1 photo of a despondent Tiger Woods spotted on cart after withdrawing from Genesis Invitational summed it all up

Tiger Woods’ expression after withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational said it all.

Tiger Woods’ highly publicized return to professional golf ended in disappointing fashion Friday evening.

Woods was participating in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, in what was his first appearance in a PGA Tour event since withdrawing from last year’s Masters.

Unfortunately, he was forced to withdraw during his second round on Friday due to a reported illness, and one picture of an emotional Woods on a golf cart following his withdrawal told the whole story.

Woods buried his head in his hands, and his frustration was visible after having to withdraw from what was his first tour start in nearly a year.

Woods was reportedly also dealing with back spasms during the Round 1 on Thursday, though he managed to complete the round.

Since his shocking Masters win in 2019, Woods has battled injuries and has undergone several back surgeries. He was seriously injured in a car accident in February 2021 but made an improbable return to the sport.

He has struggled to stay healthy since, however, and we’ll have to hope what Woods is dealing with is no more serious than an illness.

Tiger Woods withdrew from the 2024 Genesis Invitational and golf fans were worried

Get well soon, Tiger.

It was the sight that had so many golf fans saddened: Tiger Woods, coming back to the clubhouse during the second round of the Genesis Invitational, (which is the tournament that he hosts), in a golf cart.

Clearly, it was a sign something was amiss, and fans immediately speculated about his back or his knees.

Officially, it was neither of those: He had an illness, per PGA Tour Communications. But either way, fans were bummed but they hoped he would get well soon.

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the immediate reaction on Friday, just after he shot a 1-over on Thursday:
