Bronny James among 78 NBA draft prospects invited to combine

Former USC Trojans guard Bronny James is among the 78 players invited to the 2024 NBA draft combine.

Former USC Trojans point guard Bronny James is among the 78 players invited to the 2024 NBA draft combine, which will take place May 12-19 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Prospects are invited based on a vote by team executives, with the list representing an indication of which players have the best odds of being drafted or signed as undrafted free agents.

The event will feature live scrimmages as well as strength and agility testing, shooting drills, measurements, and provides a big time opportunity for prospects to either raise – or lower – their stock ahead of the NBA draft on June 27.

James is the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, and while his performance on the court at USC last season doesn’t look NBA worthy, he was a highly regarded prospect out of high school and could get looks from GMs late in the second round – even after reports made it clear LeBron is no longer pushing to play with his son next season.

Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists last year in 25 games for USC, missing the start of the season while recovering from cardiac arrest suffered over the summer. He shot just 48.1% on two pointers and 26.7% from beyond the arc, while converting 67.6% of the time at the free throw line.

The 6’3 guard also entered the NCAA transfer portal at the conclusion of the season, so if he opts not to stay in the NBA draft process and wants to return to school – he has the option to find a new home.

Speculation that Bronny could go play for Duquesne, where his dad’s old teammate Dru Joyce is head coach, could gain further traction if Bronny ultimately pulls out of the NBA draft process.

Bronny James invited to NBA draft combine as he weighs options

Bronny James will get the chance to show more to NBA scouts after starting just six games as a freshman at USC.

Former USC men’s basketball guard Bronny James — son of LeBron James — has some big decisions to make this offseason. He at least got one piece of clarity on Friday, though.

James was one of 78 players invited to the 2024 NBA draft combine, which will be held May 13-19 in Chicago.

After his freshman season with the Trojans, James opted to enter the transfer portal. However, he also declared for the draft while retaining the option to return to college basketball.

James isn’t considered one of the draft’s top prospects. A former four-star prospect and top-30 recruit nationally, James missed the beginning of his freshman season after suffering a cardiac arrest in July.

He made his return to the court less than three months later and was a role player for a USC team that finished 15-18 and saw coach Andy Enfield leave for the SMU job. James appeared in 25 games this past season, starting six and averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Where James will return to college basketball or head to the NBA — where he could potentially team up with his father — remains to be seen. But James will have the chance to show off in front of NBA scouts after averaging fewer than 20 minutes per game as a freshman.

Former USC guard Bronny James was among the 78 players invited to participate in the 2024 NBA draft combine May 12-19 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

The prospects invited were voted on this week by team executives. The list of players typically indicates those with the highest odds of being drafted or signed as undrafted free agents with teams after the festivities conclude on June 27.

The event will feature 5-on-5 games, strength and agility testing, shooting drills, measurements and other related on-court exercises. Prospects will have the opportunity to improve their draft stock in a competitive environment against their peers.

The league also unveiled the consensus top 10 prospects voted on by teams. They were placed into tiers to determine who their medical information, biomechanical testing and functional movement information will be shared with, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The combine this year marks the first time prospects will be required to participate in drills and scrimmages, as outlined in the new collective bargaining agreement. Prospects can be ruled ineligible to be drafted if they skip certain portions of it without sufficient reasoning.

The number of prospects at the combine will expand to include a select number of standouts from the G League Elite Camp, which will take place May 10-11 at the Wintrust Arena.

All-ACC center PJ Hall to enter 2024 NBA draft, forgo eligibility

Hall was one of nine players in the country to average at least 18 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block this season.

Clemson senior PJ Hall announced Friday on Instagram that he has entered the 2024 NBA draft and will forgo his last year of remaining college eligibility.

Hall was named to the All-ACC first team after averaging 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocks on 48.8% shooting from the field in 36 games. He was one of nine players in the country to average at least 18 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block.

The 6-foot-10 center will leave Clemson ranked 10th on the all-time scoring list (1,702). He is one of four players in program history to tally at least 1,600 career points, 600 rebounds and 100 blocks.

Hall tested the predraft process last year and emerged as one of the top performers at the G League Elite Camp and draft combine in Chicago, Illinois. He ultimately opted to return to school for one more season to improve his skill set.

The decision to stay at Clemson resulted in his best season in college. He scored in double figures in every game but one and registered 14 20-point games, including a season-high 31 points and 17 rebounds on Jan. 16, to lead the Tigers to the Elite Eight.

Hall will once again have the opportunity to improve his draft positioning in team workouts and interviews. He is considered a potential second-round pick and projects to step in at the next level and provide scoring and rebounding, given his mobility and athleticism.

The 2024 NBA draft will take place June 26-27 in New York City.

Clemson star PJ Hall declares for the 2024 NBA draft

Clemson star PJ Hall declares for the draft.

Clemson men’s basketball is losing arguably their best player to the 2024 NBA draft.

Clemson center PJ Hall is entering the draft after four seasons with the program. His impact on this program has been tremendous, with Clemson seeing some of its best seasons with Hall on the roster.

“For four years, I poured absolutely everything I had into Clemson,” Hall said. “I wouldn’t change one thing about my career. With that being said, I will be chasing my dream and entering my name into the NBA draft.

“Four years ago, I made what I know now to be one of the best decisions of my life — to be a Clemson Tiger. These last four years, God blessed me with such an incredible school, team, coaching staff, and fan base. I can’t thank him enough for doing so. Without Jesus, none of this would have been possible.”

“I want to specifically thank all of my teammates and coaches for believing in me throughout my entire career. You all helped propel me to where I stand today, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished together.”

During his career with the Tigers, Hall earned All-ACC honors two times. As a senior, he averaged 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. In his career, he averaged 14.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Are the San Antonio Spurs going to draft Rob Dillingham?

Are the San Antonio Spurs going to draft Rob Dillingham in the 2024 NBA Draft?

The San Antonio Spurs have a chance to add a top-tier talent to their young core in the 2024 NBA Draft. They will have a top pick, and bringing in another young star to pair with Victor Wembanyama should be a top priority. One guy who they have been connected to fairly heavily is Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham.

According to LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, Dillingham has made it clear to other teams that he wants to go to San Antonio. In addition, the Spurs are reportedly going to draft Dillingham with their top pick regardless of where their selection lands, as they are very high on him.

The CLAN the SPURS fan YouTube channel recently discussed this, going over whether or not San Antonio will draft Dillingham, as well as some thoughts on the matter.

In 32 games for the Wildcats this summer, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 47.5% from the field and 44.4% from behind the three-point line.

Report: Robert Dillingham telling teams he prefers to go to Spurs

According to a recent report, Kentuckuy gurad Rob Dillingham has made it clear that he wants to go to the San Antonio Spurs.

As the 2024 NBA Draft inches closer, the San Antonio Spurs are going to have to make some important decisions. However, it looks as though one potential prospect selection has distinguished himself from the rest. According to LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, Rob Dillingham has made it clear to other teams that he wants to go to San Antonio, and the Spurs are likely to select him with their pick if he’s available.

“Dillingham’s camp is telling anyone who will listen that his preferred landing spot is in San Antonio,” Ellis wrote. “Multiple scouts have told me it’d be surprising if the Spurs pass on Dillingham due his seamless fit next to Victor Wembanyama. ‘If [Dillingham] is on the board, I’m convinced the Spurs pick him — even with the first pick,” a scout for a Western Conference team told me.'”

Adding a guy like Dillingham to the roster would give the Spurs a huge boost in the shot-creation department, as well as a top-notch ball-handler.

The duo of Dillingham and Victor Wembanyama would immediately be one of the best young tandems in the NBA.

Should the Chicago Bulls consider drafting Purdue center Zach Edey?

Is Purdue center Zach Edey a good 2024 NBA Draft target for the Chicago Bulls?

This offseason will be an important one for the Chicago Bulls as they try to reshape the roster. Trading Zach LaVine is reportedly still their top priority, but they should be trying to do anything they can to fix their future. Arturas Karnisovas has already admitted that their current core isn’t working, so a shake-up should be imminent.

While the trade market and free agency will be important for Chicago, the 2024 NBA Draft will also be a huge chance for them to add new talent. More specifically, it will give them an opportunity to add to their young core, which is now highlighted by point guard Coby White, who just finished second in Most Improved Player voting.

A recent mock draft had the Bulls picking Purdue big man Zach Edey, and the Bulls Digest YouTube channel discussed the idea in a video.

Adding Edey to the mix could be an intriguing idea, considering how unsure people are of what he will be at the NBA level. High-risk, high-reward?
