Scottie Scheffler is 5th golfer to surpass $70 million in all-time PGA Tour money

There’s winning, and then there’s winning at the right time. Scheffler is doing both.

Scottie Scheffler earned his 12th PGA Tour win Sunday at the 2024 Travelers Championship, his sixth just this season. In a quirk of scheduling or timing or both, it’s his second victory after the month of April in his career.

Regardless, a win is a win is a win, and Scheffler now has six this year, the first to win that many times in one season since Tiger Woods 15 years ago.

What’s more, it’s yet another signature event victory, which means elevated first-place cash. This Travelers win was good for $3.6 million and brings his career on-course earnings on the PGA Tour to $70,262,087.

His win in April at the Masters moved him into 10th all-time. Two weeks ago at the Memorial, his victory has leapfrogged him past Justin Rose and Adam Scott into the No. 7 slot. Now, he’s No. 5 all-time in career money earned on Tour.

His 12 wins include two Masters, two Players (the richest event on the PGA Tour), two Arnold Palmer Invitationals, two WM Phoenix Opens (one of which was a signature event) as well as a Match Play, an RBC Heritage, a Memorial and now a Travelers.

It’s the third consecutive season that Scheffler set the record for most official money ($14,046,910 in 2021-22; $21,014,342 in 2022-23).

Scottie Scheffler’s 12 PGA Tour wins

Scheffler is one of 16 players in the history of the PGA Tour to reach the $50 million plateau in on-course earnings.

Scottie Scheffler raises the bar yet again on list of most money earned in single season on PGA Tour

Prize money on the PGA Tour has exploded over the last several years.

There can be a lot of money won playing professional tournament golf, especially on the PGA Tour and especially in the last two decades. And especially in the last two seasons.

Prize money has exploded on the circuit thanks to the signature events as well as the four majors boosting their purses.

Because of the influx of cash, four of the top five single-seasons for money earned happened during the 2022-23 season. One golfer has set a record for three years in a row. And Tiger Woods’ 2005 season ($10,628,024) is now not in the top 10.

Note: This list does not count bonus money awarded at the PGA Tour’s Tour Championship.

U.S. Open future sites through 2051

Many of the country’s most venerable venues are on tap to host.

Pinehurst No. 2 is in the rear view mirror, but don’t worry. There are a few more U.S. Open’s already scheduled for the venue.

Up next: Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Oakmont has hosted nine times already (1927, 1935, 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983, 1994, 2007, 2016), and in 2025 the 125th U.S. Open will be the venue’s 10th.

The USGA has declared Oakmont is a second “anchor site” for future national championships. The course also was already awarded dates in 2034, 2042 and 2049.

This is a closer look at the upcoming roster of golf courses set to host the national championship.

U.S. Women’s Open future sites through 2048

The USGA has 18 future U.S. Women’s Open locations scheduled.

The U.S. Women’s Open had another smashing success at Lancaster Country Club.

Now, the countdown is on for the USGA’s national championship in 2025.

The 80th USWO will be contested at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin.

In all, the U.S. Golf Association has announced 18 future U.S. Women’s Open locations through 2048, although but there are several years with locations still to be announced.

Check out this list of future stops, which includes the first-ever trip to Riviera in the very near future.

PGA Championship future sites: Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte to host in 2025

The PGA of America has most of its PGA Championships scheduled out through 2034.

The PGA of America has most of its PGA Championships scheduled out through the next decade.

The sites for 2032 and 2033 are still to be determined but there are eight championships – at seven different venues – on the docket through 2034.

Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte is set to host the 2025 championship, the second time the venue has hosted. In 2017, Justin Thomas won the first of his two PGAs at Quail Hollow. It’ll be the 107th PGA Championship.

Here are the future sites of the PGA Championship.

PGA Championship: Ranking every winner by number of titles

There have been numerous stellar champions to lift the Wanamaker.

Winning the PGA Championship can be a life changer for any golfer.

A lifetime exemption into the major. A five-year PGA Tour exemption. Add in exemptions into the other majors, it’s a chance for golfers to propel their career and play on some of golf’s biggest stages.

The PGA Championship began in 1916, and from then until 1957 was contested in a match-play format. The tournament switched to stroke play in 1958. And even with the long history of the championship, only five golfers have won three or more Wanamaker Trophies.
