The Montreal Alouettes (8-1) and Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3-1) meet at Mosaic Stadium Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Alouettes vs. Roughriders odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Alouettes are coming off a cover as 7-point favorites in a 33-23 win over the visiting Hamilton Tiger-Cats Saturday with the Over (49.5) cashing. QB Davis Alexander was 17-of-24 passing for 247 yards and 2 TDs. Alexander will get the nod once again Friday; however, QB Cody Fajardo (hamstring) will dress for the 1st time in a month to serve as the backup.

The Roughriders covered as 3-point road underdogs in a 22-22 tie with the Ottawa Redblacks Aug. 8 as the Under (48.5) hit. While Saskatchewan is 0-2-1 straight up in its last 3 games, it will be much healthier Friday with QB Trevor Harris (MCL), RB AJ Ouellette (hip) and LB Jameer Thurman (elbow) returning.

In a July 25 meeting, Montreal covered as a 3.5-point home favorite in a 20-16 win over the Roughriders with the Under (47.5) hitting. Alexander came in at halftime — in relief of struggling QB Caleb Evans — and led the Alouettes in a 13-point comeback on 15-of-18 passing for 178 yards and 2 TDs. QB Shea Patterson (21 of 33, 222 yards) was the starter for Saskatchewan in place of the injured Harris.

Moneyline

The ROUGHRIDERS (+120) should be upgraded with the return of Harris, Ouellette and Thurman. Saskatchewan is rolling out practically the same lineup that started the season 3-0 straight up and ATS, while Montreal is starting a backup QB — who has played well but is due for some regression — and will be without an important target in Philpot (5 TDs in 2024).

BET ROUGHRIDERS (+120).

Against the spread

Roughriders +2.5 (-110) is an okay wager for the ultra-conservative bettor, but the ML at plus odds is the more attractive play.

PASS. Bet the ML and/or total instead.

Over/Under

Harris had the Roughriders start the year 3-0 to the Over. While he is coming off an MCL injury, his return combined with Ouellette back in the lineup should reinvigorate Saskatchewan’s offense, making it look much more like the team that was averaging 32.7 points in the 1st 3 games of the season.
