Final Staff Predictions for Texas A&M vs. No. 20 Oklahoma State in the TaxAct Texas Bowl

Here are the final staff predictions for the TaxAct Texas Bowl as Texas A&M faces No. 20 Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.

Texas A&M (7-5) will finish the 2023 college football season hopefully on a high note, set to face the No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Facing plenty of roster-based adversity, the Aggies will be without a large portion of the regular season depth chart, including a reported 55 scholarship players.

With the news that sophomore wide receiver Noah Thomas will miss the game for undisclosed reasons, the A&M will only have three scholarship wide receivers available, as Moose Muhammad III, Jahdae Walker, and freshman Micah Tease will start and finish the game with virtually no help.

Oklahoma State’s rushing attack, led by All-American running back Ollie Gordon III (1,614 rushing yards, 20 TDs), the Cowboys are looking to run down the Aggies’ throats due to the attrition on the defensive line from the transfer portal, but don’t count out freshman linebacker Taurean York to clean up the mess, and keep the opponent one dimensional.

Ahead of Texas A&M’s final game before new head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural 2024 season, here are our final staff predictions for Texas A&M’s TaxAct Texas Bowl vs. No. 20 Oklahoma State.

Cameron Ohnysty: Managing Editor:

“With the news that the Aggies will only have 55 scholarship players available for the game, one thought crept into my mind: This makes Mike Elko’s evaluation of the roster a whole lot easier. While quarterback Jaylen Henderson is slated to make his fourth start, it’s A&M’s now depleted defensive line facing Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon III that could be the games’ deciding factor

Needing to embody the spirit of the 12th Man, I have no idea this team under interim head coach Elijah Robinson will put everything they have into this final matchup, and if the Aggies’ can keep Gordon at bay for most of the night, Henderson and the offense will likely need to score at least 20 points to secure the victory.

Final score prediction: Texas A&M 24, Oklahoma State 20

Shaun Holkko: Staff Writer:

“Just like Mike Gundy, I honestly have no idea what to expect from Texas A&M tonight. The Aggies are underdogs heading into this matchup against a ranked team that competed for a conference title this season.

However, I’ve gotta sneaky suspicion that Texas A&M will be victorious in this rematch of the 2019 Texas Bowl, which the Aggies also won. In the last official game of the Jimbo Fisher era in College Station, Texas A&M defeats Oklahoma State 28-25 led by interim head coach Elijah Robinson before he departs for Syracuse.”

Final score prediction: Texas A&M 28, Oklahoma State 25

Jarrett Johnson: Staff Writer:

“I do not know how this game will go. However, I’m extremely intrigued to see several Aggies get extended playing time they did not receive during the regular season.

This will serve as a good showcase against a quality team so Elko can evaluate where he still has positions of need that he might not have considered a few weeks ago.

As far as the game goes, I think Jaylen Henderson goes off for 2 rushing touchdowns and 2 passing touchdowns because why not? However, I think the inexperience and shorthanded defense will make a few too many mistakes.”

Final score prediction: Oklahoma State 30, Texas A&M 28

Aggies Wire Staff Predictions ahead of Texas A&M vs. No. 14 LSU

Our Staff at Aggies Wire have predicted just how things may shake out during Texas A&M’s final games of the season vs. No. 14 LSU.

Texas A&M (7-4, 4-3 SEC) will finish the 2023 regular season on the road vs. the red-hot 14th-ranked LSU Tigers, as quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite Jayden Daniels has been on an absolute tear, accounting for 4,591 yards and 46 touchdowns.

After the firing of Jimbo Fisher, interim head coach Elijah Robinson is now 1-0 after the Aggies defeated Abilene Christian 38-10; as the search for Fisher’s successor continues to dominate the headlines, this team is focused on Saturday’s task at hand: Beating LSU two years in a row, and earning their first win in Baton Rouge (LA) since the 1994 season.

How will A&M’s defense fare against the Tigers’ high-flying offense? Pressure in the pocket and limiting big plays downfield is their only option to limit Daniels from having a career day. Offensively, this falls in the hands of sophomore signal caller Jaylen Henderson, who, in his third career start, must have his best outing yet, which is asking a lot.

Ahead of the matchup, we provided several storylines and five players to watch to help give the full scoop on what to expect on Saturday afternoon.

Here are our official prediction staff predictions for Texas A&M vs. No. 14 LSU.

Managing Editor, Cameron Ohnysty:

“Texas A&M’s football future will be Jimbo Fisher-less for the first time in six seasons, and until a permanent successor is named, interim head coach Elijah Robinson looks to take the Aggies into Baton Rouge, Louisiana, against the high-scoring No. 14 LSU Tigers while trying to limit superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels, which is a very, very tall task.

How will they do it? Pressuring Daniels in the pocket to start, but realistically, the Tigers will score, and the Aggies need to respond, as sophomore quarterback Jaylen Henderson will need to expose the Tigers’ porous secondary on nearly every possession because, more likely than not, this is going to be a high scoring affair.”

Prediction: LSU 35, Texas A&M 31

Staff Writer, Jarrett Johnson:

“At one point, I had the Aggies beating LSU by a slim margin. Well, times have changed, and so has my prediction. In contrast, the LSU defense is not a top unit, but the Aggies will still have their third-string QB starting just his third game of the season in Death Valley.

Normally, when you have one of the top defenses in the nation, they can help mask a few issues. However, the Tigers’ Heisman-contending QB Jayden Daniels and two 1,000-yard receivers, including Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., are leading the way….expect big plays and multiple pass inference calls.”

Prediction: LSU 42, Texas A&M 24

Texas A&M will take on 14th-ranked LSU on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. CT., and ESPN will carry the game.

Aggies Wire Staff Predictions ahead of Texas A&M vs. Abilene Christian

Our Staff at Aggies Wire have predicted just how things may shake out during Texas A&amp final home matchup vs. Abilene Christian.

Texas A&M (6-4, 4-3 SEC) has begun a new chapter in the football program after the recent firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher, as longtime assistant coach Elijah Robinson has taken over the interim role for the remaining three games, including the Aggies future bowl game.

This week, Texas A&M will face Abilene Christian (5–5) while honoring the senior football class, most notably including wide receiver Ainias Smith, safety Demani Richardson, and offensive lineman Layden Robinson, to name a few.

While Fisher’s dismissal has dominated the headlines, it was sophomore quarterback Jaylen Henderson’s four-touchdown performance in the first start of his collegiate career. At the same time, the Aggies’ defense notches five sacks and three interceptions in their 51-10 win over Mississippi State.

The Aggies should dominate this matchup from a personnel standpoint alone. Still, with Elijah Robinson now at the helm, this team has reportedly practiced well this week despite the shocking news and has adjusted well to Robinson’s coaching style.

Ahead of the matchup, we provided several storylines to help give the full scoop on what to expect on Saturday afternoon.

Here are our official prediction staff predictions for Texas A&M vs. Abilene Christian.

Managing Editor, Cameron Ohnysty:

“In the first game without Jimbo Fisher manning the sideline, a new era in Texas A&M Football will take shape, and in a game where the Aggies should dominate from start to finish over the undersized Abilene Christian Wildcats, quarterback Jaylen Henderson is poised to make his second consecutive start after scoring an impressive four touchdowns in his first collegiate start in last weekend’s 51-10 win over Mississippi State.

In the seniors last game at Kyle Field, I expect wide receiver Ainias Smith and safety Demani Richardson to make multiple splash plays on offense and defense, and yes, it’s finally second-year OC Bobby Petrino’s offense in every facet, so expect a much cleaner look similar to last weekend’s blowout.”

Final prediciton score: Texas A&M 55, ACU 7

Staff Writer, Jarrett Johnson:

“Whether Max Johnson plays or not the Aggies will win in lopsided fashion, and we’ll get our first look at the Bobby Petrino offense as the sole play caller for the Aggies. Last week we saw Fresno State transfer Jaylen Henderson go off on Mississippi State for multiple touchdowns in a blowout win and I’d bet we see more or that this week as they get ready for LSU.

The defense will look to increase their sack and tackle for loss numbers as they are already amongst the nation’s best. With an opponent, on paper, they should beat We need to see dominate 1st half so the starters can take break in the 2nd. I’ll go as far as to say Cooper will get to double digit sacks on the season during this game Saturday.

Coming off the firing of Jimbo Fisher surely caused discomfort but if any week to fire Jimbo this was the one to do it. ACU is a very beatable opponent and will bear the brunt of the Aggies frustration in which I believe will be a record setting day across the board.”

Final score prediciton: Texas A&M 63, ACU 16

In his first game as interim head coach, Robinson will lead Texas A&M against the visiting Abilene Christian Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 11:00 a.m., where the game will air on SEC+.
