Will we see an uptick in intensity from the Boston Celtics in Game 2 vs. the Miami Heat?

In Game 1 of their NBA Eastern Conference first round series, the Heat were especially physical. Will they again?

Will we see an uptick in intensity from the Boston Celtics in Game 2 vs. the Miami Heat on Wednesday (April 24)? In Game 1 of their NBA Eastern Conference first round series, the Heat were especially physical, including a moving screen from Heat big man Bam Adebayo and a questionable attempt by Miami wing Caleb Martin to attack the cup.

The former sent Boston guard Derrick White sprawling, and the latter nearly hurt star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum. That both escaped relatively unscathed is a miracle. That a fight did not break out is even more impressive for both ball clubs.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, did their best to try to project the mood for Game 2 on a recent episode. Check it out below!

Is there bad blood between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat?

The two Eastern Conference rivals have been going at it in the postseason for years.

Is there bad blood between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat? The two Eastern Conference rivals have been going at it in the postseason for years now in recent NBA history. And they have done so ever since LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were battling Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce for supremacy in the East.

Chippy play was the hallmark of the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals that saw the Heat beat the Celtics. And in Game 1 of their 2024 first round series, some questionable plays by Caleb Martin and Bam Adebayo has revived chatter on Miami’s hyperphysical playing style.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “The Big Three NBA” podcast, A. Sherrod Blakely, Gary Washburn, and Kwani Lunis, took a closer look on a recent episode. Check it out below!

Heat looking to thrive with underdog mentality vs. Celtics

The Miami Heat are still confident they can defeat the Boston Celtics, despite missing their star player.

The Miami Heat are in unchartered territory. They’re the underdogs for their first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Jimmy Butler is expected to miss the entire series after suffering an MCL sprain when facing the Philadelphia 76ers on April 16. Terry Rozier is dealing with a neck injury, and Josh Richardson has shoulder issues.

As such, the Heat are undermanned and outgunned. Boston is arguably the most talented team in the NBA. They ran through the Eastern Conference during the regular season. Nevertheless, All-Star big man Bam Adebayo believes the Heat are still capable of causing an upset and sending the Celtics home for the second straight season.

“They’re going to look at us and be like, `We can’t win because we don’t have Jimmy (Butler),”‘ Adebayo said. “At the end of the day, you’ve got to play the game. You’ve got to go out there and compete … We know we’re going into the game with people doubting us, people not believing in us. The guys in that locker room believe. As long as the guys in the locker room and the coaching staff believe, we always got a chance.”

Miami will face the Celtics on Wednesday (April 24), in the second game of their best-of-seven series. A loss would put them in a precarious situation where they would need to win at least one of their upcoming games at the Kaseya Center.

Boston is set on contending for a championship this season. They will see a wounded Heat team and want to finish them off as quickly as possible, after all, a difficult matchup will await in the second round.

How will the Boston Celtics respond to Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin’s hard foul?

Will we see more of these sorts of tense moments in Game 2?

How will the Boston Celtics respond to Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin’s hard foul on star Celtics swingman Jayson Tatum in Game 1 of their first round series? Both ball clubs decided that they wanted to move on from the chippy incident in Game 1’s final moments.

And star Boston forward Jaylen Brown sent a loud warning to Martin to watch those kinds of plays with the Celtics moving forward. With Boston’s players excited about matching the Heat’s physicality on the basketball court, will we see more of these sorts of tense moments in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first round series?

CLNS Media reporters Bobby Manning and Josue Pavon discussed the reaction by the Celtics and Heat at Boston’s most recent practice after Martin laid a hard foul on Tatum. Check it out below!

What should the Celtics watch out for in game two against the Heat?

The Boston Celtics must expect a different version of the Miami Heat when the two teams face off on Wednesday (April 24).

The Boston Celtics won the opening game of their first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat. Erik Spoelstra will undoubtedly look for ways to improve his team’s defensive performance and stifle Boston’s electric perimeter-based offense. However, Miami’s chances of success will continue to be slim due to Jimmy Butler’s absence.

In the latest episode of the ‘Green With Envy’ podcast, the hosts discussed the potential ways Miami will look to adjust its game plan to limit Boston’s effectiveness on both sides of the floor. Most of the discussion focused on how the Celtics must continue to nullify Tyler Herro as an on-ball creator.

Without Terry Rozier and Josh Richardson, who are both injured, the Heat are short on ball-handlers and playmakers. If the Celtics can shut Herro down for significant stretches of the game, it’s hard to see how the Heat could overcome that throughout the course of a series.

The Boston Celtics are ready to match the Miami Heat’s physicality in Game 2

Just how chippy will Game 2 get?

The Boston Celtics are eager to match the Miami Heat‘s physicality in Game 2 of their first round 2024 Eastern Conference Playoffs on Wednesday (April 24). And after Caleb Martin undercutting Jayson Tatum dangerously and Bam Adebayo sending Derrick White sprawling with a questionable scree, they should be.

In the latest edition of the CLNS Media “Celts of the Roundtable” podcast, the group discusses the Boston Celtics’ eagerness to match the Miami Heat’s physicality. This of course includes Caleb Martin’s play on Jayson Tatum and Bam Adebayo’s questionable screens.

Are the Miami Heat playing dirty vs. the Boston Celtics?

There has been a ton of debate over whether the Miami Heat play dirty to win when the odds are stacked against them.

There has been a ton of debate over whether the Miami Heat play dirty to win when the odds are stacked against them, as was the case when facing the Boston Celtics at TD Garden for Game 1 of their 2024 first round series.

And while, in a vacuum, the play that saw Miami wing Caleb Martin undercut Boston’s Jayson Tatum at the end of that tilt was just a hard foul, other incidents (such as Heat big man putting a decent amount of special sauce into his slightly-moving screen) taken collectively hint that Miami might be leaning into some unsportsmanlike play.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, shared their take on what they saw in Game 1. Check it out below for yourself.

Jayson Tatum’s passing helps the Boston Celtics beat the Miami Heat in Game 1

The Celtics had some bad memories to erase from the last time they faced the Heat.

The Boston Celtics had some bad memories to erase from the last time they faced the Miami Heat in Sunday afternoon’s Game 1 tilt. Shaking off the shame of having been sent home from the postseason by the Heat seemed a fairly easy task once Boston dialed down on defense, jumping out to a big lead early and never looking back.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” and “Talkin’ Cs” podcasts, Jack Simone, Sam LaFrance, and Bobby Krivitsky, took a closer look at Jayson Tatum’s performance in the Celtics’ Game 1 win over the Heat, the Celtics’ great defense, and other points from the victory.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

The Boston Celtics were destined to play the Miami Heat in the first round

The Celtics likely hoped to avoid the Heat altogether in the 2024 NBA Playoffs due to their physicality and shared history.

The Boston Celtics likely hoped to avoid the Miami Heat altogether in the 2024 NBA Playoffs due to their physicality and shared history. Yet, the Celtics find themselves squaring off with the same ball club that sent them fishing in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals — and here we are against talking about Miami’s overzealous physicality.

It seems that the Celtics were destined to play the Heat, even if Miami will have to do so without the services of veteran forward Jimmy Butler as he recovered from an MCL sprain. It seems likely he won’t be back at any point in this round — do the Heat stand a chance without him?

The cohost of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast, Evan Valenti, linked up with the cohost of the CLNS “Garden Report” podcast, Josue Pavon, to talk it over on a recent episode. Check it out below!
