Auburn signee Aden Holloway set to compete in McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday

Be sure to watch Holloway compete on Tuesday night in the prestigious All-American game.

Auburn 2023 signee [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] will compete on the big stage Tuesday night as he takes the floor at the McDonald’s All-American Game in Houston, Texas.

Holloway is Auburn’s lone high school signee of the 2023 cycle, but he is considered to be one of the nation’s best guards of the class. He is the No. 6 overall player from the State of California, and the No. 6 point guard according to 247Sports, which also lists him as a four-star prospect.

Holloway was named to the McDonald’s All-American East team roster in January, as he plans to represent his hometown of Matthews, North Carolina. In the game, he will be teammates with Michigan State signee Xavier Booker, Oregon signee Kwame Brown, and Colorado signee Cody Williams.

ESPN’s Paul Biancardi says that he is looking forward to the matchup between Holloway and the son of NBA legend Lebron James, Bronny James, on Tuesday.

Holloway is one of the best shot-makers in the class. He shot 40% this season and can shoot it from deep with a quick trigger. He makes shots in diverse ways: catch-and-shoot actions, cutting off screens and stopping behind ball screens. He is an impactful jump shooter you must stay connected with. James has made considerable progress, becoming an all-around player with an upside as a defender. He utilizes instincts and emerging athletic ability to play one-on-one defense, take a charge or make an impressive chase down clock. His IQ and shot-making have been steady all season. Covering Holloway is a challenge for anyone. James has to able limit his 3s and contest his shots as he anticipates his dribble drive. Will Holloway keep James from getting a driving line angle and making a highlight?

Holloway is the fifth Auburn signee ever to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, joining [autotag]Korvotney Barber[/autotag], [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag], [autotag]Frank Ford[/autotag], and most recently, a first-round selection of the Houston Rockets, [autotag]Jabari Smith[/autotag].

The McDonald’s All-American Game will be broadcasted live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CT.

Is Auburn an option for Syracuse guard Joe Girard?

Auburn appears to be in contact with Syracuse’s leading scorer, who averaged 16.1 points per game for the Orange this season.

It has been a week since Auburn’s season came to an end at the hands of the Houston Cougars in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. The Tigers have not wasted any time, however, as head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and staff have started to pursue players in the transfer portal.

Among these players is [autotag]Joe Girard III[/autotag], a guard for the Syracuse Orange who has made it clear that he plans to test the NBA Draft waters but will also enter the transfer portal to keep his options open.

Girard led Syracuse in scoring this past season, averaging 16.4 points per game. Girard also averaged 2.3 rebounds and three assists per game. The Glens Falls, New York native has played in almost every game for the Orange since joining the program in 2019.

In a tweet from New York Times basketball insider, Adam Zagoria, the schools that have reached out to Girard were listed. Aside from Auburn, Girard has been contacted by major programs such as Indiana, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, and Ohio State.

Landing Girard would go a long way toward building up the guard position for the Tigers. At this point, the only new face joining Auburn this fall is [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag], the No. 6 point guard in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports.

Wendell Green unsure about future at Auburn

Auburn’s point guard has a decision to make regarding his future with the program.

After being the primary ball-handler for the Tigers in 2023, [autotag]Wendell Green Jr[/autotag]. maybe exploring other avenues.

In a recent episode of The Next Round, Green talked about Auburn’s time in the NCAA Tournament, as well as his future with the program. Green says that he is proud to be an Auburn Tiger, but has not made a decision regarding returning to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

“For me, I love Auburn,” Green said on The Next Round. “I haven’t thought about it too much yet…that’s a conversation I’m gonna have with my family and, you know, we’re gonna see what’s happening next”

Green has held a big role in the program for the past two seasons. The former Eastern Kentucky Colonel transferred to Auburn in 2021. He played in 33 games that season, starting four of them. Green saw his role greatly expand for the 2022-23 season, starting all 34 games.

Green averaged 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. His season-high was scoring 24 points in Auburn’s final regular season game, the 79-70 win over the Tennessee Volunteers on March 4th.

Auburn will have [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag], the No. 27 player and the No. 6 point guard in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports, coming in for next season. The Tigers will also be looking to make some additions to the roster via the transfer portal.

The junior from Detroit, Michigan has one year of eligibility remaining. Time will tell if he decides to use it with Auburn or explore other options that may be available for him.

Auburn could be a potential landing spot for Denver Jones

The Huntsville native averaged 20.1 points per game for FIU this season.

With Auburn’s season coming to an end at the hands of the Houston Cougars in Birmingham on Saturday night, the recruiting efforts for the Tigers will only ramp up.

[autotag]Denver Jones[/autotag], a 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Florida International University, entered the transfer portal Monday, and Auburn is among the teams who have reached out to him.

In a tweet from On3 recruiting expert Joe Tipton, Jones listed the schools that have expressed interest. Other than Auburn, the list included many big-name programs including Arkansas, Missouri, Memphis, Miami, Georgia, Florida State and LSU.

Jones averaged 20.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists for the Panthers this season. He shot 47.8% from the field and 37.1% from three-point range.

Jones is a native of New Market, Alabama. He played for Garden City Community College before heading to Miami to play with FIU.

It will likely be a big transfer portal year for Auburn as the Tigers only have one signee at this point: [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag], a four-star point guard and the No. 27 player in the 2023 recruiting class according to 247 Sports.

Guard play was one of the Tigers’ many inconsistencies in 2023 and landing Jones would go a long way toward helping the position get back on track. There could potentially be a lot of roster turnover this offseason, so there will be room for fresh talent.

Chance Westry working to come back from injury better than ever

Westry is putting in work behind the scenes in an effort to have a bounce back season in 2023-24.

After a stellar Israel summer tour that saw him score 10.3 points per game, Auburn fans were excited about the potential production that freshman [autotag]Chance Westry[/autotag] could bring to Auburn’s already talented squad.

However, Westry has not returned to his standard playing shape after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in October. This has caused him not to see the floor since early January and has limited him to only seeing action in 11 games this season.

After Auburn’s 76-64 loss to Georgia on Jan. 4, head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] elected to shut down Westry, which will allow him to redshirt and get a second chance at being a freshman again in 2023-24. In his time away from the action, Westry has been working to prepare for next season.

“It’s been pretty hard, you know, because I’m not out there playing,” Westry said Wednesday at Legacy Arena. “Seeing everything and also being the player that I am, I want to go out there and try to fix some things, but it’s been hard. I’ve been getting stronger every day… and getting ready for next year so I can be out there myself.”

Several changes that Westry has taken on have been adding weight. He weighed 183 pounds in the summer but has now grown to 197 pounds thanks to a plan set forth by Auburn’s strength and conditioning coach, Damon Davis. That is one of the main reasons why Pearl remains confident that Westry can ultimately become the player that he was before the surgery.

“I mean, it means a lot,” Westry said. “(Pearl) believes in me. Obviously, he sees the best, so I’m just going to live up to what he sees and be even better.”

Westry was a four-star combo guard from Chandler, Arizona as a member of the 2022 signing class, joining [autotag]Yohan Traore[/autotag] and [autotag]Tre Donaldson[/autotag]. Looking ahead to next season’s roster, Westry will join [autotag]Wendell Green Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]K.D. Johnson[/autotag] as one of four returning guards, with freshman signee [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] joining the mix.

Auburn signee added to McDonalds All-American team

Aden Holloway becomes the first Auburn signee to earn the honor since Jabari Smith in 2021.

Class of 2024 Auburn signee [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] has joined an elite company.

Not only is he one of the best players to ever sign with Auburn, but he is also one of the few Auburn signees to ever earn the honor of being a McDonald’s All-American.

Holloway was one of 24 players named to the 2023 McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday. The Matthews, North Carolina native will compete on the East team, alongside Michigan State signee Xavier Booker, Oregon signee Kwame Brown, and Colorado signee Cody Williams.

He becomes the fifth Auburn signee to be honored as a McDonald’s All-American and becomes the first since [autotag]Jabari Smith[/autotag] in 2021. Former Tigers [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag], [autotag]Korvotney Barber[/autotag], and [autotag]Frank Ford[/autotag] were also recognized as high school All-Americans.

Holloway is a four-star point guard originally from Murphy, North Carolina, but currently plays high school basketball for Prolific Prep in Napa, California. He is Auburn’s lone 2023 signee and is the fourth-best player to ever sign with Auburn according to 247Sports. 2023 Auburn basketball recruit officially signs with team

Holloway is thus far Auburn’s only hard commit for the 2023 class.

One of Auburn’s point guard recruits has officially signed to become a Tiger.

[autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag], who is a part of Auburn’s 2023 class, officially signed with the Tigers on Monday. Holloway announced his recruitment on the first day of August.

Holloway is one of the best recruits in the country for the 2023 class. 247Sports has Holloway as the 5th-best point guard in the class and the 28th-best recruit in the nation, and now there isn’t any doubt that he’ll be coming to the Plains. Holloway received 14 offers but only visited four schools in his recruiting process in Wake Forest, Tennessee, Miami and Auburn. In the end, Auburn won out and Holloway made sealed his commitment on Monday.

The 6’0″, 155-pound prospect becomes so far the only recruit for Auburn’s 2023 class. The Tigers have offered 34 other recruits in the class, but none of them have committed as of yet. Last year, Auburn ended up with three commits, so it is possible that the Tigers will end up with a slightly bigger class once the recruiting period is over.

Four star guard Cam Scott talks Auburn, recruiting

South Carolina’s No. 1 prospect from the 2024 cycle recently received a visit from Bruce Pearl.

Auburn Basketball and head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] are always finding ways to improve, even if it means getting a jump start in recruiting.

The target that is getting the most buzz recently is [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag], a four-star guard from Lexington, South Carolina. Scott is still in the early stages of his recruitment but has fielded from a handful of programs including Auburn.

Pearl recently traveled to South Carolina to talk with Scott, and Scott is planning to return the favor by visiting Auburn unofficially on Nov. 11. Scott recently shared his thoughts on Auburn with On3’s Jamie Shaw, he says that Pearl has compared him to a recent Auburn star.

“It really has to do with their coach. He is a very high level coach and just watching how he’s put people into place and just getting them to the next level. (Pearl) says he likes my build. It’s like Jabari Smith, a long and athletic build. It’s something where he likes the shooters too. So he likes being able to get up and down the floor and get quick shots.”

It appears that Scott is interested in Duke, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas in addition to Auburn. What is the biggest factor in choosing a school? Somewhere that he can gain a full college experience in a home-like environment.

“I want to go somewhere I can feel comfortable, where I can get better every day, but still be able to have my fun when I need it,” Scott said. “I want to go somewhere where I can keep everything easy, off my mind and I can just go in and work every day.”

Looking at Auburn’s recent commits, the Tigers have one pledge so far in [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag]. Holloway is a four-star point guard from Napa, California, and is ranked No. 28 in the 2023 recruting cycle.

Auburn lands four-star guard Aden Holloway

Auburn’s first commit of the 2023 cycle is a four-star combo guard from Prolific Prep in California.

Auburn has earned its first commitment of the 2023 recruiting cycle in four-star guard, [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] from Prolific Prep in California.

Holloway chose Auburn Monday night over Tennessee. He also received offers from Wake Forest, Miami, and Virginia Tech.

Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst, says that Holloway is a tad undersized at 6-1. But what he lacks in height, he makes up for with high court intelligence.

Aden Holloway is a fearless point guard. He is very crafty with the ball, able to get to his spots off the bounce and he can create space to get his shot off. While Holloway does not have optimal measurables and is an average athlete, his skill and his confidence help him produce. The size will be questioned, and any coach who takes him will have to be ok with a smaller guard. He has a tendency to over-dribble and can be questioned on the defensive end. He has been consistently very good for La Porte (IN) LaLumiere School this season, against the highest level competition.

Looking at the rest of Auburn’s recruiting board for 2023, [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] is expected to land the commitments of two big men for the class, Jordan Butler and Assane Diop, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Auburn is the favorite to land four-star guard from California

Aden Holloway, the nation’s No. 8 guard for the 2023 cycle, is set to choose between Auburn and Tennessee on Monday evening.

Even though [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and his Auburn basketball squad are halfway around the globe, their focus tonight will be on Napa Valley, California, and four-star guard [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag].

Holloway, the No. 39 overall prospect for the 2023 recruiting cycle, is set to announce his commitment on Monday night, where he will choose between two SEC programs in Auburn and Tennessee.

Holloway visited Auburn officially on Jan. 31, three days after Auburn extended an offer. In a recent interview with Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live, Holloway says that he appreciates everything that Auburn has to offer.

“Auburn is a great place to be as a person,” Holloway said. “Yes, it’s a big basketball school, but it’s also a great place to live your life. You have to have stability around you that’s not basketball, and I feel like it’s a great place for that. It’s a great family atmosphere and I can get better. Plus the staff is amazing.”

Holloway is set to announce his commitment at 7 p.m. CDT on Monday, August 1. According to On3 and 247Sports, he is expected to commit to Auburn.
