When was the Liberty’s last WNBA Finals appearance?

Here’s the last time the New York Liberty went to the WNBA Finals.

After defeating the Las Vegas Aces in four games, the New York Liberty are in the WNBA Finals. However, you might wonder when the Liberty last made a Finals appearance.

Here’s the answer: It was just last season, and they played *checks notes* the Aces.

That’s right. The team New York eliminated during this year’s semifinals was the same team that edged out the Liberty in 2023 for a WNBA championship. It likely explains why the Liberty trolled the Aces after winning with a pair of Timberland boots on Vegas’ home court logo. New York did not forget about the Aces celebrating a championship on its floor.

Here’s a look at Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu discussing what it means to return to the WNBA Finals and what it took to get there.
