2026 5-star Edge out of Mobile (AL) will attend Texas A&M vs. Texas

One of the top pass rushers in the 2026 recruiting class will attend the Lone Star Showdown

Everything is on the line for Texas A&M (8-3, 5-2 SEC) this weekend, as the Aggies will host No. 3 Texas (10-1, 6-1 SEC) for a spot in the SEC Championship game and a chance at an automatic bid to the College Football Playoff.

Even before Texas A&M’s quadruple overtime loss to Auburn, the return of the Lone Star Showdown always posed as a critical recruiting weekend for both teams, especially the Aggies inside a completely sold-out Kyle Field.

Within the 2026 recruiting class, Rivals’ recruiting insider Landyn Rosow reported that 5-star Edge Anthony “Tank Jones” will attend the game for his third visit this season.

Under head coach Mike Elko, consistent success on the field, especially from a pass rush perspective, requires building through the offensive and defensive trenches. Already building a close relationship with Jones during the season, a win against the Longhorns could potentially seal the deal with the Alabama native.

According to 247Sports, Jones is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 4th-ranked Edge, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Alabama.

No. 19 Texas A&M will host No. 3 Texas on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ABC.

Texas A&M will now reportedly host one of the top defensive prospects in the 2026 recruiting cycle

It’s officially summer, as Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is poised to grow in the coming months. Head coach Mike Elko and his coaching staff are set to host a very long list of talented prospects at nearly every position group over the next two weekends.

With 13 commitments in the 2025 cycle, A&M’s 2026 cycle is currently bare but has the chance to gain momentum. A bevy of future prospects will also descend on College Station, which now includes five-star Edge Anthony Jones out of Mobile, Alabama.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Jones, who has already received nearly 30 offers, is a newcomer to Elko’s visitors list, set to visit on June 15, as the Aggies are smart to get in the running early for one the most talented edge rushers in the country.

Standing at 6-4 and 240 pounds, Jones has been a varsity starter at St. Paul’s Episcopal since his 2022 freshman season. He has racked up 130 tackles, 15 sacks, two interceptions, and three touchdowns on offense. Improving year after year, Jones offers a ton of versatility, possessing the speed and tackling prowess to play at all three linebacker positions.

According to 247Sports, Jones is positioned as the 11th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the No. 1-ranked Edge prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Alabama.
