49ers 1st-round pick grabs TD in homecoming vs. Cardinals

The 2024 first round pick notched a touchdown catch in Week 18 against the Cardinals.

From the first offensive drive, a connection that has been rolling for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals is the duo of Josh Dobbs and rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

After hitting Pearsall for a big gain early, Dobbs found Pearsall before the end of the half for a touchdown. With time ticking down in the second quarter, Dobbs drilled Pearsall for a six-yard touchdown on third down to tie the game at 17 against the Cardinals.

Prior to spending his final two seasons of college football at Florida, Pearsall spent three seasons in the Pac 12 with Arizona State. Pearsall was born in Phoenix, Arizona and played high school football in Tempe.

Jauan Jennings ejected from Week 18, falls short of 1,000 yards

The fourth-year pass catcher was ejected against the Cardinals after back-to-back unnecessary roughness penalties in the second quarter.

Heading into Week 18, Jauan Jennings had the chance to set a first-time career milestone. With one game left on the schedule, Jennings had a career-best 923 yards receiving, needing only 77 yards in Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals for his first career 1000-yard season.

After an impressive start with a flurry of targets against the Cardinals, the former Tennessee Volunteer will end the season short of 1000 yards receiving.

Following back-to-back unnecessary roughness penalties in a chippy sequence in the second quarter, Jennings was ejected from the game against the Cardinals, ending his season.

Jennings exited the game leading the 49ers in receiving with seven catches for 52 yards on 10 targets from Josh Dobbs against the Cardinals.

Jennings will finish the season with 977 yards receiving to go along with 77 receptions and six touchdowns on a breakout campaign. Jennings set new career-highs for yards, touchdowns and receptions in 2024-25.

As San Francisco readies for its final contest of the season, the 49ers will do so without their starting quarterback. San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy is one of five 49ers players listed “out” on the team’s Week 18 injury report.

With Purdy sidelined, San Francisco will turn to Joshua Dobbs as its starting quarterback in the season finale.
