LSU women’s basketball picks up commitment from top player in Louisiana

Kim Mulkey continues to build a machine in Baton Rouge.

LSU just won its first national championship in women’s basketball, and the program is showing no signs of slowing down under coach [autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag].

The Tigers signed the best recruiting class in the nation in 2023, and LSU just landed the first commitment for its 2024 class, point guard [autotag]Jada Richard[/autotag]. She is the top prospect in the state according to the Louisiana girls rankings.

The 5-foot-7 Lafayette Christian Academy prospect isn’t ranked nationally, but she held offers from power conference programs such as Ole Miss and Arizona State. With her commitment, Mulkey has landed Louisiana’s No. 1 prospect in back-to-back classes.

With the Tigers set to return much of their 2022-23 team and add even more talent, this team should clearly be one of the early national title favorites next season, too. If Mulkey can continue to restock with players like Richard, the ceiling will remain as high as it is right now.
