LSU offers 5-star 2027 QB Colton Nussmeier, brother of Garrett Nussmeier

Could LSU have another Nussmeier under center in a few years?

Depending on where his draft stock goes, the 2024 season could be quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s only one as the starter at LSU.

But even if Nussmeier opts to head to the NFL after this season, that doesn’t mean it will be the last time we see a Nussmeier line up behind center in a Tigers uniform.

On Saturday, the Tigers offered his younger brother, [autotag]Colton Nussmeier[/autotag]. Colton is a 2027 quarterback prospect from Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas) and he’s already one of the most coveted prospects in his class.

The five-star prospect ranks as the No. 11 player nationally, per the 247Sports composite, and his offer list already includes a handful of Power Four programs. Now, the Tigers are adding themselves to the list as they search for a signal-caller in the 2027 cycle.

The younger Nussmeier was one of two elite quarterbacks to pick up an offer from the Tigers over the weekend as they also extended an offer to [autotag]Elijah Haven[/autotag], a Baton Rouge native and the nation’s top signal-caller, on Friday night.

LSU extends offer to the top quarterback in 2027 class

LSU extended an offer to Baton Rouge native Elijah Haven, the top quarterback in the 2027 cycle.

It was only a matter of time before 2027 quarterback [autotag]Elijah Haven[/autotag] picked up his LSU offer. The five-star Baton Rouge native is considered the top QB in his class, according to On3 and 247Sports.

The offer was made official on Friday with LSU QBs coach Joe Sloan making the call.

Haven plays his high school ball at Dunham High and is listed at 6-4, 205 pounds. Given his proximity to LSU, the Tigers are an immediate contender. LSU typically has good luck with Louisiana’s top prospects.

There’s a long way to go in Haven’s recruitment, but if LSU pulls it off, it would continue a trend of top-notch QB recruiting for the Tigers. LSU has a commitment from [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], the top QB and overall recruit in the 2025 class.

Good QB play used to be hard to find at LSU. That trend was bucked in recent years, starting with Joe Burrow’s Heisman campaign in 2019.

Haven took to social media to announce the news.

Haven took a visit to LSU last weekend before [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag] watched Haven’s game on Thursday.

LSU has yet to add anyone to its 2027 class, but a commitment from Haven would be a great centerpiece to build the class around.

LSU hosting 5-star WR Boobie Feaster for South Alabama game

The Tigers will play host to the No. 4 prospect in the 2027 class on Saturday.

When LSU faces South Alabama at Tiger Stadium in Week 5 on Saturday night, it will have a big-time 2027 recruit in town.

According to Marshall Levenson of Rivals, five-star 2027 receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster will take an unofficial visit for the non-conference matchup. Feaster, who hails from DeSoto, Texas, is the No. 4 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite.

Feaster has quite a few high-profile offers, including one from the Tigers. The sophomore is early in his high school career, but he’s already one of the most coveted prospects in the country. LSU currently holds no commitments in the 2027 class.

SMU is currently the slim favorite to land Feaster per the On3 recruiting prediction machine, but it’s still very early in his recruitment with plenty of time for that to change.

LSU hosting No. 1 2027 prospect for UCLA game this weekend

The Tigers will welcome the top player in the 2027 class, Baton Rouge quarterback Elijah Haven, for an unofficial visit this weekend.

While LSU is focusing on putting the finishing touches on its 2025 class and laying the groundwork for the 2026 cycle this fall, it’s also trying to build relationships with recruits who are early in their high school careers.

The Tigers have a commitment from the top quarterback in the 2025 cycle, and now, they’re set to play host to the No. 1 passer and overall player in the 2027 cycle.

[autotag]Elijah Haven[/autotag] hails from right down the street in Baton Rouge, and the Dunham School prospect is set to unofficially visit for the UCLA game this weekend before taking a trip to Alabama the following weekend, per On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

https://twitter.com/SWiltfong_/status/1836760927841980591

Ole Miss is currently considered a slight early favorite to land Haven, per On3’s recruiting prediction machine, but no program has a clear lead for him.

The Tigers will look to change that as they have at least a feasible chance of landing the top player in the nation for three straight cycles as top 2026 prospect [autotag]Jahkeem Stewart[/autotag] also comes from the state of Louisiana.

Louisiana has 2027’s No. 1 overall recruit in updated rankings

The top player in the 2027 is a Louisiana product, giving LSU a good shot.

247Sports dropped its first top 100 recruits for the 2027 class on Wednesday and the top spot belongs to a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, product.

Quarterback [autotag]Elijah Haven[/autotag], out of the Dunham School, sits No. 1 overall. He’s yet to receive an LSU offer, but that will come in due time. Haven visited LSU with his father earlier this year and already has a relationship with LSU QBs coach [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag].

2027 is a ways away and Haven is just a rising sophomore, but the timeline could work out. LSU is set to sign the No. 1 overall player and quarterback this cycle with [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag] committed. Haven would arrive in Baton Rouge just as Underwood was finishing up his career.

At least that’s what LSU fans will hope for.

According to On3, ESPN, and Rivals, the top player in the 2026 class is also from Louisiana in defensive lineman [autotag]Jahkeem Stewart[/autotag]. If Stewart and Haven remain on their current trajectory, Louisiana has a chance to produce the nation’s top player in back-to-back years.

Haven already holds six offers, with a notable one from LSU rival Ole Miss. With a recruit of Haven’s caliber, everyone in the country will want to get involved.

It will be tough, but LSU has good luck with Louisiana’s top players, and the Tigers now have a reputation for producing Heisman quarterbacks.

LSU to host 2027 quarterback prospect for camp this week

Bryce Underwood’s early commitment has allowed LSU to turn its attention to future quarterback recruiting.

LSU already has a five-star quarterback on board in the 2025 cycle in [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], the No. 1 overall player in America. He seems to be solid in his commitment to the Tigers, and the staff is already turning its attention to future signal-caller recruiting.

They recently hosted several top 2026 targets, including five-star [autotag]Dia Bell[/autotag], who committed to Texas on Monday. They remain in the mix for other targets in that cycle like [autotag]Faizon Brandon[/autotag] and [autotag]Brady Hart[/autotag], but LSU is also looking to build a relationship with a player who is entering his sophomore season of high school.

It will host Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport) quarterback [autotag]Peyton Houston[/autotag] for a camp this week. Houston will also be heading to College Station to camp with Texas A&M.

Houston is currently unranked by the major services but has received offers from several top programs including Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Ole Miss.

LSU is not among the teams that have offered him yet, but that could change after it checks out the in-state prospect this week. Texas is currently the slight early favorite according to On3.
