The European giants will meet at Yankee Stadium in New York

Manchester City will face AC Milan on Saturday in a high-profile friendly at Yankee Stadium in New York.

City will play at the home of sister club New York City FC, part of the City Football Group.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to make things right after losing 4-3 to Celtic in a friendly in North Carolina on Tuesday. After facing Milan, City will have two more tough matchups in the U.S. as it faces Barcelona in Orlando and Chelsea in Columbus.

For AC Milan, this will be the first match of a three-game U.S. tour ahead of the 2024-25 season.

All eyes will be on the club’s American stars Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah, who will look to put in strong displays in their home country.

Milan will face Real Madrid in Chicago and Barcelona in Baltimore to close out its tour of America.

Christian Pulisic didn’t exactly guarantee it, but there seems to be a decent chance the AC Milan star will break out an unorthodox celebration if he scores against Manchester City on Saturday.

Pulisic was a guest on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, as the U.S. men’s national team star made his late-night debut.

The forward was in New York promoting AC Milan’s three-game preseason tour of the USA, which kicks off Saturday at Yankee Stadium against the Premier League champions.

If Pulisic scores in that match, Fallon is hoping he’ll perform a throwback celebration that pays tribute to a movie that was released 12 years before he was born.

Fallon requested Pulisic perform the “Three Amigos” salute, with which the forward understandably didn’t seem to be familiar.

For those, like Pulisic, who don’t remember the 1986 classic starring Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Martin Short, the salute goes like this:

Fallon reenacted the salute in front of Pulisic and though he didn’t exactly get a guarantee that that USMNT star will honor the John Landis film if he finds the net at Yankee Stadium, it wasn’t a hard no either.

If Pulisic scores on Saturday, the tension will be enormous.

Does Christian Pulisic have a golfer girlfriend? Maybe!

American sports may have a new power couple

Christian Pulisic and Alexa Melton may not be an official couple, but the pro golfer is willing to admit the pair are in their “soft launch” phase.

Melton drew plenty of attention with an Instagram post over the weekend in which she commemorated her first U.S. Women’s Open. Among a carousel of 10 photos was one with Melton and the U.S. men’s national team star.

The tournament took place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — a short drive from Pulisic’s hometown of Hershey, where he was doing promotional work last week.

In the comments on Melton’s post, fellow golfer Briana Chacon said: “Hard launch,” to which Melton replied: “I’m classifying this as a soft launch.”

A few days after Melton’s post, Pulisic similarly posted a carousel of photos that included one of the pair together on the golf course.

Melton, 23, is currently in her second season on the Epson Tour, previously known as the LPGA Futures Tour. The California native turned pro in 2023 after playing collegiately at Pepperdine and the University of Southern California.

The romance rumors between Melton and Pulisic continued an active period of off-field news for some of the USMNT’s biggest stars.

Weston McKennie and model Chiara Frattesi — sister of Inter star Davide Frattessi — appeared to couple up and then break up within the span of a month.

Gio Reyna, meanwhile, is officially off the market after announcing his engagement to his long-time partner Chloe Ortolano over the weekend.

Paramount Plus announces Christian Pulisic documentary series

The behind-the-scenes series will debut this fall

Paramount Plus has announced a multi-part documentary series on Christian Pulisic that will debut this fall.

The show, which will take place over multiple seasons, promises an “in-depth, behind-the-scenes look” at one of American soccer’s biggest stars.

“Christian Pulisic is the most high-profile men’s player to ever come out of America but very little is known about his personal life,” said Pete Radovich, CBS Sports senior creative director.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Christian to tell his life story, show the world who he really is, and highlight the tremendous impact he’s had on American soccer leading into the most demanding moments of his career.”

The show will begin filming this summer, and will follow Pulisic through the Copa América with the U.S. men’s national team. The series will then shift to Italy, where Pulisic will be embarking on his second season with AC Milan after a hugely successful debut campaign.

“I think it’s the perfect opportunity for me to show people a little bit of what it’s like being an American out in Europe, the struggles I go through, all these things,” Pulisic said in an interview on Paramount Plus.

“So for me, I think it’s a great time leading up to the World Cup in the U.S., so I’m just really excited about it.”

USMNT star Pulisic skips AC Milan postseason tour of Australia

In a piece of good news for the U.S. men’s national team, Christian Pulisic was left off AC Milan’s squad for the club’s postseason trip to Australia.

Milan only just finished its season over the weekend, but the club will head out this week to face Roma in a friendly in Perth on Friday.

Most of Milan’s first-team players will make the trip, though Ismaël Bennacer and Rafael Leão weren’t part of the group heading Down Under.

Also missing out was Pulisic, who just wrapped up a career-best season that saw him record 15 goals and 11 assists.

Pulisic was reportedly left off due to commercial commitments. Based on an Instagram post, the USMNT star appeared to be back home in Pennsylvania on Monday.

For the USMNT, seeing Pulisic skip a grueling trip across the globe after a season in which he played 50 games will be welcome news.

The U.S. will convene in the Washington D.C. area later this week as it gets set to face Colombia in a friendly at Commanders Field on June 8. The team will then take on Brazil in Orlando on June 12 in its final tune-up ahead of the Copa América.

Another key member of the USMNT, Yunus Musah, was on Milan’s roster for the trip to Australia, and is set to be a late arrival into camp.

Pulisic sends heartfelt message to Pioli: ‘You helped me find joy in the game again’

The USMNT star had his best season ever under the Italian coach’s guidance

Christian Pulisic has sent a message of gratitude to departing AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli, crediting the coach with helping him find joy in the game again.

Pioli signed off on a five-year tenure in charge of Milan on Saturday, coaching the team for the final time in a 3-3 draw with Salernitana.

Pulisic grabbed an assist in the Serie A finale, capping off a career-best season that saw him record 15 goals and 11 assists in his debut campaign with the Rossoneri.

Pioli has been instrumental in Pulisic’s revival, giving the U.S. men’s national team forward the consistent starting role he was never able to nail down at Chelsea.

The American has previously attributed his success in Milan to the trust he received from Pioli, and following Saturday’s game, he posted a heartfelt farewell to the Italian in a post on Instagram.

“Thank you for everything Mister,” Pulisic wrote. “You and your staff helped me find the joy in this beautiful game again and for that I’m most grateful. Wishing you nothing but the best always!

“And thank you fans for the support this year. Here’s to bigger and better things next year.”

Milan finished Pulisic’s debut season in second place, failing to bring home any silverware in an up-and-down campaign.

Pulisic also paid tribute to two departing Milan players in his Instagram story, saying of Simon Kjaer: “It’s been a pleasure, wishing you nothing but the best.”

He also made sure to mention Olivier Giroud, with whom he played at Chelsea and at Milan: “Gonna miss you buddy, some special memories together,” Pulisic said.

With the season over, Pulisic will take some time off before reporting to USMNT camp ahead of pre-Copa América friendlies against Colombia and Brazil next month.

Pulisic wraps career-best season with AC Milan assist in Salernitana draw

The result was a bit awkward, but Pulisic stayed productive as AC Milan finished its season

Christian Pulisic concluded the best season of his club career with one more assist as AC Milan and Salernitana battled to a 3-3 draw on Saturday.

Pulisic’s in-swinging cross found Milan captain Davide Calabria in the second half for what turned out to be an important goal, as Milan let a two-goal lead slip away against Serie A’s bottom club.

The U.S. men’s national team star finished the 2023-24 season with 15 goals and 11 assists in what was a highly successful first season with the Rossoneri. Among Serie A players this season, only Pulisic, teammate Rafael Leão, and Roma’s Paulo Dybala managed to score 15 or more goals and add 10-plus assists in all competitions.

Along with the productivity in front of goal, Pulisic was recently nominated for Serie A’s Midfielder of the Year award.

To get his assist, Pulisic first tracked down a Theo Hernández through ball in the 73rd minute. Once he managed to keep the ball in play, Pulisic pushed the ball back a touch before whipping in an inch-perfect cross for Calabria, who slashed through the defense to head in Milan’s third goal on the day.

At the time, it seemed like a bit of padding for Milan, who had dominated the match against a Salernitana side that has known relegation is coming for some time now.

It seemed like a good farewell for manager Stefano Pioli and big names like Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer, who are all leaving the club this summer.

However, late goals from Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo and Junior Sambia spoiled the mood somewhat, with Milan players left a bit sheepish as they saluted fans at the San Siro for the last time this season.

Still, for Pulisic it’s one more goal contribution in an excellent campaign, and expectations with the USMNT will be sky high heading into the Copa América.

Stefano Pioli officially exits AC Milan — the USMNT owes him one

The coach was instrumental in the USMNT star’s career-best season

Stefano Pioli’s time as AC Milan manager is over, the club has confirmed.

After five years in charge, Pioli will leave his post following Milan’s last game of the season on Saturday.

Pioli’s time at Milan included some major triumphs, particularly a Serie A title in 2021-22 and a Champions League semifinal berth last season.

But an indifferent 2023-24 campaign has seen Milan opt to move on from the 58-year-old.

“AC Milan extends heartfelt thanks to Stefano Pioli and his entire staff for leading the first team over the past five years, securing an unforgettable league title and re-establishing AC Milan’s consistent presence in the top European competition,” a club statement said.

“Stefano’s professionalism and human touch have significantly contributed to the growth of the squad, embodying the club’s core values ​​from day one.”

From an American standpoint, Pioli did plenty of good in his single season coaching U.S. men’s national team pair Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah.

Pioli trusted Musah with plenty of responsibility in his first season with the club, giving the 21-year-old a prominent role in midfield and even in defense occasionally.

As for Pulisic, the coach was instrumental in helping revitalize the USMNT star. Pulisic has delivered a career-best season, which he has attributed in part to the trust he received from Pioli.

“He has really come through on his promises,” Pulisic told Fox Sports in March. “It’s not just knowing you’re going to play — it’s having someone who really spoke to me before and really wanted me to come in.

“He’s given me an opportunity to go out and be myself the best way I know how, and has fit into what works best for the team.”

Paulo Fonseca is reportedly Milan’s choice to take over, after the Portuguese boss led Lille to fourth place in Ligue 1 this season.

Pulisic was among several AC Milan stars featuring in the campaign to launch the club’s home kit for next season.

Milan will celebrate its 125th anniversary during the 2024-25 campaign, which will see the club return to its trademark pattern of red and black vertical stripes on its home kit.

AC Milan star Pulisic named finalist for Serie A Best Midfielder

The USMNT attacker has earned another accolade in a standout season

Christian Pulisic has been named among three finalists for the 2023-24 Serie A Best Midfielder award

The AC Milan attacker has earned the nomination after an outstanding debut campaign at San Siro. With one game remaining, Pulisic has scored 15 goals in all competitions, 12 of which have come in league play. Both totals are career highs.

Alongside the U.S. men’s national team star, Inter’s Hakan Çalhanoglu and Teun Koopmeiners of Atalanta are also finalists for the title of Serie A’s best midfielder this season.

Çalhanoglu has 13 goals in Serie A for the runaway champions, while Koopmeiners has scored 12 times in the league for fifth-place Atalanta.

Pulisic was also nominated for another award this week, as Serie A named the 25-year-old a finalist for its Player of the Month award for May.

Joining Pulisic in the running are Bremer (Juventus), Riccardo Calafiori (Bologna), Milan Đurić (Monza), Gianluca Scamacca (Atalanta), and Matías Vecino (Lazio).

Should Pulisic win the prize, it would be his second time this season after he was named Serie A Player of the Month for December.
