North Carolina unveils new Air Jordan XXIII “UNC” PE

The UNC football program unveiled an exclusive Air Jordan XXIII show in a Tar Heels inspired colorway that is available to players only.

Being an athlete at the University of North Carolina has its perks. Being a Jordan Brand school, athletes are often provided awesome gear from the brand including retro and brand-new Air Jordans.  They also get player exclusives and that happened again on Monday.

North Carolina’s football program unveiled a very special players-only edition of the Air Jordan XXIII “UNC” as it pays homage to Jordan’s Alma-mater.

And as expected, these shoes are pretty damn sweet. Check out the shoe with its Carolina Blue theme and details that resemble the Tar Heels throughout the design:

The silhouette is dominated in Carolina Blue while white and black accents are spotted throughout. As for the detailing, the Tar Heels mascot is blended in on the side while “Go Heels” is on the inner tongue.

The XXIII model was first released in 2008, designed by Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith, and came with a retail price tag of $185. It dropped in a black/varsity red-stealth colorway and then retroed again in 2015 with a university red and gum yellow colorway.

The shoe even has its own special box that says Air Jordan XXIII PE, signaling player exclusive and not available for the general public.

Good luck getting your hands on a pair of these and it’s a shame the slick design won’t release to the public.
