Two Vols compete in an Appalachian League doubleheader.

Two Tennessee players competed in an Appalachian League doubleheader Wednesday following its all-star break.

The Kingsport Axmen defeated Johnson City, 15-2 in game No. 1, and, 11-4, in game No. 2.

Tennessee outfielder Kyle Booker started both games for the Axmen. He went 1-for-4 and scored one run in game No. 1.

Booker went 2-for-3, recording two runs in game No. 2.

Ethan Payne went 0-for-1 in game No. 1 for Johnson City.

He has recorded a .171 batting average while playing for the Doughboys. Payne started game No. 2 at third base and went 0-for-3.

Tennessee’s Kyle Booker starts in left field and records one hit for Kingsport.

Tennessee sophomore Kyle Booker is playing for the Kingsport Axmen in the Appalachian League.

Booker went 1-for-3 for the Axmen Sunday. He recorded a single in Kingsport’s 4-2 win against the Bristol State Liners.

Booker, a native of Southaven, Mississippi, has appeared in six games for Kingsport. He is batting .389, while recording seven hits, two doubles, six runs, five walks and five RBIs.

Booker appeared in 29 games, starting six contests, for Tennessee in 2022. He recorded a .222 batting average, totaling 10 RBIs, 12 runs, 10 hits, three doubles and one home run.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound booker has appeared in 56 games during his Tennessee career.
