Ducks at Oilers projected goalies

Anthony Stolarz (7-5-1, 2.73 GAA, .919 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Mike Smith (4-4-1, 3.34 GAA, .904 SV%)

Stolarz came on in the second period last night in place of Gibson after he allowed 4 goals in 28 minutes. Stolarz allowed just 1 goal on 22 shots in his relief appearance.

Smith has won consecutive starts against the New York Islanders and at the Los Angeles Kings as he allowed just 3 totals goals on 70 shots. He has given the Oilers some much-needed solid goaltending.

Ducks at Oilers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Ducks 3

Money line

The Oilers (-230) will cost you more than two times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive even if they have been playing a lot better recently.

PASS.

Against the spread

The OILERS -1.5 (+110) are a much better value at plus-money laying the goal and a half on the puck line. Edmonton has won by 2 or more goals in each of its wins during the current three-game streak, and each of its five victories dating back to Jan. 29.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-115) is the best bet in this Western Conference battle. The Over hasn’t been a regular occurrence lately for the Oil, but Edmonton has scored 3 or more goals in each of its last three outings, and in eight of its last 11 games.

The Over hit in a 6-5 Oilers win Oct. 19 in the first meeting between these sides, too.
