Rookie LB BJ Ojulari still might not make preseason debut this week

Jonathan Gannon still needs to see certain things in practice from Ojulari.

Arizona Cardinals second-round pick BJ Ojulari, an outside linebacker, began training camp on PUP with a knee injury. He was activated off the list but did not get any work in the Cardinals’ preseason opener.

With another week of practice, one might think Ojulari could be on track to make his preseason debut.

That might not happen this week.

“Not sure yet (whether he will play),” said head coach Jonathan Gannon on Wednesday. “We’re going to be smart with him. I need to see something from him in practice before I feel comfortable putting him in a game.”

The longer Ojulari is out and doesn’t get live game reps, the less likely it is that he has a significant role in the defense, at least early in the season.

If he can’t go on Saturday, hopefully he will have progressed enough to play in the preseason finale next Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Cardinals likely to host Georgia OT Broderick Jones for top-30 visit

Jones is an intriguing option for the Cardinals if they trade back from the No. 3 pick.

The Arizona Cardinals could have their eyes on a first-round tackle and perhaps it is in preparation for a trade back from the third overall pick in the draft.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Georgia offensive lineman Broderick Jones, expected to be drafted in the first round, will have official visits with several teams and one likely team are the Cardinals.

The visit is interesting because Jones isn’t projected by most the be a top-10 pick.

The Cardinals have the third pick in the draft but are rumored to be shopping the pick.

Depending on whether they trade it and how far back they go, Jones could be in play.

Also, if Jones for whatever reason were to fall out of the first round, the Cardinals have the third pick in the second round.

Jones was the Bullgdogs’ starting left tackle for both their championship seasons.

He is 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds with almost 35-inch arms. he ran the 40 at the combine in 4.97 seconds.

NFL Week 9 bold prediction: Brian Flores and the Dolphins will stump Kyler Murray

A big week for the Dolphins.

The Arizona Cardinals just beat one of the NFL’s best teams, the Seattle Seahawks, and the leading MVP candidate, Russell Wilson. And yet in Week 9, Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury seem destined for a loss.

The Cardinals will face the Miami Dolphins, a team which (unlike the Seahawks) has an outstanding defense. Coach Brian Flores and his defense have allowed the NFL’s fewest points per game (18.6). While Kingsbury gets endless love for his offense, Flores’ defense is not getting enough love for that league-leading defense.

Even though the Dolphins have turned over the quarterback gig to Tua Tagovailoa and even though the rookie was quite underwhelming in Week 8 (54.5 completion percentage, 93 yards, one touchdown, one fumble), he should manage the game well enough for his defense to lead Miami to victory.
