2026 INF/OF Taylor Hampton has committed to Texas A&M softball

Texas A&M softball picks commitment from power hitter out of Gilbert, AZ

Texas A&M head softball coach Trisha Ford is getting a jump start on the 2026 class after landing a big bat out of Arizona. On Sunday afternoon, power hitter Taylor Hampton, out of Gilbert, AZ, announced via social media that she will be taking her long ball to Bryan, College Station.

Hampton put her power on display during the PGF 16U Premier Nationals with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs. During that time, she also batted .459 hitting an impressive .989 SLG en route to a third-place finish with her team, the Arizona Storm.

With Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC offense is needed more than ever in the conference. Adding Hampton to the 26′ class gives Coach Ford some flexibility in the portal next season once she loses some important bats due to graduation. Until then we wish Hampton a productive high school career.

Texas A&M softball lands experienced catcher Oliva Johnson out of the portal

Trisha Ford hops in the portal and pulls out an experienced catcher from Washington

After getting Texas A&M ace pitcher Emiley Kenndey some help head softball coach Trisha Ford was able to pull former Washington Huskies catcher, Oliva “Ojo” Johnson, out of the transfer portal. The senior will give Coach Ford some senior leadership behind the plate and more options in the batter’s box.

Ford explains why she was excited to land Johnson for the 2025 softball season.

“Ojo is a great addition to our program, and we are happy to have her return to the Lone Star state. We needed to add an experienced catcher from the portal, Ojo has that experience collegiately and internationally. We are excited about her tools defensively and that she can add power to the lineup.”

Aggie junior Emiley Kennedy earned All-American honors for the strong performance during the 2024 season

Texas A&M can proudly claim to be the home of one of the nation’s top pitchers. This was confirmed by the softball world’s most respected voices, who bestowed Emiley Kennedy with the prestigious honor of being named an All-American for her outstanding 2024 campaign.

Coach Trisha Ford calls her “Lefty.” She routinely can hit 70 on the radar. Her ace was called upon throughout the year to come intions to get the Aggies out of aes pick up a loss she probably really didn’t earn. Kennedy was asked at the beginning of the season what she wanted to accomplish, and being named difficult situa jam and sometim an All-American was one on that list. Everything Coach Trisha Ford, Cannon, and Wiggins had to say after the Austin Super Regional

The Texas A&M softball team’s season has come to an end after a very impressive 2024 campaign. After a hard-fought weekend, the Texas Longhorns outlasted the Aggies in Game Three of the Austin Super Regional beating them 6-5. Nothing about those three games made A&M look like a No. 16 seed outside of the powers that be wanting an Aggies versus Longhorn matchup.

Even, with that underseeding each game was decided one run and went down to the absolute wire. A&M did have a few chances in Game Two to put the game away but just missed out and Texas is the number-one team in the nation for a reason. However, you can only ask your team to play their hardest and leave it all on the field, and that’s what her team did.

Texas A&M’s season comes to an end after losing Game three 6-5 to Texas

Texas A&M battled the end but came up just short losing 5-6 to Texas in the Austin Super Regional ending their 2024 season

In what will go down as one of the most nerve-wracking Super Regionals this season, No. 16 seed Texas A&M could not complete the upset of No. 1 seed Texas at the Austin Super Regional. The Aggies gave the No. 1 team in the country all they could handle for three straight days but ultimately lost in three games, 6-5, ending their season.

Like the previous two games, the A&M was the first to get on the board when senior Trinity Cannon continued her RBI streak when she hit a double to score Koko Wooley for an early 1-0. The Longhorns didn’t wait as long to strike back, this time, putting up two in the bottom of the third off a wild pitch and double off the bat of Viviana Martinez. They extended their lead with a solo home run by Mia Scott for a score of 3-1 before the Aggies would get back on the board.

Jazmine Hill was able to bring Cannon home on a fielder-choice single, but the A&M would leave a few stranded. The Longhorns have been doing most of their damage in the sixth inning during this series, and game three was no different. A throwing error allowed one score and hits by Scott and Martinez brought home another two runs, pushing the lead to 6-2 with one inning left.

Then, in true Aggie fashion, they did not go down without a fight. With two on base and one out, Julia Cottrill, in what was her last college at-bat, hit a three-run home run to bring the Aggies within one score.

However, it wasn’t meant to be, as the Aggies struck out looking, stranding two on base, ending a very entertaining season for Coach Trisha Ford and her team.

Now, this is not the ending A&M wanted, but they have a lot to be proud of, considering most preseason rankings didn’t have them making it this far. Join us in congratulating the Texas A&M softball team on an impressive year two under Coach Ford.

Texas A&M softball land six on the NFCA All-South Region team

The Aggie softball sees six players make the NFCA All-South Region teams

For the first time since 2018, the Texas A&M softball team is headed to a Super Regional where they will face old and future rival Texas in Austin. The Aggies went 3-0 in the Bryan-College Station Regional, beating UAlbany and Texas State twice to move on.

The NFCA announced their All-South region team and earned honors on the first and second teams. Below are your players and what team they made

FIRST TEAM:

  • Emiley Kenndey – Pitcher
  • Koko Wooley – Short Stop
  • Allie Enright – Outfield
  • Jazmine Hill – Outfield
  • Trinity Cannon – Designated Player

SECOND TEAM:

  • Julia Cottrill – Catcher

This is the largest number of first-teamers since 1987 and the most total selections since 2017. Please join us in congratulating these ladies on their recognition and wishing them luck in the Super Regionals.

Texas A&M softball defeats Texas State in the Regional Finals to advance

The Aggie hit their way to an 8-0 victory over Texas State to move on the Austin Super Regional

After a tough defensive contest in the first game, Texas A&M (43-13) beat Texas State (47-14) for the second time in this regional in impressive fashion 8-0 to advance to the Super Regionals in Austin.

The Aggie offense woke up on Sunday recording 12 hits, a stark difference from the two recorded in game one. It started the same as game one, with the Aggies scoring a single run off a sacrifice fly, allowing Koko Wooley to cross home plate.

However, unlike the first game, in the first inning, A&M found its timing against the Bobcats’ pitching, with both Rylen Wiggins and Kennedy Powell hitting home runs to go up 4-0 early.

In the bottom of the inning, the Aggies continued their offensive onslaught with five hits. Ayana Coleman, Powell, and Wooley all notched RBIs, leading to a four-run inning and extending the Aggies’ lead to 8. However, one thing that remained consistent was the stellar performance of the Aggies’ pitching, led by Emiley Kennedy, and their solid defense. Kennedy, backed by her All-SEC defense, allowed only one hit, leading the resounding 8-0 victory.

Texas A&M softball defeats Texas State to move into the Regional Finals

Texas A&M wins a pitching battle to advance to the Regional Finals

Saturday’s game was the definition of a pitcher’s battle with Texas A&M (42-13) beating Texas State (46-14) in a 1-0 victory in a game that only produced a total of six hits.

Aggies’ Emiley Kennedy and Bobcats’ Jessica Mullins went blow for blow with both pitching complete games. The game was full of defensive highlights and tense moments with inning after inning of three-up three-down. The only score in the came from a sacrifice fly hit by senior Trinity Cannon in the bottom of the first inning allowing Kennedy Powell to tag up and run home from third.

Other than the bottom of the third when the Bobcats walked two batters there were zero scoring threats from either team the rest of the game and A&M held on to their one-run lead to advance to the Regional Finals on Sunday.

Texas A&M softball will host a regional after earning the No. 16 seed

The Texas A&M Aggies have hit their first goal of the post season which was to host a regional at Davis Diamond

There was no question that the Texas A&M (40-13, 15-9) softball team would make the field of 64 and there was little doubt that they would not host a regional. Well, now that the brackets have been released, it’s been confirmed that the Aggies will indeed get a few postseason home games as a 16 seed. Now that’s where the head-scratching comes in once you see that teams that are seeded above the Aggies.

A&M is third in the SEC, has a better overall record conference record, last 10, an SEC Tournament win, and is second in the conference in team batting. With all of that noted Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama are all seeded higher than the Aggies. To add insult to injury A&M has a series win over Alabama this season. However, if you ask Coach Trisha Ford, they are right where they want to be at this time in the season… Hosting a regional in front of the 12th man at Davis Diamond.

The College Station regional consists of the following teams:

  1. Texas A&M
  2. Texas State
  3. Penn St.
  4. UAlbany

The winner of the College Station regional will face the winner of the Austin regional being hosted by Texas.

The games will start on May 17 with Texas St. against Penn St. and the Aggies will take on UAlbany in game two in the same day on ESPN + at 5:30 pm CST.

A pair of Texas A&M softball players make the SEC All-Tournament Team

The Texas A&M Aggies had Powell and Wooley make the SEC All-Tournament Team

Texas A&M softball has a gritty team that is being molded in the image of Head Coach Trisha Ford. Even though the SEC tournament didn’t turn out how they wanted the Aggies fought hard and showed that they can compete with the best the country has to offer. They lost in the Semifinals to the eventual SEC Champion Florida in a 7-3 game that the Gators pulled away late

With the conference tournament concluded the All-Tournament teams have been named. A&M saw the duo of Kennedy Powell who holds down the “hot” corner at third base and speedster Koko Wooley who plays shortstop. Below are their stat lines for the two games played in the tournament
