Is AEW Collision live tonight, 04/06/24?

Find out if and when you need to tune in for AEW Collision tonight on TNT.

AEW Collision has been a Saturday night stalwart since its debut, but AEW knew there would be times that TNT Sports would have obligations to unscripted sports that might force it to change times or be pre-empted altogether.

This weekend is one of those times. It’s the final weekend of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, better known as the Final Four. And TNT just happens to be the home for the semifinal games on Saturday night.

Unlike earlier in the tournament, however, Collision isn’t getting pre-empted altogether. It’s just going on a lot later than normal, after the second semifinal game and a post-game show that should last about 30 minutes.

That means AEW Collision will begin tonight at approximately 11:30 p.m. ET, though that could even slide back later if either of the games goes to overtime. As you may have guessed, it’s also not live: This episode was taped on Wednesday after Dynamite.

This is a one-week deal, however, as Collision will be back on its normal night and time on Saturday, April 13.

There is, of course, some other pretty significant pro wrestling going on tonight. A Showcase of the Immortals, you might say. So you can enjoy that or the basketball and get ready to watch Collison late tonight.

AEW Collision results 03/30/24: Adam Copeland is Alwayz Ready for 1st title defense

Several Dynasty matches also came into focus during AEW Collision in Ontario.

What do you do when your bigger competition is about to have its biggest event of the year? Just keep keeping on and put on the best shows you can, which is what AEW Collision will hopefully be tonight in Ontario.

AEW has found some hot crowds during its current Canadian swing, and this should be no exception since Adam Copeland is making the first defense of his TNT Championship. We won’t know who the challenger is until their music hits, which is always fun.

Other big business (no pun intended) for Collision includes a pair of tag team title tournament matches that will help advance two duos toward a title match at Dynasty. We’ve got FTR and Big Bill/Ricky Starks to move on, but we shall see.

Here’s how it all went down.

AEW Collision results from London, Ontario:

  • Adam Copeland kicks off the show by saying how grateful he is to be in Ontario and how the stakes are raised for the Cope Open since he’ll be defending his TNT Championship in these matches now; Copeland makes the call for someone to come out and accept the challenge, and it’s answered by Matt Cardona

  • Adam Copeland def. Matt Cardona by pinfall to retain the AEW TNT Championship
  • After the match, the lights go out and come back on to reveal Malakai Black standing in the ring, bringing on a “holy s–t” chant from the crowd; Buddy Matthews attacks Copeland from behind, and Mark Briscoe fares poorly while trying to help him, but the appearance of Eddie Kingston to reinforce the faces gets the House of Black to pull a disappearing act
  • Lexy Nair asks FTR about their strategy against The Infantry, to which Cash Wheeler says it’s to not look past their opponents since they’ve been on a losing streak, and Dax Harwood says they need to make sure The Infantry’s Cinderella story ends tonight

  • Daddy Ass cuts a promo on Jay White ahead of their meeting on the next episode of Dynamite, and The Acclaimed have some choice words for all of Bullet Club Gold as well

Why AEW Collision won’t have to go head to head with WrestleMania night 1

Fans of both AEW and WWE should be able to watch WrestleMania night 1 and then switch to TNT later for Collision on April 6.

Ever since AEW Collision launched last year on Saturday nights, there’s been some fascination about how it would handle some specific competition. For wrestling fans, said competition doesn’t get any bigger than the first night of WrestleMania.

While there are of course many options for watching TV broadcasts after the fact these days, the live audience for the Saturday, April 6 episode of Collision figured to be affected greatly if it was shown at the same time as WrestleMania 40 night 1 from Philadelphia.

But it turns out that won’t be the case. As noted by Wrestling Observer, TNT will be showing the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament, a.k.a. the Final Four, starting at 6 p.m. Those games will run through Collision’s 8-10 p.m. time slot and beyond.

TNT has Collision listed for an 11:30 p.m. ET start, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from the tourney over the years, it’s that the games could run long and Collision might start later. That will certainly have a negative impact on live ratings, thought it does mean that wrestling superfans (and intrepid media like those of us here at Wrestling Junkie) will be able to catch Collision after WrestleMania.

It’s also not as big a deal since Collision won’t be live. The show will be taped on Wednesday, April 3 after Dynamite in Worcester, Mass.

There was no Collision at all this past Saturday, March 23, also due to college hoops. The good news is that the show is live this coming Saturday, March 30, in its normal time on TNT, and will be good to go on April 13 and beyond. The question about going head to head with WrestleMania will have to wait at least another year, but considering these events all fall at around the same time annually, this may well be the norm as long as Warner Bros. Discovery retains AEW’s broadcast rights.

AEW Collision results 03/16/24: Danielson downs Shibata in dream match

Christian Cage also revealed what was in his case on AEW Collision and how he’s going to use it on Christian Cage.

How we feeling, AEW fans? The promotion seems to have received a shot in the arm as of late, and that’s no surprise considering Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Moné all arrived within weeks of each other. It’s a crazy talent infusion, but none of it will be part of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision.

Will that matter? Maybe not, as AEW felt a little more focused even in the build-up to Revolution earlier this month. Maybe not quite to the point where it’s restored the peak enthusiasm from a few years ago, but trending upward for sure.

Plus, if there’s one thing Tony Khan can be counted on to do, it’s to book a dream match out of nowhere just because he can. Bryan Danielson vs. Katsuyori Shibata, come on down!

So while the three newcomers are of course all amazing, AEW doesn’t have to rely on only them, and we should see that tonight from Canada’s capital. Let’s see.

AEW Collision results 03/02/24: Revolution Eve in Huntsville

AEW Collision filled in the final spot on the Revolution card and added a match to the pre-show as well.

We’re so, so close to AEW Revolution now. In fact, we’re so close that AEW Collision isn’t live tonight, having been taped earlier this week in Huntsville, Ala.

It’s a go home show for sure, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing important happening. For one, there’s a three-way match that will fill the final spot in the

AEW Collision results:

  • Buddy Matthews was supposed to wrestle an unknown opponent when he was attacked by Mark Briscoe; a wild brawl ensued that also drew in other members of the House of Black, but Briscoe was able to fight them all off and nearly managed to burn Matthews with the pyro and flame jests before the House retreated
  • Swerve Strickland admits that Hangman Adam Page tricked him good on Dynamite, but also says it won’t happen again and that he’ll take the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe at Revolution
  • Dante Martin def. Bryan Keith and Penta El Zero Miedo by pinning Keith to win a spot in the All-Star 8-Man Scramble at Revolution
  • Page is shown angrily explaining that he isn’t proud of the deception he pulled off but insists “I had to do it”
  • Mariah May def. Angelica Risk by pinfall; afterward, “Timeless” Toni Storm blows by May right after the bell and calls for Deonna Purrazzo to join her in the ring, and the two friends turned rivals exchange one last set of threats, then some blows after Storm kisses Purrazzo on the cheek; May tries to help Storm but gets beaten up for her efforts

AEW Collision results 02/10/24: The Stone Pitbull gets Freshly Squeezed

Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo each picked up victories on AEW Collision near Las Vegas as well.

Las Vegas sure has been the center of attention for all kinds of sports, unscripted and otherwise, this week. We’d like to think AEW Collision is part of it, even though it’s technically not in Las Vegas, but in nearby Henderson.

That’s really not that big a distinction, honestly. The point is that it’s somewhat out of the way of being swallowed up by all things surrounding the big football game on Sunday. And it appears some of AEW’s most compelling subplots will be furthered on this show, including the great program between Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo.

We’ll also see the latest visitors from CMLL as they continue their battle against the Blackpool Combat Club. And the Forbidden Door will stay open for what we assume will be the main event, as Orange Cassidy takes on Tomohiro Ishii.

That sounds like a very fine appetizer before tomorrow’s big game. Let’s check it all out from the top.

  • Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley def. Esfinge and Star Jr. by submission
  • Mox gets on the mic afterward and says whether it’s CMLL or any other team in the world, anyone who steps up gets stepped on; that boast brings FTR to the ring, and it doesn’t take long for fisticuffs to break out, and it takes referees, officials and other wrestlers to break it up

  • Daniel Garcia def. Shane Taylor by submission
  • Highlights from Dynamite show Darby Allin and Sting winning the tag team titles, then getting attacked by the Young Bucks
  • Lexy Nair talks to Eddie Kingston, who chastises the Bucks and Bryan Danielson for taking the spotlight away from others; as a result, he’s challenging Danielson to a match at Revolution, and if Eddie wins, Bryan has to shake his hand

  • Brian Cage def. The Outrunners by submission; afterward, the Vegas Golden Knights mascot Chance does the Nana dance with Prince Nana and gets laid out by Cage, which in turn brings Hook to the rescue to battle Cage to the back

  • Roderick Strong and The Kingdom talk some smack to Tomohiro Ishii, who is in no mood to shake hands with them

  • Adam Copeland joins Tony Schiavone in the ring to discuss the pros and cons of challenging for each title when he’s joined by Garcia, who notes that he’s also been picking up plenty of wins; Copeland proposes they battle it out on Dynamite, with the winner going on to challenge Christian Cage for the TNT Championship, but he also warns Garcia that he’s going to get a beating next week

  • Renee Paquette talks to Stokely Hathaway, who says there are only two badasses in the women’s division, Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale, and they want him to get them a match against Julia Hart and Skye Blue
  • Brody King def. Mark Briscoe by pinfall, helped in part by a timely distraction from Julia Hart, who also attacks Briscoe after the match with a metal spike
  • Bryan Keith warns everyone in AEW that they’ll have to pay up

AEW Collision results 02/03/24: FTGar? FTR, Garcia outduel The Patriarchy

FTR and Daniel Garcia grabbed another big victory on AEW Collision.

The news in the pro wrestling business continues to flow at such a furious pace that sometimes it’s nice that we actually get to watch some wrestling for a couple of hours. That makes this episode of AEW Collision from Edinburg, Texas almost a form of escapism, as it looks to have a very nice card.

The main event is an interesting matchup pitting Christian Cage and his henchmen in The Patriarchy against FTR and Daniel Garcia, a combo we wouldn’t have thought of a few months ago that’s turned out to make so much sense. There’s also a very intriguing bout between Bryan Danielson and Hechicero as CMLL’s semi-invasion continues.

Let’s sit back and enjoy.

AEW Collision results from Edinburg, Texas:

  • Eddie Kingston def. Bryan Keith by pinfall in a Proving Ground match, meaning Keith would have earned a title shot had he won … but he did not, so there we go
  • Tony Schiavone heads to the ring to announce that Keith is now All Elite, and the Bounty Hunter gets some props from Kingston, who looks irritated when Bryan Danielson also joins them and raises Keith’s arm

  • Jon Moxley cuts a promo about the CMLL wrestlers showing up and thinking this would be “like that show on the other channel” and feature “easy, lazy American wrestlers,” concluding by warning that they better hope the BCC never shows up in their backyard

  • Bryan Danielson def. Hechicero by pinfall; Claudio Castagnoli arrives in time to prevent a post-match sour grapes beatdown from the loser
  • Lexy Nair asks Daniel Garcia and FTR if they’re going to remain a trio, and even though they admit they didn’t expect it, they’re OK with sticking together, and Dax Harwood points out they’re in the trios rankings now to boot

  • Mark Briscoe joins Schiavone in the ring and is psyched to be in there with him as he remembers watching Tony call wrestling as a kid; he has some words for House of Black too, who appear on the video screen to threaten to eradicate him from pro wrestling history

AEW Collision results 01/13/24: House of Black keeps FTR down bad

Even with Daniel Garcia to help, FTR couldn’t overcome the House of Black on AEW Collision.

There’s a really, really cold football playoff game right now. You know where it will be much warmer and still plenty entertaining? In Norfolk, the site of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision.

While there are a few interesting matches on the card tonight, the main event figures to be FTR and Daniel Garcia teaming to face the House of Black. The House has been messing with FTR for some time now, claiming to be the only ones who love them.

But Garcia proved that wrong when he came to the duo’s rescue after an assault by … yes, you got it, the House of Black. Guess it’s tough love.

It may be an unlikely team-up, but it’s one that works as Garcia tries to balance his love of dancing with his road back toward being more pro wrestler and less sports entertainer. FTR can definitely help him with that. Let’s see if they do that and come out with a win tonight.

  • Adam Copeland is out in his gear, meaning it’s time for the Cope Open; he asks who will step up, and he gets … Lee Moriarty, who gets a short hype video before he takes on Copeland
  • Adam Copeland def. Lee Moriarty by submission; after the match, Copeland returns to the mic and warns Christian Cage that “I’m still coming for your scrawny ass”
  • Lexy Nair asks FTR and Daniel Garcia if they can get along well enough to deal with House of Black, and they seem to be like-minded enough about what they’re doing that it won’t be a problem

  • Nair talks to Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho ahead of their tag team title match on Battle of the Belts
  • Mogul Embassy (Brian Cage and Gates of Agony) def. Lance Archer and The Righteous by pinfall to retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship; afterward, Prince Nana calls his team the greatest ROH six-man tag team champs of all time and scoffs at Bullet Club Gold before challenging them for the next episode of Dynamite

AEW Collision results 01/06/24: The House always wins, Sting does too

Sting said farewell to Charlotte and the House of Black got the last laugh on FTR on AEW Collision.

The sad thing about a legend saying goodbye over an extended period of time is that every time they compete, it’s the last time somewhere. That’s the glass half empty view. The glass half full version is that it allows fans in many different places to say goodbye when the show comes to them, which is the case for AEW Collision tonight in Charlotte.

It’s a city that has no lack of history with Sting, of course, but with Revolution and his retirement match coming up in just a few months, this will be the Icon’s last stop in the Queen City. He should get a heck of a reaction as a result, and it’s very cool that he’s in action alongside Darby Allin tonight.

There’s other fun stuff planned, including a title defense by Eddie Kingston and some words from Adam Copeland. Not a bad way to spend a snowy/rainy winter Saturday evening, so on to the action.

It is understandable if you haven’t done that a whole lot over the last 12 months, as the industry has not provided many opportunities to take in a soothing sigh of relief.

There were many ups, quite a few downs, but all in all, 2023 was a banner year for professional wrestling that in hindsight will be fondly remembered as one of the most impactful in the history of the industry.
