Badgers land transfer guard from St. John’s

Wisconsin got the commitment of St. John’s transfer guard AJ Storr on Thursday after he spent one season with the Red Storm. The 6-foot-6 athlete visited Madison this past weekend and quickly made the decision to join the Badgers.

Storr was the 97th ranked prospect in the class of 2022 and he will now provide Wisconsin with some much-needed size and shooting ability at the wing position. With Jordan Davis leaving, Storr will likely step right into a significant role in 2023-2024.

In his one campaign with St. John’s, Storr averaged 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from deep.

With Tyler Wahl returning for another season along with their entire starting lineup, the Badgers have now acquired two talented guards in AJ Storr and Noah Reynolds (Wyoming) in the transfer portal.

There’s no reason to think that Greg Gard and his Wisconsin squad won’t bounce back next season and once again challenge for a Big Ten title.

St. John’s transfer guard visits Madison

Former St. John’s guard AJ Storr visited UW-Madison on Monday after the team reached out to him on the transfer portal.

Former St. John’s guard AJ Storr visited UW-Madison this weekend after the team reached out to him on the transfer portal. The 6-foot-6 athlete averaged 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in his one season with the Red Storm.

With Storr visiting the Badgers, it proves that Greg Gard and his coaching staff are not done in the portal even after acquiring guard Noah Reynolds last week (Wyoming). As Jordan Davis looks for a new team following his entrance into the transfer portal, it’s clear that the Badgers are looking to find additional depth at the wing position.

Coming off of a rather disappointing season for Wisconsin, any additions out of the portal will at least pique the interest of fans heading into the offseason. On paper, the Badgers are expected to be one of the most experienced teams in the Big Ten in 2023.

Texas A&M interested in former St. John’s shooting guard AJ Storr

After entering the transfer portal, former St. John’s shooting guard AJ Storr has received interest from the Aggies for 2023 season

Texas A&M, like nearly every other Division 1 college basketball team is in the market when it comes to this year’s transfer portal, and don’t be shocked when you hear the actual number which is closing to almost 1,000 players (I’m not kidding).

For the Aggies, desperation is not in their vocabulary this offseason as four starters are expected to return including Wade Taylor IV, Henry Coleman III, Julius Marble, and even Tyrece Radford who would be using his COVID season, yet still, hasn’t made an official decision.

Key reserves such as Andersson Garcia, Solomon Washington, and Manny Obaseki are also expected to return, so where are the remaining holes on the roster? Perimeter shooting, while replacing the wing defense departing senior Dexter Dennis provided last season. Texas A&M was one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country last season, ranked 259th at 32.58% from deep, immediate improvement is needed.

Over the past week, head coach Buzz Williams and his staff have been hard at work in contacting a multitude of players in the portal, including former St. John’s guard AJ Storr, who’s coming off a 2022 freshman season averaging 8.8 points and shooting 43% from the field, and 40% from 3-point range. The Aggies are in competition with over 30 other programs, but after one of their most successful seasons under Williams in 2022, don’t be surprised if the interest is mutual.

Standing at 6-6 and 200 lbs, the former 4-star prospect and prestigious IMG Academy graduate has the makings of a nightly double-digit scoring threat, while his length and aggressive play fits very well in Williams’ defensive system. coming off a disappointing 18-15 season at St. John’s, the allure of A&M’s talented veteran roster should pay dividends toward landing players like AJ Storr, but in the chaotic world of NIL, results on the court aren’t the only thing contributing to decision-making.

Badgers in contact with St. John’s transfer

The Badgers and their coaching staff have been in contact with AJ Storr, a 6-foot-6 transfer guard from St. John’s.

The Badgers and their coaching staff have been in contact with AJ Storr, a 6-foot-6 transfer guard from St. John’s. Storr has entered the portal after averaging 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in his freshman season with the Red Storm.

Considering the fact that St. John’s just brought in Rick Pitino, it appears as if the veteran head coach is looking for a fresh start with the roster. Storr is just one of seven players who have entered the portal so far including guards Andre Curbelo and Posh Alexander.

With the newfound understanding that Jordan Davis will be leaving Wisconsin’s program, Storr could provide Greg Gard and his Badgers with some additional size at the wing position, something they sorely needed in 2022-2023.
