The best uncommitted football player in the country has made his decision.

Archbishop Carroll (DC) five-star Athlete Nyckoles Harbor just announced that he has committed to playing college football at the University of South Carolina.

Harbor (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) is arguably the most versatile player in this recruiting class. He plays wide receiver, edge and serves as a returner on special teams. He’s ranked first among prospects who play multiple positions and No. 19 nationally.

It’s a huge recruiting win for the Gamecocks, who have been favored to get Harbor’s commitment for several months. Head coach Shane Beamer couldn’t contain his excitement after the news broke.

Michigan and Maryland were also in the running and Oregon made a late push over the weekend, but in the end Harbor chose South Carolina, which has arguably had a better start to the new year than any other program in the country.

The Gamecocks’ class of 2023 ranks No. 19 in the nation.

He’s also the top-ranked overall prospect among those who have not yet committed to a college program.

The No. 1 Athlete in the recruiting class of 2023 is Nyckoles Harbor from Archbishop Carroll (DC). He’s also the top-ranked overall prospect among those who have not yet committed to a college program.

A few days ago, Harbor shared his 2022 season highlight reel on Hudl:

A legitimte five-star athlete, Harbor (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) is a unique weapon who can fill up a stat sheet and make splash plays in all three phases. Putting in snaps on the edge, at wide receiver and kick returner, he finished the year with five touchdown catches, 23 pancake blocks, 44 return yards, 16.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks.

As for what comes next, it sounds like a decision may be coming soon. Harbor has told On3 that he’s close to a decision.

He has offers from 46 different schools. The top contenders to get him include South Carolina, Michigan, Maryland, LSU, Miami and USC. Both Rivals and 247 Sports are predicting he’ll go to South Carolina, while on3’s model is projecting it’ll be Michigan.

Needless to say, Harbor can help a lot of teams in a lot of different ways.

In football, the best ability is availability, making Nyckoles Harbor one of the hottest remaining five-star recruits in the class of 2023.

Harbor (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) plays EDGE plus a few other positions for Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.). Last season he caught 16 passes and scored five touchdowns on offense. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, he totaled 17 sacks, 66 hurries and 31 tackles for a loss. For good measure, he blocked two punts and recovered two fumbles for touchdowns.

Needless to say, Harbor can help a lot of teams in a lot of different ways.

Next on the list for Harbor is a visit to Michigan, one of 46 schools that have made an offer. The Wolverines are getting a recruiting assist from Harbor’s sister Ziyah Holman, who’s a track and field star for the school.

This past weekend he visited South Carolina, getting a front-row seat for the Gamecocks’ 48-7 shellacking at the hands of Georgia, another school that’s made an offer.

On Saturday afternoon Harbor will watch Michigan play host to Maryland – also on his list. Harbor also has heavy interest from USC, Miami and LSU.

For now, South Carolina is the favorite to get his commitment.
