While he hasn’t fought over the past 17 months, mostly due to COVID, of course, he said he did not miss a week of training as he tried staying sharp despite the lack of fights. He was supposed to face Deines in October, but a rib injury pushed it to Jan. 30, 2021. The fight was off again then, as Beterbiev tested positive for COVID.

Adam Deines
Deines (19-1-1, 10 KOs) won his past two fights by KO/TKO, pushing past Josef Lehr in five rounds Aug. 17, 2019, and in just two rounds Sept. 28, 2019, against Yevgenii Makhteienko. He has been waiting out Beterbiev and his injury and COVID situation. He might wish the fight would get postponed again as he is a huge underdog and not expected to last long with the champ.

Beterbiev vs. Deines: Odds, predictions and picks
Beterbiev (-2500) is just too expensive, as you would need to put up $100 for every $4 won. That’s just too risky, even if there is very little chance of Deines (+1000) pulling off the upset. The German boxer will be overmatched in this one.
Even the method of victory is very expensive, as BETERBIEV BY KO/TKO/TECHNICAL DECISION OR DQ (-800) will cost you eight times your return. But Beterbiev is 15-for-15 in his career with knockouts, so it’s a good bet even with so much risk.
In addition, look to individual round betting for a good value. I like to target a three-round block. Look to BETERBIEV IN ROUND 4 (+600), BETERBIEV IN ROUND 5 (+700) and BETERBIEV IN ROUND 6 (+800).
