Al Horford shares video celebrating refurbished basketball court in Dominican Republic

Celtics forward Al Horford took to Instagram to celebrate a newly refurbished basketball court and youth facility in his native Dominican Republic.

Boston Celtics big man Al Horford took to Instagram to celebrate the recent refurbishing of a basketball court in La Romana, a coastal city in his native Dominican Republic. In a caption alongside a posted video detailing the project, Horford explained this was part of the NBA’s 75th-anniversary celebration.

The league helped modernize the court and facility at Club Quisqueya, one of 50 such court renovation projects in Latin America and beyond. “I’m so excited for young people in my home country to play the game and make great memories there for years to come.” Horford said in his Instagram post.

Horford is one of ten Dominican players in NBA history, and this spring became the first to compete for an NBA title. His father, Tito Horford, became the first Dominican-born player when he suited for the Bucks in the ’88-89 season. The younger Horford will reportedly represent his home country in the 2023 FIBA World Cup alongside Karl-Anthony Towns and Chris Duarte.

Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala have fans debating whether Kyrie Irving belongs on the NBA’s 75 greatest players list

Ah, yes. Another Kyrie Irving debate.

Kyrie Irving, regardless of his vaccination status, is one of the best players in today’s NBA. There’s no question about that.

He hit one of the biggest shots we’ll ever seen in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals to win the Cavaliers their first championship. Not to mention he was absolutely spectacular through that entire series.

He’s a seven-time All-Star and might have the best handle we’ve ever seen. You can’t talk about this era of basketball without talking about Kyrie Irving.

But…does he have a space on the NBA’s Top-75 list? Both Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala seem to think so.

Iguodala tweeted that he thought Irving was top 20 (!!!!).

Now, I will say, it’s unclear whether he was talking about today or of all-time, but the mention of the top 75 makes it seem like he means top 20 ever. Which, well, that’s quite the take.

Dragonfly Jonez quoted the tweet and said basketball players love Kyrie Irving more than most and Kevin Durant called him a casual.

Sheesh. That’s how KD reacted to a compliment about Irving. Dude is clearly passionate about where his teammate stands.

Then, boom. Just like that, we’ve got another debate about Kyrie Irving. At least this one was basketball-related, though.

Browns begin stadium décor change for 75th anniversary

It looks like the Browns will make a big deal out of the team’s 75th anniversary, as they should.

The Cleveland Browns will celebrate their 75th anniversary this season. The team hopes that they will give fans more to celebrate on the field but will do all they can to celebrate the franchise’s storied history off the field as well.

Yesterday, we shared the team’s social media tease of some kind of reveal coming in a few weeks. While the assumption is that this is related to a 75th-anniversary uniform, there is no confirmation of what the team is teasing.

With so much history to celebrate, even if very little recent history is worth celebrating outside of the 2020 season, it will be interesting what the team has in store. Legends like Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar and Josh Cribbs have been highly involved with the team for years but could we see a parade of Browns from the past in Cleveland this year?

The team has started some of the decor changes for the upcoming 75th-anniversary celebration on the outside of First Energy Stadium:

With the State of Ohio lifting COVID-19 restrictions, Cleveland should be able to celebrate this season with a myriad of events in and around the stadium. With the NFL draft held between the stadium and lake, the Browns could repurpose the use of that area for some events.

It will be interesting to see what the team has in store to celebrate their 75th anniversary. We now have an early look at some of the signage that will be used in and around the stadium for it.
