Here’s what uniforms the Thunder and Pelicans will wear in their play-in matchup.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will travel on the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in tournament and the uniform matchup of the 9th vs. 10th matchup was revealed.

The Thunder will wear their blue icon edition jerseys while the Pelicans will wear their red statement edition jerseys.

The Thunder went 8-16 in 24 regular-season games wearing the blue jerseys this season, which included going 1-8 in their previous nine games.

It’ll be a clash of blue and red as both teams battle it out to see who earns the right to go on the road and face the loser of the 7th vs. 8th matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves for the eighth seed.

OKC Thunder to play New Orleans Pelicans in play-in tournament

The Thunder will play the Pelicans in the Play-In tournament.

With the regular season over, the Oklahoma City Thunder will play the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in tournament.

The Thunder’s play-in opponent was finalized with the result of Sunday’s game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans, which the latter lost, 113-108.

The 10th-seeded Thunder (40-42) will travel to the ninth-seeded Pelicans (42-40) to play on Wednesday, April 12 on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. CT.

If the Thunder win, they will advance to play the loser of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Timberwolves on Friday, April 14 for the right to advance to the playoffs as the eighth seed.

If the Thunder goes 2-0 in the play-in, they will be the eighth seed and face the Denver Nuggets in a first-round series.

The Thunder went 1-3 against the Pelicans in four regular-season matchups this year. All four games were decided by four points or less.

OKC Thunder officially clinch 2023 play-in tournament spot

The Thunder are officially in the Play-In tournament.

After a two-year drought, the Oklahoma City Thunder will play game(s) beyond the regular season.

The Thunder clinched a play-in tournament spot when the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Chicago Bulls on Friday. The Thunder will be the 10th seed and play the 9th seed on Wednesday, April 12.

The winner of the 9 vs. 10 matchup will play at the loser of the 7 vs. 8 matchup to earn the eighth seed on Friday, April 14.

Friday was an adventurous day for the Mavericks, who started the morning by ruling out Kyrie Irving (foot injury recovery), Christian Wood (rest), Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle soreness), Maxi Kleber (hamstring injury recovery) and Josh Green (rest).

Luka Doncic (thigh injury recovery) played 13 minutes before checking out at the 11:25 mark of the second quarter with an intentional foul. The plan was for the All-Star to play just the first quarter before sitting the remainder of the game.

After going 2-7 in their last nine games, the Mavericks had incentive to lose their final two games to keep their 2023 first-round pick. The top-10 protected draft pick was involved in the 2019 Kristaps Porzingis trade with the New York Knicks, who will acquire the pick if it falls to No. 11 or below.

With the play-in spot officially secured, it’ll be interesting to see how Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault handles Sunday’s season finale against the Memphis Grizzlies.

That game is now meaningless, which provides OKC an opportune time to rest Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and other starters if they choose to do so.
