Jamie Hayter is in no one’s shadow any more.

While she remains aligned with Dr. Britt Baker, not exactly a fan favorite most of the time, Hayter has seen her own stock rise in AEW while the number of fans who cheer for her seem to increase week by week. At AEW Full Gear, Hayter took the next big step forward in her career, defeating former roommate Toni Storm to win the Interim AEW Women’s Championship.

Is it time to give the Devil his due? MJF did what he said he would do, going to AEW Full Gear in Newark and dethroning Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship — though he didn’t do it without some assistance, then made fun of all of us for believing he’d do otherwise.

MJF mocks fans, media after winning AEW World Championship at Full Gear

“You morons bit on every single word I had to say these past couple of months, huh?”

Tony Khan and a number of AEW wrestlers from the Full Gear card spoke with the media after the event in Newark on Saturday night. MJF? Not so much.

Not that the new AEW World Champion, who hadn’t even showered yet after dethroning Jon Moxley in the night’s main event, didn’t drop in. He was actually the first person other than Khan to arrive at the podium. He just wasn’t there to answer any questions, but rather to ridicule anyone who thought he might have actually turned face during his ascent to the top of the company.

“Goddamn you people are f–king dumb, man, no offense,” MJF said. “You had sympathy for the Devil? What are you f–king stupid? You morons bit on every single word I had to say these past couple of months, huh? ‘I want to earn it.’ F–k that. I deserve it, because I’m the best wrestler in the f–king world.”

He didn’t stop there. Referring to the actions of William Regal, who turned on Moxley by slipping brass knux to MJF that helped him in the closing sequence of the match, MJF

“‘MJF, what’s going on with you and Regal? You know we’re all really interested. How’d that link-up start?’ You think I’m going to dell you dumb motherf–ers? … No if you want to know anything about the most important man in professional wrestling, you gotta tune in to the MJF show. That’s every Wednesday on TBS, and you damn well, that is now destination TV.”

You can watch his entire non-interview below thanks to Denise Salcedo.

The Regal situation will surely be of interest to not just Moxley but the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club, so some answers to that part of the puzzle might be forthcoming whether MJF likes it or not.

For everything else, his goodbye message was pretty clear: “Thank you, f–k you, bye.”

Ricky Starks injury forces AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament final off Full Gear

Ethan Page will have to wait until next week’s Dynamite to get his chance at an AEW world title shot.

Injuries happen in pro wrestling, and AEW is no stranger to rearranging plans because of them. The AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament that is currently underway has already been shaken up a little due to an injury to Ricky Starks, and his ailment has forced the entire tourney timeline to be reshuffled a bit.

Most notably, the tournament final will no longer take place at AEW Full Gear this Saturday. AEW head Tony Khan confirmed that during his pre-event conference call on Thursday afternoon.

“We could not clear Ricky to wrestle last week, so that set that tournament schedule behind.” Khan said. “So I think what is going to happen is, of course, on Rampage, Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer, and the winner of Archer vs. Starks will wrestle on the Zero Hour [pre-show] against Brian Cage.

“And then the winner of that match on the Zero Hour will then go on to Wednesday night Dynamite in Chicago … and is going to be the finals there, with Ethan Page wrestling the winner of the match on the Zero Hour.”

Page advanced to the final Wednesday night on Dynamite, defeating Bandido. The other side of the bracket has yet to even reach the semifinal stage since Starks and Archer have yet to have their first-round match.

Even without the tournament final, AEW Full Gear is set to have 10 matches on its main card, headlined by an AEW World Championship match between champion Jon Moxley and challenger MJF. If the tournament semifinal between Cage and the Starks-Archer winner is confirmed for Zero Hour, Khan suggested during the conference call it won’t start right at 7:00 p.m. when the pre-show goes live.

The Full Gear main card will get underway at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT this Saturday, Nov. 19 from the Prudential Center in Newark.

The Elite undeleted: Kenny Omega, Young Bucks to return at Full Gear

Will The Elite win their trios belts right back?

One of the most heavily rumored returns in recent memory is now official: The Elite are back in action come Saturday.

Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks have been suspended since the brawl with CM Punk and Ace Steele that followed the infamous post-All Out press conference … though AEW never officially said so. The three EVPs have been reported to have been backstage in recent weeks, however, and a series of vignettes that showed them deleted from AEW history hinted at a return.

Since they were stripped of the AEW World Trios Championship when they were suspended, a match for those titles always made sense for The Elite, and that’s exactly what played out on the Nov. 16 episode of AEW Dynamite.

After the current champions, Death Triangle, defeated Top Flight and AR Fox (making his AEW Dynamite debut), Pac took the microphone to address the “rumors” about “certain individuals in this company who think they can make their triumphant return this Saturday.” Following his assertion that Death Triangle runs from no one, a graphic on the big screen showed The Elite fading back in as their opponents at Full Gear.

The AEW World Trios Championship match is the 10th confirmed bout for Full Gear, which takes place this Saturday, Nov, 16 from the Prudential Center in Newark.

AEW Full Gear preview: When and where it’s going down, what to expect

Get set for AEW Full Gear with our complete preview, including the start time, full card and predictions for every match

Because AEW only has four pay-per-views a year, there’s always a chance that things will change up a bit around the promotion between each one. But to say that some stuff has gone down since All Out in early September would be a wild understatement.

CM Punk, who won the AEW World Championship that night, is gone, perhaps forever. None of the company’s founding EVPs have been around either, following the most surreal post-event press conference in pro wrestling history.

There have been other absences too, including that of the House of Black (though they appear to be on their way back soon). And there have been notable arrivals, none bigger than that of Saraya, formerly Paige during her WWE days.

Some indicators of lagging interest in AEW, including TV ratings and live event attendance, could be related to all the upheaval. Hitting a home run with Full Gear would certainly help, and fortunately, there’s a much anticipated main event to bat cleanup. Jon Moxley has been the heart and soul of the company just as his promos declare, and MJF is quite simply one of the best all-around young talents in the business (as he’s also fond of pointing out).

Their showdown anchors another very full PPV card that includes four other title matches, a tournament final that will determine either Moxley or MJF’s first challenger, Saraya’s in-ring debut, and a classic grudge match inside a steel cage. Given Tony Khan’s penchant for adding matches during event week, there could still be more in store as well.

Whether it’s a true reset and turning of the page or simply a fun night of pro wrestling, Full Gear definitely has the potential to deliver.

Breaking down the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament bracket

We’re ready to tear up our bracket after Dynamite just like we often do after the first day of March Madness if we’ve got this wrong.

World championship eliminator matches, where a challenger has to beat the champ to get a shot at the champ’s title, aren’t cool. You know what is cool, though? Tournaments for a world championship opportunity, which is exactly what is kicking off this week with the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.

The format couldn’t be simpler. It’s eight men vying for a chance to take on the AEW World Champion — which could be current holder Jon Moxley or MJF by then —at Winter is Coming in December. The first round matches are this week, one on Dynamite and three on Rampage, with the semifinals following next week ahead of the final, which will be part of the Full Gear card on Saturday, Nov 19.

None of the eight competitors have held the AEW World Championship, though several have had previous title shots. There are some of the usual suspects but some refreshing new faces as well.

Let’s break down the bracket ahead of the first round and see where we land.

First round: Eddie Kingston vs. Ethan Page

Eddie Kingston has a history with Moxley as both friend and foe, and another championship opportunity for him would likely be received warmly by AEW fans. Yet it feels like Ethan Page, who always felt like he was taking a backseat to partner Scorpio Sky in Men of the Year, may finally have found his footing in The Firm.

Is AEW ready to push Page harder? Giving him a win here only really makes sense if the company is committed to at least having him in the final. It’s hard to say for sure but it certainly might be his time.

Prediction: Page advances

First round: Bandido vs. Rush

This is a nice showcase for both men, put particularly Bandido since he is going to be sticking around as an AEW regular. He is a fantastic talent who should only get more love from the fans as they are exposed to more of his work.

Rush is great too, but has been on TV a fair amount over the past few months. A win for him is logical if Kingston wins the other quarterfinal on this side of the bracket, but since we’re rolling with Page, we’ll go with the face here.

Prediction: Bandido advances

First round: Lance Archer vs. Ricky Starks

Though Lance Archer hasn’t consistently been on AEW TV for a while, the company always treats him like a big deal when he’s around. Thus, his inclusion in the tournament is fine even though he’s barely been on Dynamite or Rampage for months.

So he’s moving on for sure, right? Not so fast. AEW just had Ricky Starks cut a promo last week touting his entrance in the tourney and positioning him for bigger things. Like Page, Starks is a very talented performer who simply hasn’t been given the push to prove it. It would be disappointing if AEW went to the effort to highlight that just to have him lose in the first round, whereas a victory over Archer would be huge for Starks.

Prediction: Starks advances

First round: Brian Cage vs. Dante Martin

This feels like the clearest first round match of the four. Brian Cage has recently been back on TV quite a bit, albeit on the ROH side as part of The Embassy. Dante Martin is the perennial “look great in a losing effort” guy and that would apply here once again.

The x-factor would be if Cage’s Embassy beef with Samoa Joe and Wardlow spills over into this bout, which could definitely happen. Otherwise, Cage should move forward.

Prediction: Cage advances

Semifinals

Page vs. Bandido wouldn’t really be a battle of contrasting styles as much as a showdown between two wrestlers who can do a little bit of everything. We haven’t even mentioned The Firm giving Page the edge, but it’s not hard to picture the faction lending the hand he’d need to overcome Bandido, who doesn’t have obvious friends to come to his aid since he’s still new to AEW. That could be the difference.

On the other side of the bracket, Starks and Cage have history as former Team Taz members who eventually had a falling out. Things are different now since Cage was (sort of) the fan favorite when he left the group and Starks is now in that position. Cage also has a team backing him whereas Starks doesn’t, but maybe this is where Joe and Wardlow show up to counter The Embassy. Either way, Starks making the final would be great for him.

Prediction: Page, Starks advance

Final

If it is indeed Page and Starks in the final, it could be a bellwether for what goes down in Full Gear’s main event. A Page victory makes more sense if it’s Moxley who retains, seeing as it would make for a more classic heel vs. face title match at Winter is Coming.

That said, MJF has been showing face tendencies of his own, and while it’s possible he’s simply going to show his true colors after he dethrones Mox — in which case having Starks win this tournament would be the way to go, particularly since Max and Ricky would be a really fun battle of dueling promos for a few weeks — it’s just as likely AEW wants him to keep leaning into that for a bit longer.

As well, MJF has had a falling out with The Firm that could carry over for another month if he wins the AEW World Championship and Page emerges here. For that reason, Page going all the way is the outcome we’ve talked ourselves into.

Prediction: Page wins the tournament
