The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) failed to secure their first win at home this season in a 29-23 overtime loss against the Los Angeles Rams (2-2) in Week 4.

After holding the top spot in the division entering Week 4, the Colts were the only team in the AFC South to fall into the loss column. This means we have a four-way tie in the division.

We are now one-third of the way through the 2022 season, and the AFC South division appears to be shaping into a two-team race.

Though it took a while to get to this point, the two teams at the top of the division are the ones that were expected to be there when the season started. It wasn’t always pretty, but the division is forming into how we thought it would coming into the campaign.

Through the first five weeks of the 2022 season, the race in the AFC South is still neck and neck.

Despite the slow starts for the majority of the division, the difference between the first place team and the last place team is just 1.5 games in the standings.

The entire division as a whole was 3-1 during the Week 5 games, but it would have been impossible to go undefeated because there was an interdivisional matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts (0-1-1) are still winless after the first two weeks of the season and now will host one of the best teams in the NFL at Lucas Oil Stadium for their home opener in Week 3.

Even with the poor start to the season, the division is still up for grabs. Having tied and lost the first two divisional games, respectively, to begin the season is never ideal, but there is still time to turn the ship around.
