line, as head coach Mike Elko reported on Monday that junior center Mark Nabou, who started against Notre Dame, sustained a season-ending lower-body injury.

“I’ll give you one injury report Mark Nabou unfortunately is going to be out for the rest of the year”

He didn’t get into the specifics, but he confirmed it was a lower leg injury.

” lower leg deal that’s all I’ll say in regards to that. yeah it’s an impact because Mark’s a really good football player but it’s football and injuries happen and the next guy’s got to play.”

Outside of Nabou, starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams sustained a minor injury, but is okay to go this weekend after the Week 2 depth chart revealed that he is back in the lineup.

On Wednesday, during his weekly SEC Teleconference, Mike Elko noted that former Troy WR Jabre Barber is slowly but surely progressing and could be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.

Texas A&M will host McNeese on Saturday, Sept. 7, for an early kickoff at 11:45 a.m. The game will air on the SEC Network.
