While normally I would wager the Underdog here when I like them to win outright, UCLA is a different favorite than most.

Although it is dealing with injuries, UCLA is still talented enough to win this game. Hence while it is favored despite the issues it is having. I still see Arizona being able to pull this game off. But in this instance, I will use the extra 1.5 points of comfort and bet on the spread rather than the ML. But a sprinkle on the Arizona ML is not a bad play either.

Against the spread

Take ARIZONA +1.5 (-120).

Arizona has been able to cover the spread in 8 of its last 10 games against a team with a win percentage above .600.

With Clark out for the season, UCLA will have a difficult time in defending the Wildcats, and this will allow Arizona to outscore the Bruins.

UCLA came down the stretch with so much promise. But injuries have derailed their hopes of a Pac-12 Championship, and more importantly for coach Cronin, a national championship. This should still be a competitive game, but the wrong team is favored. I will take the 1.5 points with Arizona.

Over/Under

OVER 147.5 (-115)

If both teams were at full strength, this would be an Under play. With the Bruins missing its best defender, this will allow the Wildcats to use its offense, which ranks 5th at 83.1 points to put up points against a UCLA defense that ranks 7th at 60.1 points.

This game will turn into a shootout as Arizona scores, and UCLA will be forced to keep up.

This game could easily hit 170. But at 147.5, the Over is a great value.

UCLA -19.5 (-111) is where I’ll go in this game with the Bruins looking like the far superior team right now. Arizona won’t have any answers for QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and UCLA’s running game on Saturday night.

The favorite is 11-3-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings between the Wildcats and the Bruins. Also, Arizona is 2-7-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings.

Over/Under

Despite it being a high total, I’ll go with OVER 77.5 (-110) with UCLA being involved in the game. The Bruins are capable of scoring 50-plus points themselves and the Wildcats have shown they can score with 37 points against USC and 39 points against Washington this season.

The Over is 5-1-1 in Arizona’s last 7 road games while UCLA has hit the Over in 6 straight following a win. Both these teams also have a combined 13-5 record to the Over this season.

The 13th-ranked Bruins have won five in a row while covering four of the outings. UCLA will be looking to win the third and final meeting between these teams this season. He is the team’s fourth-leading scorer at 10.0 PPG. While the Wildcats got it done against Colorado without him, they’ll need all hands on deck against UCLA. Without a starter, the Wildcats will have a difficult time.

Against the spread

UCLA +1.5 (-120) is a better play on the money line unless you’re dead-set on this being a one-point loss for the Bruins. That’s the only reason to make this play rather than the more profitable money line wager.

Over/Under

The OVER 142.5 (-108) is the best play on the board. Arizona has registered 81 or more points in each of the past five outings, hitting the Over in each game. While the Under cashed in each of the regular-season meetings between these teams, Arizona’s offense has been strong lately. It’s unlikely UCLA will be able to clamp down on the Wildcats like they did against Washington State and USC in the tourney so far.

Shaky February losses at USC and Washington State have knocked UCLA out of the top-25. From an analytics standpoint, the Bruins haven’t really been at their best since mid-January. Thursday’s game marks just UCLA’s second contest at home since Jan. 16. The Bruins are 9-0 at Pauley Pavilion.
UCLA defeated Arizona, 81-76, in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 9. The Wildcats are 0-4 straight-up and 0-4 against the spread over their last four games against the Bruins. Since 2013, UA is 2-5 ATS at UCLA.
From an analytics standpoint, Arizona ranks second and sixth, respectively, in offensive and defensive efficiency among Pac-12 schools. The Wildcats are adept at creating and avoiding turnovers, and their overall rebounding ranks first in the conference. UA was out-rebounded in its last game, a 63-61 home loss to Oregon on Saturday. Six-foot-10 F Jalen Hill (personal) is listed as questionable for Thursday’s game. Hill is UCLA’s fourth-leading rebounder, but he’s a bigger factor than his 5.5 rebounds per game when UCLA is at its best.

I haven’t seen enough out of this Arizona team to even have a little confidence in the Wildcats as underdogs and no way I am paying that kind of price for a UCLA outright win.

Against the spread (ATS)

This Chip Kelly thing is starting to come together at UCLA and the offense is settling into his system. The Bruins rank 21st in points per game, 27th in yards per game and 16th in 3rd down conversion percentage.

It’s not an overreaction to assume UCLA’s offense will have success when you look at this Arizona defense. The Wildcats sit at 117th in opponent’s points per game, 114th in opponent’s yards per game and 102nd in opponent’s 3rd down conversion percentage.

Sight unseen with Thompson-Robinson’s health status, I go against my better judgment and TAKE UCLA -11 (-110) for 1 unit as a home conference favorite.

Over/Under (O/U)

There are way too many points projected by BetMGM here and I’m on the UNDER 69.5 (-110) for 1 unit. No question UCLA should be able to put up points against Arizona but I don’t see the Wildcats offense having much success.

I figure UCLA will sustain drives with its ground game and that’ll eat up the clock. The Bruins are 17th in rushing yards per game while the Wildcats are 109th in opponent’s yards per rush.

Also, UCLA is due for some turnover luck as it has done a good job getting into the backfield—the Bruins have 27 tackles for a loss in 3 games—but are minus-7 in turnover differential and Arizona has zero takeaways.

GIMME UNDER 69.5 (-110).
