Video: UFC champ Alex Pereira’s sister Aline scores vicious knockout at Karate Combat 50

Knockouts just seem to run in the family. Aline Pereira looked eerily like her brother Alex in his highlight reel KO at Karate Combat 50.

Devastating knockouts from left hooks appear to be the Pereira family signature.

UFC light heavyweight champion [autotag]Alex Pereira[/autotag] was pit-side in Salt Lake City at Karate Combat 50 to watch his sister, [autotag]Aline Pereria[/autotag], take on Dee Begley.

Unfortunately for Begley, who weighed nine pounds more than the originally agreed-upon weight, would fall victim to a signature Pereira combo.

Aline fired a right hand followed by a left hook sending Begley crashing to the canvas. Aline rushed in and rained down follow-up punches until the referee stopped the action with about 35 seconds remaining in the first round.

The celebration was on, and Aline ran over to embrace Alex while Begley poured blood from her nose.

During her post-fight interview, Pereira acknowledged she learned the combo from her brother. She also admitted there was frustration with Begley for missing weight, and was critical of her professionalism.

Aline, who has a kickboxing background like her brother Alex, stepped into the Karate Combat pit for the first time and created a highlight reel moment. As an MMA fighter, Aline is 1-2, with her most recent fight taking place September 2023.

For now, Aline appears eager to return to Karate Combat to create more magic.

October has been good to the Pereira family, as Alex just recorded his third light heavyweight title defense last weekend by stopping Khalil Rountree in a Fight of the Night war at UFC 307.

Video: Alex Pereira’s sister sticks with Karate Combat fight after opponent 9 pounds over original weight

It’s the Pereira family instinct to fight no matter what Alex’s sister Aline displayed that again after her opponent badly missed weight.

The instinct to compete under unideal circumstances is apparently a family trait after [autotag]Aline Pereira[/autotag] agreed to push forward with Friday’s Karate Combat 50 fight despite some weigh-in antics from her opponent.

Pereira, who is the younger sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, will now fight [autotag]Dee Begley[/autotag] at a 134-pound catchweight after the bout was originally scheduled for 125 pounds.

Prior to official weigh-ins on Friday in Salt Lake City, which hosts the UFC Fight Pass-streamed event at Salt Palace Convention Center, Begley’s team requested the bout be shifted to a 130-pound catchweight. Pereira’s team agreed, but when Begley stepped on the scale, she registered four pounds over the catchweight limit.

Some drama unfolded in the weigh-in room, with Begley and her team engaging in a small argument with Pereira’s coach, Plinio Cruz.

Ultimately a decision was made for the fight to proceed, with Begley getting a 40 percent fine of her purse.

Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi said after the weigh-in session that Begley’s future with Karate Combat will be reassessed as a result.

“It’s not a professional thing to do,” Zaidi said. This can’t happen at Karate Combat. If we’re a professional league. If we’re trying to advertise ourselves as one of the greatest combat sports leagues in the sport, one of the greatest striking leagues in the world, we can’t accept people missing weight like this. I don’t know if we’re going to see Dee Begley come back. … This is a bit much.”

LFA signs Aline Pereira, sister of UFC 281 title challenger Alex Pereira

If she’s anything like her brother, Aline Pereira could prove a threat to a UFC title in the years to come.

Another Pereira has entered the LFA pipeline.

[autotag]Aline Pereira[/autotag], sister of the next UFC middleweight title challenger [autotag]Alex Pereira[/autotag], has signed a multifight deal with the promotion, LFA announced Wednesday.

Pereira, 31, has yet to compete in MMA, but like her older brother enters the sport with a kickboxing resume. Her debut bout is scheduled for Nov. 18 vs. “TUF 30” cast member [autotag]Helen Peralta[/autotag] (5-3) at LFA 147 in Sloan, Iowa. The bout will be contested at flyweight and streams on UFC Fight Pass.

From 2017-2021, Pereira competed eight times in professional kickboxing. She went 6-2, including a Glory super bantamweight championship title challenge loss against decorated striker Tiffany van Soest. Prior to her title shot, Pereira picked up Glory wins against Crystal Lawson and Chommanee Sor Taehiran.
