Jimmy Kimmel got in a last-second Oscars dig at Matt Damon featuring Messi the dog

Did we really think Jimmy Kimmel would go the whole Oscars without making fun of Matt Damon?

We really didn’t think Jimmy Kimmel would go the entire Academy Awards without getting in a dig at Matt Damon, did we?

Right as the show was ending, it looked like Kimmel wouldn’t keep his ongoing fake feud with Damon alive in his fourth Oscar hosting stint.

In the amended words of Lee Corso, not so fast, my frenemy!

A brief gag closed the show right before the credits of Messi the dog from Anatomy of a Fall pretending to hoist his leg up to pee on Damon’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as Kimmel got in his annual roast.

Like, c’mon, that’s easily Kimmel’s best joke of the night!

Messi was one of the stars of the evening, and we’re so glad he got to play a part in helping Kimmel make fun of Damon to keep the tradition alive.

Now, Damon must retaliate with a Messi the dog gag of his own. It’s only what’s right.

Messi the perfect dog made it to the Oscars and is seated like the good boy he is

The absolute best boy thankfully made it to the Oscars.

For two long, long days, it seemed that the public would be deprived of the biggest star of the Oscars at Sunday’s 96th Academy Awards. Reports broke on March 8 that Messi the dog, better known as Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall, would not be allowed to attend after complaints from other studios.

Messi was not only instrumental in the actual plot of Anatomy of a Fall, he perfectly acted in several scenes.

At the Oscar luncheon, stars like Emma Stone were elated to meet the furry supporting actor, so it’s fantastic news that he is, in fact, seated for the Oscars ceremony.

No, literally, the perfect good boy is actually seated.

The absolute best boy.

Why Messi the dog will reportedly miss the 2024 Oscars after Anatomy of a Fall stardom

THE WORST NEWS

The biggest star of film won’t be at the 2024 Oscars this year.

I’m talking, of course, about Messi, the border collie who stole the show in Anatomy of a Fall. He took over the Oscars luncheon earlier this year in February, but per a report, he’s not going to make it to Sunday’s Academy Awards.

From the Hollywood Reporter: “Though reps for the Academy did not comment, a source at the Neon-distributed film says the French pup’s recent Hollywood sojourn, during which he overshadowed every human actor at the annual nominees luncheon, was a one-off. That means those A-Listers who didn’t get face time with Messi will just have to book a part in one of his future projects.”

UGH.

Messi the dog from Anatomy of a Fall took over the 2024 Oscar nominees luncheon

Messi the dog took over the 2024 Oscar nominees luncheon.

Monday’s 2024 Oscar nominees luncheon gathered together some of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but none of them eclipsed Messi the dog.

The border collie breakout star of Best Picture nominee Anatomy of a Fall showed up to support his movie being nominated for numerous Oscars, and the young pup was the talk of the town as he arrived for the luncheon.

Messi’s performance in Anatomy of a Fall is genuinely one of the most impressive aspects of an already stellar movie, as the good pup’s portrayal of Snoop pretty much rivals any animal performance ever committed to film. He’s that good.

Messi’s day at the Oscar luncheon looked quite eventful, and we’ve got the best highlights from this very good boy’s special afternoon below.
