Tight end Cameron Kossmann commits to Florida football

Following his official visit, Kossmann has committed with the Gators after previously being committed with Penn.

Tight end Cameron Kossmann has committed to the Florida Gators following an official visit this past weekend.

Kossmann was previously committed to Penn in October, but his recruitment gained new momentum last Tuesday when Florida extended an offer to him,

Kossmann, a 6-foot-6-inch, 240-pound tight end out of Marquette Senior High School in Chesterfield, Missouri, paid a visit with Florida on Dec. 20 coordinated by tight ends coach Russ Callaway.

Just a day after he stopped in Gainesville, Kossmann committed to the Gators.

Florida’s 2025 class now boasts 25 verbal commitments, a diverse group of athletes poised to sustain the team’s competitive edge. Among these are high-profile recruits such as five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson and four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III.

The addition of Kossmann complements a Gators recruiting class rich in both skill and potential.

Recruiting summary

Kossmann is ranked as the No. 172 tight end in the 2025 class and the No. 47 recruit in the state of Missouri by 247Sports.

Kossmann initially committed to Columbia on Aug. 12, but decommitted on Sept. 25. He then pledged to Penn on Oct. 24, only once again to reconsider his decision. Ultimately, Kossmann decommitted from Penn and finalized his commitment by signing with Florida on Dec. 23.

5-star WR Dallas Wilson signs with Florida football after flip from Oregon

Highly touted 5-star WR Dallas Wilson had signed with the Gators following a late flip from Oregon.

Highly touted five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson has signed with the Florida Gators, the program announced on Sunday Night.

This move comes shortly after Wilson requested out of his Financial Aid Agreement signing papers with the Oregon Ducks last week and after his visit to Gainesville this past weekend, the receiver decided that he wanted to be a part of the Florida football program.

Wilson, a 6-foot-3-inch talent from Tampa was one of the top recruits in the nation, known for his explosive speed and impressive ball-catching skills. His decision to join the Gators is seen as a major win for Florida head coach Billy Napier and his coaching staff.

With the departures of senior receivers Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike, Florida was looking to add some more depth to the wide receiver room. Wilson’s arrival promises to provide ample depth and talent to this critical group of pass-catchers for quarterback DJ Lagway.

As Wilson prepares to start the next chapter of his collegiate career, Gator Nation is hopeful that his impact will lead to a more dynamic and powerful offense, ready to compete among the best in the SEC.

Recruiting Summary

Wilson, a 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound wide receiver out of Tampa Bay Tech High School in Tampa, had 41 receptions for 677 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games during his senior season this past year.Wilson committed to Oregon on Dec. 4, but decommitted just two weeks later on Dec. 19. Shortly thereafter, he signed with Florida on Dec. 22.

247Sports ranks Wilson as the No. 26 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 4 ranked wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.

5-star WR Dallas Wilson asks out of NLI with Oregon, plans to sign with Florida

The Dallas Wilson recruiting saga took another turn this week, and it looks like the five-star receiver will end up with Florida instead of Oregon.

Things didn’t come together on early signing day between five-star receiver [autotag]Dallas Wilson[/autotag] and the Florida Gators, but the Oregon commit is looking for a release from his financial aid agreement to sign with the Orange and Blue after all.

Wilson’s management group told On3 that the Tampa Bay Tech prospect asked to be released from his financial affidavit on Tuesday, giving Oregon until Thursday to decide. Once the Ducks comply with Wilson’s request, he’ll be free to sign wherever he pleases, and that’s with Florida.

Should all those dominoes fall into place, Wilson will be on campus in Gainesville early alongside DJ Lagway, Eugene Wilson III and Vernell Brown III to lead Florida’s passing game in 2025. Florida also returns several other receivers but has question marks behind Eugene Wilson with Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike out of eligibility.

Dallas Wilson provides a classic deep-threat, big-bodied receiver that Florida has been looking for since Joshua Moore flipped his commitment to Miami earlier in the cycle. It also tames any worries from fans after Florida remained quiet through the first few weeks of the winter transfer period.

The recruiting saga is reminiscent of what happened with Jaden Rashada, who ultimately backed out of his national letter of intent with Florida well after the early signing period. Of course, it’s much nicer to be on the other end of that kind of decision.

Recruiting Summary

Wilson is a five-star recruit, according to both major composite rankings from 247Sports and On3. The 247Sports composite has him at No. 20 overall and No. 4 among receivers in the class of 2025, while the On3 industry ranking ranks him slightly higher at Nos. 19 and 2, respectively.

“Self-assertive wide receiver with the size, hands and speed to emerge as a true impact player for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in an August report. “Launches out of his stance and attacks cushion with conviction before breaking off defensive backs with snappy cuts. Firm 10-inch hands and a 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame give him the advantage more times than not at the catch point and has put a few acrobatic grabs on the highlight reel over the years. …

“Overall, should be viewed as one of the top pass catchers in the 2025 cycle given his big-play capabilities and rare physical features. Must buy into the process at the college of his choice and continue to keep evolving as a player, but has NFL potential.”

Adding Wilson moves Florida into the top 10 of 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings, passing Tennessee by a few points. Both teams could add more players on the February signing date, but Florida has a good chance of finishing in the top 10 with Wilson in the fold.

Florida signs trio of offensive skill players to round out early signing day

Rounding out the offensive signees from Florida’s early signing day haul are a trio of skill players, running back Chad Gasper, receiver Muizz Tounkara and tight end Micah Jones.

Florida added signed a trio of three-star offensive skill position players on early signing day: Katy Jordan (Fulshear, Texas) running back [autotag]Chad Gasper[/autotag], Clear Springs (League City, Texas) wide receiver [autotag]Muizz Tounkara[/autotag] and Madison Central (Mississippi) tight end [autotag]Micah Jones[/autotag].

Gasper has been committed to Florida since May and stuck through the roughest parts of the cycle, shutting things down by August. He dealt with injuries during his senior year, finishing his four-year varsity career with 1,566 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also hauled in 40 catches for 459 receiving yards.

A member of that late string of flips for Florida in November, Tounkara chose the Gators over Arizona nine days out from the early signing period.

Tounkara played four years of varsity with Clear Spring but wasn’t a consistent piece of the offense until his junior year. He leaves high school with 73 catches for 853 yards and seven touchdowns, hauling in at least 30 catches each of his final two seasons. Five of Tounkara’s touchdowns came as a senior.

Both Tounkara and Gasper should be familiar with DJ Lagway as Texas natives.

Jones picked Florida over Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss over the summer and shut down his recruitment for the rest of the year. MSU and Ole Miss both stuck around for a bit being in-state options for Jones, but he was firmly locked in with the Gators, especially once Billy Napier’s return was confirmed.

All three players are expected on campus next month as early enrollees.

Recruiting Summary

RB Chad Gasper

Gasper is a consensus three-star recruit, ranked the highest by Rivals at No. 43 among running backs. The 247Sports composite, which considers all for major recruiting services, puts him at No. 761 overall and No. 58 at his position, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 735 and 58, respectively.

He runs with physicality and can juke a defender in the open field with a single cut, but Gasper has played in a passing offense for most of his career. That should have him decently prepared to pass block and catch balls out of the backfield, which could get him playing time despite being part of a three-player class at his position.

WR Muizz Tounkara

Tounkara is a consensus three-star recruit, ranked the highest by 247Sports at No. 71 among receivers in the class of 2025. The 247Sports composite puts him at No. 788 overall and No. 114 at his position, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 694 and 114, respectively.

“Tall, long, lean, and athletic with a longer stride and corresponding build-up speed that influences field-stretching ability and return game juice,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in a July report. “Experience in all three phases with snaps at corner facing Texas 6A competition in Houston metro. Capable of winning contested throws in traffic thanks to frame, high-pointing acumen, and body control in the air.

“Capable of go-get-it grabs against overmatched high school defenders. Looks tough on tape with willingness to work the middle of the field and affect the screen/perimeter run games as a blocker. Still honing route-running snap/technique, but possesses the twitch to foster consistent late-separating ability and top-of-the-route pop. Arrow points up as senior year looms. Projects to P4 level with physical tools and functional athleticism to become an impact player who possesses ample long-term upside.”

Tounkara has the size that Billy Napier has been looking for at receiver. He’s 6-foot-3.5-inches tall and 195 pounds, which could give him an edge over smaller receivers on the roster when his time comes.

TE Micah Jones

Jones is a consensus three-star recruit, ranked the highest by Rivals at No. 27 among tight ends in the class of 2025. The 247Sports composite puts him at No. 637 overall and No. 33 at his position, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 588 and 31, respectively.

He has good hands for a tight end and is a big-bodied target who can make an impact in short-to-medium-range situations. He could end up being a red-zone threat for the Gators. The run blocking is still developing but there are positive signs there.

Gators add pair of 3-star offensive linemen on early signing day

Florida added three offensive linemen to the program on early signing day. Here’s a closer look at tackle Jahari Medlock and guard Daniel Pierre Louis.

Florida signed a trio of offensive linemen on early signing day, Langston Hughes (Fairburn, Georgia) lineman Tavaris Dice, Charles Drew (Atlanta, Georgia) offensive tackle [autotag]Jahari Medlock[/autotag] and Seminole Ridge (Loxahatchee, Florida) interior lineman [autotag]Daniel Pierre Louis[/autotag], on early signing day.

For more on Dice, check out Gators Wire’s story on him here.

Medlock is a massive offensive tackle, listed at 6-foot-6 and 278 pounds by 247Sports. He initially committed to Cincinnati over the summer but flipped to Florida after a strong pursuit over the fall. His official visit came in October, when Florida beat Kentucky, and returned for the Ole Miss game 10 days out from the early signing period.

Georgia Tech also pushed for Medlock over the fall, but he chose to play in the SEC, citing Florida’s aggressive playstyle as a deciding factor. He made the flip official on Nov. 25 and signed with Florida at 11:45 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

Pierre Louis is another flip for Florida, this one from in-state rival Florida State. A cultural connection with offensive line coach Jonathan DeCoster helped motivate the flip, as did some instability in Tallahassee. Things moved quickly in this relationship. Florida offered in October after seeing him play and he committed by the end of his official visit in November. North Carolina State was also a player in his recruitment.

Billy Napier on Jahari Medlock

“I think Medlock is a freak of nature,” Napier said on early signing day. “He’s 6-5, a heavyweight wrestler, just unique hip, ankle and knee flexibility. The guy can really run. He plays both ways. I’m not so sure he couldn’t play defense. He’s that athletic. But a guy that really came along. Tough, blue-collar family. Yeah, just unique movements for his size. A guy that can play offensive tackle for you.

Billy Napier on Daniel Pierre Louis

“Daniel is really one of the freakier guys,” Napier said on early signing day. “He’s kind of a human forklift. That’s kind of how we describe him. We’ve had a couple guys like him in the past, at Louisiana, but 6-4.25, really long, 35 arm, 84 wing. A really good bender. He’s got good functional movement. Extremely smart, very bright, very knowledgeable about football. He studies players, and then his mom and dad are exceptional. They’re both educated, both high character. He’s made of the right stuff.”

Recruiting Summary

OT Jahari Medlock

A consensus three-star recruit, Jahari Medlock was ranked highest by On3 at No. 34 among offensive tackles in the class of 2025. The 247Sports composite, which considers all four major recruiting services, puts him at No. 761 overall and No. 56 at his position, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 591 and 38, respectively.

Medlock’s size fits the mold that Napier likes at offensive tackle. He has the aggressiveness to succeed in the SEC but could stand to become more explosive as he develops.

IOL Daniel Pierre Louis

Pierre Louis is a consensus three-star recruit, ranked the highest by Rivals at No. 25 among offensive guards in the class of 2025. The 247Sports composite puts him at No. 822 overall and No. 56 among interior linemen (includes centers), while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 765 and 65, respectively.

Another big body to bolster Florida’s offensive line, Pierre Louis has the intelligence and size to develop into a contributing guard in Gainesville. He could end up being the hidden gem of this 2025 offensive line class and be a force in Florida’s run game moving forward. For a near 300-pounder, he’s not that slow and knows how to create leverage with his body. Development is key to success in the SEC.

Florida stocks up on special teamers on early signing day

Kickers and punters are people too, and Billy Napier values that talented group of specialists he added on early signing day.

Specialists are often overlooked in the recruiting cycle, but Billy Napier made sure to replenish Florida’s game-changers unit with the addition of three special teamers.

[autotag]Hayden Craig[/autotag] is coming in to replace punter Jeremy Crawshaw, who is out of eligibility after 2024, and [autotag]Evan Noel[/autotag] is a power leg set to take over the reins once placekicker Trey Smack leaves in 2025. Florida also added an elite long-snapper, [autotag]Mack Mulhern[/autotag], as a preferred walk-on. He’ll get a chance to step into Rocco Underwood’s role after next season.

Craig is the only one of the three specialists who plans on early enrollment. Mulhern and Noel will join the team over the summer.

Billy Napier breaks down specialist signed

“That’s one of the things that probably nobody wants to talk about, but I mean go watch the tape of this Evan Noel guy. This guy’s hitting 62-yarders off the ground. Out here in kicking camp, he had a 62-yarder, and we called time out. We double time outted them out there in the in the Swamp, and he lined up, and piked it right down the middle. I don’t give many elite grades. He’s got an elite grade.

“Obviously, we’re extremely excited about Mack and Hayden. Specialists are a big piece of the puzzle, and we’ve seen the value of those over our time here. Credit Coach (Joe) Houston and Coach (Chris) Couch and Coach Fletch for going out and recruiting some of the best in the country.”

More on Craig

“He’s a lefty and he’s got a — even Crawhsaw stamped him at camp. I asked Crawshaw what he thought and he said that lefty from Maine, from Canada. He’s also a really good kicker. He made a 50-something yarder to win a game for his team this past year. I love his parents. His parents, ton of sacrifice for him to come to the States and play, boarding school. A ton of sacrifice there for that family, what they did. That whole recruitment of specialists is a gantlet, right? So I just think they’re on a mission there to help him.”

Recruiting Summary

K Evan Noel

Noel is the top-ranked kicker in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports standalone list. The 247Sport composite, which considers all four major services, has him at No. 3 among kickers, while the On3 industry ranking has him at No. 1.

Kohl’s Professional Camps, which focuses on special teamers, gives Noel a five-star rating and ranks him No. 2 in the class.

“If I went there I would have to sit behind Trey for a year, or at least be in a position battle with him my first year,” Noel said when he flipped from Arkansas. “They wanted to get a kicker they liked a lot this cycle, which is me. Have me there to get developed, learn from Trey and the coaches, and then be ready to go the next year.”

P Hayden Craig

The 247Sports composite lists Craig as the fifth-best punter in the class of 2025, and On3 has him at No. 7. Craig primarily played hockey until a few years ago, but he has impressed with his leg since hitting the gridiron.

“Craig competed at Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp in July of 2024. He scored well in all areas,” according to Kohl’s. “He scored 104.9 points in punting, 24/36 points on field goals, and 107.5 points on kickoffs. He also scored 18 points on rollout punts. His athleticism and upside is as high as anyone in the 2025 class.”

LS Mack Mulhern (PWO)

Of the four major recruiting services, On3 is the only one that has an evaluation of Mulhern. He ranks 10th among long snappers in the class, but Kohl’s has him down as the No. 2 player at the position.

“Mulhern has been one of the best snappers in America at every Kohl’s Snapping Camp he competes at,” according to Kohl’s comments. “He has the rare ability to be violent with his snapping motion but stay under control on his finish. While at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp, Mulhern scored on all 20 of his charted long snaps and finished with the 2nd-highest overall score in the 2025 class. He has some of the fastest hands in the country and consistently snaps in the .66-.68 second range.”

CBS Sports thinks Napier, Gators were winners on early signing day

247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins included Florida among his winners from the 2024 early signing day bonanza.

Florida football got off to a fantastic start to the early signing period on Wednesday, officially welcoming a new gaggle of Gators to the beloved Orange and Blue while rising meteorically up the recruiting rankings.

The action began early with five commits putting the ink to the paper before the 8 o’clock bells chimed. In all, 23 young men signed up to matriculate and play at the University of Florida by the end of the day.

After the dust settled from the opening salvo of the early signing period, 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins offered his winners and losers via CBS Sports, with the Gators included in the former group while ranking the class at No. 10.

“The DJ Lagway effect is real and Florida’s recruiting class going from outside the top 50 of the rankings to knocking on the door of the top 10 in just a few weeks is proof that momentum matters when it comes to talent acquisition,” Ivins begins.

“No, Billy Napier and Co. were not able to grab everyone, but this day shouldn’t be viewed as anything other than a win. Remember, this time last year the Gators tumbled in the recruiting rankings as everyone questioned Napier’s future. Lagway’s play to close out the regular season has helped flip the script.”

Other schools that earned the “winner” designation were the Texas LonghornsOregon Ducks, South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Texas A&M Aggies. The “losers” comprised the Clemson Tigers, USC Trojans and Oklahoma Sooners.

ESPN lists Florida football among winners on early signing day

ESPN anoints the Gators as winners on Wednesday after an impressive early signing day effort by Billy Napier and Co.

Florida football caught fire on early signing day, completing several flips while corralling an impressive 2025 cycle haul. The Gators have surged both on and off the field this past month, and seeing their efforts pay off on the recruiting front carries the sweetness of success.

Unsurprisingly, the sports media was impressed with what they saw from the Orange and Blue on Wednesday including ESPN’s Eli Lederman, who penned his winners, questions and takeaways column. Florida was featured in the first category.

“The Gators have charted the hottest finish to the 2025 cycle of any program across the country, securing 13 commitments since Billy Napier’s future was settled on Nov. 7, including seven from the ESPN 300,” Lederman begins.

“Napier and Florida signed ESPN 300 safeties Hylton Stubbs (Miami flip) and Lagonza Hayward Jr. (former Tennessee pledge) to fortify the back end of a defensive class that already features top inside linebacker Ty Jackson, four-star cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. and three top-300 defensive lineman, led by four-star edge Jalen Wiggins,” he continues.

“The Gators missed on flipping Oregon wide receiver pledge Dallas Wilson, but there’s pass-catching talent coming through to help quarterback D.J. Lagway in four-star wide receiver signees Vernell Brown III and Naeshaun Montgomery. And in Auburn offensive tackle flip Tavaris Dice and Florida State running back flip Byron Louis, Florida signed reinforcements in the run game, as well,” he notes.

“A strong close to the regular season has coincided with a forceful late push in the 2025 cycle from the Gators. Napier’s latest class appears to be another piece in the foundation of a turnaround at Florida.”

Other schools that earned the “winner” designation were the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies and Arkansas Razorbacks. The “schools that still have issues” comprised the LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes and USC Trojans.

Florida an early signing day winner per USA TODAY Sports

There is no doubt the Gators were winners on Wednesday!

Florida football scored big on early signing day, hauling in a plethora of signatures as the Gators officially welcomed the first members of the 2025 recruiting class.

Billy Napier and Co.’s efforts of late had catapulted the Orange and Blue up the team recruiting rankings for the cycle, and after Wednesday’s events, they found themselves ranked No. 11 on 247Sports’ big board.

On Thursday, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg submitted his “winners and losers” column, in which Florida was included among the former category.

“Florida’s recruiting efforts began to turn with the announcement in November that coach Billy Napier would return for his fourth season. Now, thanks to several key flips and holds leading into Wednesday, the Gators are locked into a top-15 class,” Myerberg begins.

“The late wins include keeping wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery, flipping safety Hylton Stubbs from Miami, nabbing former Florida State running back commitment Byron Louis and reeling back in four-star defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou, who dropped the Gators in late October but was drawn back to Gainesville by Florida’s strong close to the regular season.”
