Best of new San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Ingram

The Texas native put up 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and as many blocks per game with UNC in 2023-24.

The San Antonio Spurs have wrapped up their work trying to find prospects who fit next to star Spurs forward Voctor Wembanyama in the 2024 NBA draft by taking University of North Carolina small forward Harrison Ingram with the 48th overall pick.

Standing at just under 6-foot-7 with a wing span that is over 7 feet wide and weighing in at over 230 lbs., Ingram is a solid defender who pulls down boards at a high clip. He can shoot from deep at a solid rate as well (38.5%), but his free throw rate (61.2%) hints that might not be so efficient for him at the NBA level.

The Texas native put up 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and as many blocks per game with UNC in 2023-24.

The best of new San Antonio guard Juan Nunez

The Madrid native averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for Ratiopharm Ulm.

The San Antonio Spurs have used the first of their two second round picks in the 2024 NBA draft to trade back from No. 35 overall to No. 36, picking up the Indiana Pacers’ selection and cash considerations to take Ratiopharm Ulm guard Juan Nunez.

Nunez, a 6-foot-5, 200-lb. point guard with room to develop at just 20 years old, is a solid ball mover and pickpocket who is still raw, fouling and turning the ball over more than you’d like. But the measurables and passing vision are solid building blocks for a potential backup floor general who could turn into a steal if he can improve on his poor 3-point shooting.

The Madrid native averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, and if you would like to see more of his game in action, we have included a highlight tape from the “No Ceilings” YouTube channel.

San Antonio selects UK’s Rob Dillingham to trade to Minnesota Timberwolves

However, in a twist, the Spurs are sending Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves for draft assets.

The San Antonio Spurs have made their second pick of the 2024 NBA draft, following up their No. 4 pick of University of Connecticut guard Stephon Castle. With their No. 8 overall pick of the draft, San Antonio has selected University of Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham.

However, in a twist, the Spurs are sending Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a 2031 unprotected first round pick and a 2030 pick swap (top 1 protected) to the Spurs for Dillingham. It remains unclear whether San Antonio will use some of those draft assets to land a player via trade in the near-term future, but it seems likely that San Antonio will be looking to use at least some draft assets to add to the team this summer.

The Spurs still have a pair of second round picks to use when that section of the draft kicks off tomorrow on Thursday (June 26) afternoon at Nos. 35 and 48 as well.

A final stab at who the San Antonio Spurs might take in the 2024 NBA draft

Armed with two lottery picks at Nos. 4 and 8 overall, the Spurs are poised to make noise in the first round. But that’s not all they’ll pick!

As the 2024 NBA draft is nearly upon us, the San Antonio Spurs‘ front office and fans and analysts of the team are running out of time to guess who the Spurs will take with all four of their selections in this year’s draft.

Armed with two lottery picks in the ’24 draft at Nos. 4 and 8 overall, the Spurs are poised to make some noise in the first round. But that is not where their drafting will cease, with San Antonio also controlling a pair of picks in the second round as well. Those picks, at Nos. 35 and 48, could also be used to bring in some developmental projects or limited role players to help the Spurs’ rebuilding efforts as well.

The host of the “Locked On Spurs” podcast, Jeff Garcia, sat down with guest Jack Thompson, formerly with San Antonio Sports Star, to try to prognosticate the picks.

What sort of rumors are we hearing about the San Antonio Spurs’ draft plans?

There’s a chance they simply trade the picks for an established player or two, depending on the offers they hear.

What sort of rumors are we hearing about the San Antonio Spurs‘ draft plans just hours ahead of the event? The only sure thing we know for certain about the team is that San Antonio’s front office has big plans to add the sort of talent around rising star Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama to speed up the team’s current rebuild.

Does that mean that they will use their two lottery picks in the 2024 NBA draft at Nos. 4 and 8 on taking the players they deem best at those spots? Or might they trade up or even out of this draft for higher-value picks?

There’s even a chance they simply trade the picks for an established player or two, depending on the offers they hear.

The folks behind the “TSR Sports” YouTube channel put together an update on the latest chatter they are hearing. Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.

Talking San Antonio Spurs options on NBA draft 2024 Eve

With Wemby ready to compete at the highest levels ahead of even ambitious predictions, it’s clear that a shift is needed for San Antonio.

The 2024 NBA draft is nearly upon us, and the San Antonio Spurs’ front office is armed with a pair of lottery picks they can use to add talent to the roster that is an ideal fit for their rising star forward, Victor Wembanyama.

There are a lot of ways that the Spurs could do so using their Nos. 4 and 8 picks in the ’24 draft. They could of course simply draft away with both picks where they are, combine them to move up, add more picks to their war chest by trading back, or even use one or both picks to bring on an established player or two via trade.

With star Spurs Victor Wembanyama looking ready to compete at the highest levels ahead of even ambitious predictions, it’s clear that a shift is needed for San Antonio.

The host of the “Locked On Spurs” podcast, Jeff Garcia, dug in deep to all things draft the night before the big event with his guest, San Antonio Sports Star’s James Pledger.

Should the San Antonio Spurs take Colorado forward Cody Williams in the 2024 NBA draft?

A lethal shot from beyond the arc with impressive physical gifts, the Arizona native is still fairly raw elsewhere.

Should the San Antonio Spurs take University of Colorado small forward Cody Williams in the 2024 NBA draft? A 6-foot-8 swingman with a 7-foot-1 wing span, Williams is 19 years old and weighs in at a slight 180 lbs.

A lethal shot from beyond the arc with impressive physical gifts, the Arizona native is still fairly raw elsewhere in his play, which is not all that unusual at his age. His rebounding in particular stands out as an area he could make strides in with some help, and could have a high ceiling if the rest of his game comes together.

The host of the “Locked On Spurs” podcast, Jeff Garcia, recently took some time to sit down with guest Jack Thompson, formerly with San Antonio Sports Star, to break down his potential with the Spurs as a potential fit for their No. 8 overall pick of the ’24 draft.

As the 2024 NBA draft draws near, what are we hearing about the San Antonio Spurs’ plans?

Could the Spurs up in the draft, or out of it entirely to use one or even both picks to bring in an established player via trade?

The 2024 NBA draft is nearly upon us, with the San Antonio Spurs the sole team in the league that controls multiple picks in the 2024 NBA draft lottery. Ahead of the big event, a number of rumors and a mountain of speculation continues to swirl about what the team’s front office will do with those two lottery picks.

The Spurs have made it clear that they hope to add the sort of players to the team that would compliment star forward Victor Wembanyama, but what does that mean in practice? Trading up in the draft, or out of it entirely to use one or even both picks to bring in an established player via trade?

The folks behind the “TSR Sports” YouTube channel recently put together an expansive video covering all the rumors and theories they have been hearing about San Antonio’s draft plans.

How would Kentucky point guard Rob Dillingham fit next to star Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama?

A maestro on the offensive end of the court, the main knock on the former Wildcat is his turnstile-like defense and slight frame.

How would University of Kentucky point guard Rob Dillingham fit next to star San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama? The San Antonio Spurs are armed with a pair of lottery picks at Nos. 4 and 8 overall in the 2024 NBA draft to surround Wemby with ideal teammates.

Would Dillingham fit the admittedly tall bill that concept sets for a player being taken into San Antonio’s roster? A maestro on the offensive end of the court, the main knock on the former Wildcat is his turnstile-like defense and slight frame. But could Wemby’s defensive acumen make up for that lack of defensive skills in Dillingham?

The folks behind the “SSPN: A San Antonio Spurs Podcast” YouTube channel recently put together a clip exploring this idea for the Spurs’ draft plans this summer.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about the Kentucky guard’s fit with a generational talent.

Who should the San Antonio Spurs take with the No. 8 pick of the 2024 NBA draft?

Could it be Cholet Basket forward Salaun Tidjane? Or perhaps Crvena Zvezda point guard Nikola Topic?

Who should the San Antonio Spurs take with the No. 8 pick of the 2024 NBA draft? Could it be Cholet Basket forward Salaun Tidjane? Or perhaps Crvena Zvezda point guard Nikola Topic? Maybe Providence College floor general Devin Carter or University of Tennessee small forward Dalton Knecht?

We have even heard some distant rumbles of a potential drafting of University of Colorado small forward Cody Williams with the latter of the Spurs two selections in this year’s lottery (the other being San Antonio’s No. 4 pick). Or might they end up trading it away for a more established player to pair with star Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama?

Whichever way the team’s front office turns to find the right supporting cast for Wemby, there are already plenty of people with opinions about it.

Among them are the folks behind the “SSPN: A San Antonio Spurs Podcast” YouTube channel, who reviewed the options for San Antonio at No. 8. Check it out above!
