Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk releases statement calling for equality

Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk is calling for equality in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk has released a statement calling for equality after the death of George Floyd while in police custody.

Adams Strunk is just the latest member of the Titans to call for racial equality. Here’s her statement:

“I want to add my voice and the voice of our organization to the calls for equality and reiterate our firm stance against all forms of racism.

“Hearts, minds and institutions need to change throughout our country. Those who face racism need to be heard, and more importantly, understood by those who haven’t listened before.

“Our organization and our players have dedicated time and resources to these issues through the ‘We Stand For’ campaign and we are making a difference in our own community, tackling issues like educational equity, judicial reform, policing policies and assistance for underserved areas. We are proud to support those efforts and we will continue to find ways to impact our region. As part of this, we are providing information to our fans through a resource guide (https://www.tennesseetitans.com/community/we-stand-for/resource-center) so others can join us in these steps to progress.

“Hearing our players and coaches speak over the last two weeks have been constructive to this vital discussion. I support our players using peaceful protests and their platforms to advance us as a nation. I would encourage those who haven’t thought about these issues before to understand the pain, anger and frustration of the black community. Black lives matter. We should all agree on that.”

The Titans also released this video on social media.

Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk releases statement on death of Ed Biles

The Titans’ controlling owner honored Biles in a statement.

Former Houston Oilers head coach Ed Biles died at age 88 on Sunday after a long battle with leukemia.

Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk released this statement to honor the memory of Biles, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

“We are saddened to hear the news today that Ed Biles has passed away. In a decade of service to our franchise, which included time as head coach and defensive coordinator, he made significant contributions. His ‘Luv Ya Blue’ defenses were a key component in two AFC Championship game appearances. His energy and love of the game will be remembered. Our Oilers/Titans family sends condolences to his family.”

Biles was the Oilers’ head coach for two-plus seasons, from 1981-1983.

Before that, he served as Bum Phillips’ defensive coordinator and coached one of the best defenses in the NFL as the Oilers made back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in 1978 and 1979.

After Biles’ coaching career was over, he became a mainstay at Houston charity events over the years, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Titans expanding Saint Thomas Sports Park

PBG Builders is the company contracted to do the job, in collaboration with Smallwood Nickle Architects.

The Tennessee Titans open construction beginning next week to expand Saint Thomas Sports Park, which will “almost double its current footprint in Nashville’s MetroCenter neighborhood.”

PBG Builders is the company contracted to do the job, in collaboration with Smallwood Nickle Architects.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and her staff toured multiple NFL facilities to make sure Tennessee’s facilities were on track with or exceeding the standards of the league.

The current 75,000-square-foot building will undergo renovations, and there will also be a new building near the practice field as a part of 60,000-square-feet add-ons.

There will also be a 2,300-square-foot rooftop deck as a part of a new event space and a two-story, 39,000-square-foot parking garage with more than 100 extra parking spaces.

“We’ve added so many members to the Titans family over the past several years,” Adams Strunk said in a Titans Online report. “Evolving our workplace makes perfect sense from both a growth standpoint as well as maximizing our team’s overall effectiveness. This new facility will ultimately create the modern environment that will enable further success.”

With the expansion, the Titans’ growing staff will all be able to work in one space.
