UFC on ESPN 62 results: Tabatha Ricci earns judges’ nod over Angela Hill in close affair

It was close, but Tabatha Ricci edged out Angela Hill in the UFC on ESPN 62 co-main event.

In the UFC on ESPN 62 co-main event, Ricci (11-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) defeated [autotag]Angel Hill[/autotag] (17-14 MMA, 12-14 UFC) by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

The women’s strawweight bout took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The closely-contested fight needed all 15 minutes to determine a winner. Both women had their moments, but Ricci’s clinch posed problems for Hill early. Hill tried to keep the fight at distance and strike, but Ricci was successful in getting inside.

Ricci scored multiple takedowns in Round 2 but was unable to much of anything significant with them. The volume was high as both women landed punches. In Round 3, the frenetic pace continued. Ricci appeared to slightly edge Hill in the exchanges. She went on to sweep the judges and win the fight.

With the win, Ricci has won two in a row, and six of her most recent seven outings. Her only two career losses have come in the UFC against Manon Fiorot and Loopy Godinez.

One of the longest-tenured women on the roster, Hill has a two-fight winning streak snapped. She drops to 4-2 in her most recent six.
