The OKC Blue dominated the G League opener. Antonius Cleveland scored 25, Moses Brown had 17 rebounds and Aleksej Pokusevski scored nine.

The Oklahoma City Blue, G League affiliate of the Thunder, dominated in their first game of the bubble tournament on Thursday.

The Blue took down the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz’s affiliate, 118-84.

Small forward Antonius Cleveland scored the first 10 points of the game and finished with 25, the most for either team. He was excellent all-around, also grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing five assists.

Cleveland has 28 games of NBA experience. He appeared in 13 for the Dallas Mavericks in 2017-18 before getting injured and being waived. He was signed by the Atlanta Hawks, where he appeared in four games that same season.

He wouldn’t step on the NBA floor again until 2019-20, when he returned to the Mavericks and appeared in 11 games.

Guard Chasson Randle, who has 78 games of NBA experience, scored 18 points in 20 minutes.

Wing Rob Edwards, who was a college teammate of Thunder wing Lu Dort, scored 21 points and made four 3s.

This was the first look at some of the Thunder’s players in the G League.

Center Moses Brown thoroughly dominated as he recorded 15 points and 17 rebounds, six of them offensive, over 28 minutes of play.

Power forward Aleksej Pokusevski had five points, nine rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes. He shot 2-for-10 from the field and made a 3, and did not attempt a free throw.

Guard Ty Jerome also made his first appearance of the season. Acquired from the Phoenix Suns in the Chris Paul trade, he did not appear in a single Thunder game due to a left ankle sprain.

He had four points, two assists and a rebound in eight minutes of play on Thursday.

The Blue’s next game will be played Friday against G League Ignite. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central Time and can be viewed on ESPNU.

Report: Thunder sign Melvin Frazier Jr., waive Antonius Cleveland

The Thunder have reportedly signed Melvin Frazier Jr. and waived Antonius Cleveland with the intention of adding Cleveland to the G League roster.

The Oklahoma City Thunder made another move near the bottom of the roster, according to Yahoo’s Keith Smith.

Smith reported the Thunder signed Melvin Frazier Jr. and waived Antonius Cleveland.

Cleveland’s signing was first reported by Smith on Wednesday. On Thursday, Smith reported he had been waived to make room for Frazier.

The quick turnaround with his signing and waiving was to acquire his rights for a G League roster spot, according to Smith. Cleveland, 26, has played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks since going undrafted in 2017. He has appeared in 28 NBA games between the two teams.

Frazier, 24, was a second-round pick by the Orlando Magic in 2018. The shooting guard appeared in 29 NBA games for the team over the last two seasons, averaging about two points on 40% shooting in six minutes per game.

Over 23 games in the G League last season, Frazier averaged 18.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 steals in 37 minutes per game. He shot 50.6% from the field and 32% from deep.

The year before, he shot 45.4% from the field and 38.5% from deep in the G League.

Report: Thunder sign former Mavs, Hawks guard Antonius Cleveland

The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly agreed to sign Antonius Cleveland, who has played for the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks.

Just hours after waiving Zylan Cheatham, the Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly signed a new player.

The Thunder agreed to a deal with shooting guard Antonius Cleveland, Yahoo’s Keith Smith reported Wednesday night.

Cleveland, 26, has played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks since going undrafted in 2017.

During the 2017-18 season, he appeared in 13 games for the Mavericks and four for the Hawks. He averaged 7.2 minutes and 1.4 points per game that season.

He rejoined Dallas last season, averaging one point in 4.2 minutes per game over 11 appearances.

Cleveland spent the vast majority of the last two seasons in the G League. In 2018-19, he played 42 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he averaged 11.2 points, five rebounds and two assists and shot 36% from 3.

In 2019-20, he played for the Texas Legends. In 36 games he averaged 14.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 49.6% from the field and 30.3% from deep.

Listed at 6-foot-5, Cleveland offers another option at the guard position. He takes a roster spot of Josh Gray or Zylan Cheatham, both of whom were acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in the Steven Adams trade but waived this week.
